2011-06-17 Thread Laurent Godard
Hi all

I second Ollivier's questions

moreover, going one step forward about updates

would it be possible to dissociate LibrO update service and Extensions
one ? in OOo, there was only one option, but i think this would be
better to let the admin choose.

the best would be to make this per Extension.

would it be something hard to do ?

 Hi all,

It introduces a new switch, --enable-online-update, that is on by
default on Windows and on Mac, and off by default on other platforms.
That is because I don't expect eg. the Linux distros to be interested in
this; but of course for the universal builds, this still might have its
value - but there it should be explicitly turned on.

Do we want to add --enable-online-update into
bootstrap/distro-configs/LibreOfficeLinux.conf, so that it is enabled in
the official build?

I need 3 reviews to get it to libreoffice-3-4-1.

Looks fine to me. This is the 3rd approval = pushed into both
libreoffice-3-4 and libreoffice-3-4-1 branches.

For 3.3.2 - nothing, since it doesn't ship with the patch that tests
for the upgrade server :-) Wrt. the upgrade paths we recommend - we can
work that out later of course - recommending something sensible, ie. not
recommending point-zero versions for everyone would be a good option

 3) Can the URL for the download be acessible for the sysadmins? For
instance, it will be nice to point the upgrade package to an company
internal server rather than the internet (same xcd as above, with the
 url)

Good question; I imagine it is currently compiled in.

These other features should be easy enough to implement; and it'd be
great to have someone working on them - patches gratefully received.

[Libreoffice] Fewer datasources for AddressBook wizard functionality on MacOSX ?

2011-06-17 Thread Alexander Thurgood
Hi,

Could anyone indicate to me the rationale for not providing as many
datasource choices for the AddressBook wizard on Mac OSX when compared
to the other OSes ?

On Mac :
NeoOffice offers 13 possibilities.
LibreOffice only 10.

The difference : LDAP, Thunderbird address book, Mozilla address book.

Mac OSX server (which I happen to have in my work environment) provides
LDAP as a native service. Thunderbird, love it or hate it, is probably
the most ubiquitous mail client after Mail.app.

So where is the rationale for not providing these ? When it was OOo, a
decision was made to chop them out of Mac OSX. The Linux distros kept
providing them, as indeed does the current Windows build of LibreOffice
I believe. So why is Mac left out in the lurch ? Is there some kind of
build problem associated with providing access to them ? I'm just
curious as to why, when we endeavour to provide as broad a support as
possible on the other platforms for this address book feature, we still
have it crippled on Mac OSX ?

[Libreoffice] gdk-pixbuf windows build and some perl+pwd+path oddities

2011-06-17 Thread Caolán McNamara
So for me gdk-pixbuf fails to build under windows, debugging it down I
find that strangely on calling nmake -f makefile.msc in gdk-pixbuf that
the lines $(PERL)... modify the pwd, i.e. with added pwd in there I
get...

pwd
/cygdrive/f/libo/clone/libs-extern-sys/gdk-pixbuf/wntmsci12.pro/misc/build/gdk-pixbuf-2.23.0/gdk-pixbuf
C:/cygwin/bin/perl -e 'print hello world'
pwd
/usr/bin

while if I change $(PERL) to just perl I get the expected results...

pwd
/cygdrive/f/libo/clone/libs-extern-sys/gdk-pixbuf/wntmsci12.pro/misc/build/gdk-pixbuf-2.23.0/gdk-pixbuf
perl -e 'print hello world'
hello world pwd
/cygdrive/f/libo/clone/libs-extern-sys/gdk-pixbuf/wntmsci12.pro/misc/build/gdk-pixbuf-2.23.0/gdk-pixbuf

where echo $PERL says

c:/cygwin/bin/perl

If I use this patch, all is well. Anyone an idea what the cock might
really be.

Please, have you tried the following?

   --with-libmysql-path=/usr/local/mysql-5.1.50-osx10.6-x86_64

with and without the actual file name (my understanding is that one only
needed to point to the directory containing the file, not actually name
it, but I tried anyway), with and without the trailing /, but none of
them work, they all throw the same error message.

I wrote in the previous mail that you need to define the path without
the /lib subdir. For example, if you have /blabla/lib/libmysql.dylib,
you need to use:

 --with-libmysql-path=/blabla

Hmm, I see your original message:

checking for mysqlc module... OK
checking for mysql pre-requisites... external Connector/C (libmysql)
checking for libmysqlclient.dylib... configure: error: not found. Please
specify proper path in --with-libmysql-path

I wonder why it writes libmysqlclient.dylib. I see libmysql.dylib in
bootstrap/configure.in (libreoffice-3-4 branch).

Have modified the configure?
Are the messages from another configure script?

 Then resulted in an error.

Also, I was tried to build sfx2 alone, and it resulted in the same error.

This header should be provided by the module libegg. Please, make sure
that this module is built and delivered.

I see the following in sfx2/prj/build.lst

--- cut ---
sf sfx2:l10n idl basic xmlscript framework readlicense_oo
shell setup_native sax SYSTRAY_GTK:libegg LIBXML2:libxml2 NULL

So, the module libegg is built only when SYSTRAY_GTK is enabled.

You might also try to use --disable-systray configure option. You will
not have the systray icon in GNOME but it is not needed for fixing that
bug. The icon is disabled at runtime by default anyway.

I wonder why it writes libmysqlclient.dylib. I see libmysql.dylib in
 bootstrap/configure.in (libreoffice-3-4 branch).

That is, as I said in my initial post, because on Mac at least (don't
know about other platforms), the file that configure searches for, i.e.
libmysql.dylib does not exist. A locate libmysql.dylib returns no
answers, nor does a find /usr -name libmysql.dylib.

So I edited configure.in to ask for the correct file name, hence the
different message.

Right, we should have it there I think - patch attached.

Look fine = pushed into libreoffice-3-4 branch, see

I wonder if we need two more approvals for the 3-4-1 branch ;-)

It makes some sense. If people have spent their time downloading and
installing a custom Linux build instead of their native system one, then
- why not prompt them to do the same again for updates ? :-)

So - I don't mind, but it might make sense.

Hi Marco,

Marco píše v Po 13. 06. 2011 v 00:33 +0200:

 == 1 ==
Any svg document created by exporting an Impress presentation is
navigable through the mouse and the keyboard.

 == 2 ==
It is possible to export any subset of slides from an Impress
presentation. To do that you have to switch to the Slide Sorter view
and select the slides you want to export. The selection from the
Impress Left Pane is not (yet) supported.
At present if no slide is selected the whole presentation is exported.

Very nice! :-)

I attached a patch set based on the libreoffice-3-4-0 tag that includes
 both enhancements.

Just a very minor issue with your patch - I see that you use tabs in
some of the new code; please don't ;-) Use spaces instead (and
configure your editor to default to that too), we had trouble with tabs
in the past, so we agreed to use spaces only in the new code.

Having said that - I like your code :-) - and I am looking forward to
seeing it in master.

P.S.: Is there a way to create a single patch file ?

There is, but I think it is better to keep separate fixes as separate
patches (and consequently separate commits).

Should you need that nevertheless, it is git rebase -i; have a look at
man git-rebase, and search for the interactive rebase.

[Libreoffice] [REVIEWED] Re: [REVIEW] Regression from 3.3

Hi,

Kohei Yoshida píše v Út 14. 06. 2011 v 14:06 -0400:

I would like to cherry-pick the following commit on master

 http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/calc/commit/?id=478533a86b29341e00128fb6eda8237dfb9cf3cf

to the -3-4 branch (and -3-4-1 if it makes sense). There is no bug
report associated with this (yet), but this accidentally changes the
behavior of ScMatrix pre- and post-refactoring. When GetString() is
called on an empty element, the old code would return an empty string,
but the new code sets an error instead. I made this change, and this
change was unintentional. GetString() should still return an empty
string when called on an empty element.

 Review sign-off appreciated.

Looks good to me, and behaving according to the explanation :-) - pushed
to libreoffice-3-4. Two more reviews to get it to -3-4-1 needed.

Thank you,
Kendy

The date would be Friday September 9th, this day is mostly used at this

As this point the show organizers are waiting to here from us regarding
our interest in putting this together.

Before pursuing this with them and either waisting everyones time or
setting up one big FAIL I would like to see if there is interest from

Let me know - sooner is much better then later on this.

Hello Again,

Well, I suppose there is something that I need to say to you folks - and
I am talking directly the developer crew.

I put my name on the apache project earlier commiter list - yes I did.
If you want to know why feel free to ask me on list.

But folks I'm a fairly simple guy, I don't do 'circles in circles, or
have hidden agendas. The idea for this project pre-dates anything to do
with Apache, it is about and for LibreOffice, period - full stop.

The idea is to help expand the base of people contributing to our
project - period.

I can not do it however without active support from you, the developers
- there are some things I can help with but actually helping make sense
of the code isn't one of them, not in this time frame.

Right now there is a window of opportunity with the organizers a OLF and
the organizers of SELF have said they will be watching with a
possibility of doing this next year in South Carolina. Today I received
word that the organizers of NWLF (North West Linux Fest) will also be
watching and interest in this type of event also. In other words there
is a reasonable chance to turn this into something that can get legs and
maybe do it every 2 months across the USA next year.

So - if you need to punish me for my putting my name on that list at the
other place, that is your prerogative but please reconsider and at least
talk to me about things before you make judgments.

Good question; I imagine it is currently compiled in.

These other features should be easy enough to implement; and it'd be

The mere wish to have someone making a feature ready to use, is not

I am sorry, but I don't really understand ;-) The original question was
for which 'y' should we start recommending 3.(x+1).y, when the user has
3.x.z.

So far I tested that the thing 'behaves sensibly' - ie. does not bother
the user when the server is not available / returns 404, which is what
we want here. The rest is just providing the right info on the server
side; the .php to do that will be something like 20-40 lines or so. If
we find out there is something broken in 3.4.1 wrt. updates, we can just
explicitly return 404 for that version, and fix it for 3.4.2.

We are not using the Hamburg server side for this at all; I have script

Hey :-) so - first off, the plan is to only shipping the capability of
notifying for an update without immediately lighting up the update
recommendation server. Also - since we are shipping it only in one
version 3.4.1 - there is nothing to update to anyway ( unless you count

Sure - so, as I understand it, the server is notified of the client
version, so we can build whatever matrix we like of recommended upgrades
(or none at all), based on the version they are using. That seems
flexible enough for what we want - and of course, we can decide that
matrix with some considerable thought later.

Indeed, above the already mentioned problem, we have the challenge

Of course - and we also have the existing challenge that people are not
updated, and are running old LibreOffice's with plenty of known bugs
fixed in them. ie. if we care about quality we want people to update
through release series .0 - .1 - .2 etc. Clearly sysadmins need to be
able to turn this off, as no doubt we'll do for the SUSE, RedHat, Ubuntu
etc. versions - but that is not a huge issue.

So - is there still a problem ?

Yes I think, but it can be solved by a twist on some bits:

LO 3.4.x is in a different path than LO3.3.x . Shall LO3.5.x be in a
different path than LO3.4.x?

In user space, this means as if a new product landed, with noise on icons
associations, double entries of LO in Start Menu, bla bla bla.

In enterprise space, a bunch of disgruntled sysadmins to wipe old version.
This old update scheme may cause a bunch of headaches. (sysadmin dream:
update LO as easy as update FireFox)

 Kind regards

[Libreoffice] [PATCH] Additional fix for bug fdo#33781

2011-06-17 Thread Roland Baudin

Hi,

here is a small patch for sw that fixes another issue related to bug
33781 that I already fixed last month.

The problem is that a graphic object of type Draw 8 is not
anti-aliased when anchored as char (see test file for example).

IMHO, this patch is safe and acts exactly the same as the previous fix
for bug 33781.

Should be nice if it could be commited to the 3-4 branch and / or 3-4-1
branch.

Have a nice day,
RB

Hi John,

Honestly I was optimistic also but...

I'm rather sorry about the whole 'punish me' line in my earlier email -
but a couple of days after I put my name on the ASF wiki someone in
India went to my facebook wall and started a survey titled 'Drew should
be kiled' yes/no. I blew it off with a joke response and FB was kind
enough to remove the survey entry - followed by a few emails over the
next couple of days with suggestions ranging from taking a long walk of
a short pier to one request to perform an act which quite frankly I
don't think is physically possible. Anyway, I should not of let the
fringe element color my interaction here.
