[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 96717] New: LO saves first recorded macro as Main regardless of name specified

2015-12-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96717

Bug ID: 96717
Summary: LO saves first recorded macro as Main regardless of
name specified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.3.0.4 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: BASIC
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: lo_b...@iseries-guru.com

STR
---

(1 ) Ensure that you have macro recording enabled (Tools > Options >
Advanced > "Optional Features" > "Enable macro recording (may be
limited)". Restart LibreOffice if this is a change.

( 2) Start writer. Program presents Writer window "Untitled 1"

( 3) Start macro recording (Tools > Macros > "Record Macro"). Observe
 floating window "Record Macro".

( 4) In Writer window "Untitled 1", click in the document area and type
 "asdf".

( 5) In floating window "Record Macro" click ".
Program presents dialog "LibreOfficeDev Basic Macros".

( 6) In pane "Save Macro In", click "Untitled 1"

( 7) In "Macro Name", type "alpha" and click . Program closes
dialog "LibreOfficeDev Basic Macros" and presents dialog "New
Module" with Name defaulted to "Module1".

( 8) in dialog "New Module" click . Program closes dialog and
returns focus to Writer window "Untitled 1".

( 9) Take menu options Tools > Macros > "Organize Macros" >
 "LibreOfficeDev Basic...". Program presents dialog
 "LibreOfficeDev Basic Macros".

(10) In pane "Macro From", expand "Untitled 1" > Standard > Module1 and click
on Module1.
Observed : In pane "Existing Macros In: Modle1" is macro name Main.
Expected : In pane "Existing Macros In: Modle1" is macro name alpha.
The macro name Main is selected.

(11) Click . Observe line 17 ...
 args1(0).Value = "asdf"
... showing that this is indeed the macro you just recorded.

I made these observations against daily dbgutil bibisect repository
version 2015012024 executing in debian-stretch; and I saw the same
thing in bibisect repository 43all version oldest and in a recent
daily build executing in Windows Vista.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 96687] Characters are not displayed in GTK textbox until Enter is pressed.

2015-12-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96687

A bit clearer description of the problem I am seeing: using spell checker after
typing "recieve", right-clicking on the misspelled word and choosing spelling
and grammar.

In the spelling dialog, I see the paragraph with the misspelled word in red. I
click inside the textbox and start typing. With my first keypress, all of the
words in the current paragraph become invisible. I see the cursor moving as I
type, but no characters are seen. Typing enough to wrap (or push) characters to
the next line doesn't help. The entire paragraph is hidden until a carriage
return - then the entire (old) p̣aragraph is displayed and the new paragraph I
am on is invisible.

Moving the cursor from one paragraph to another is not enough to hide or show a
paragraph - a new character must be entered. For paragraphs 0 to n, if I am
typing in paragraph x, then 0 - x-1 will be displayed, and x-n will be
invisible. If I move the cursor to paragraph 0 and type one character, then
all paragraphs will become invisible. If I move to paragraph n-1 and type one
character, then everything will become visible except for the last two
paragraphs.

Trying to highlight some words doesn't help. So it doesn't seem to be a color
issue. Somehow the paragraphs are just not being painted.

Before upgrading to LO 5.0.4.2 I had created a custom Shortcut key where
Ctrl+Alt+F would insert a Foot/Endnote. Now that I've upgraded, I notice that
it still works but seemingly ONLY with the left Alt key. Simply:

LEFT Ctrl + LEFT Alt + F = works
RIGHT Ctrl + LEFT Alt + F = works

But no combination with the right-hand Alt key will bring up the footnote menu.
Previously, any combination of Ctrl+Alt+F worked just fine.

@kompilainenn, *

While this one Tab on the Customize dialog would benefit, not clear that the
other three Tabs of dialog gain anything by changing the ratio of the frame.

I do like the addition of "Search function" and "Search shortcut", but those
could be incorporated using the existing layout ratio inserting it between the
"Shortcut Keys" and "Functions"

If this were to be reworked, believe the entire dialog would need to be
adjusted.

Mockups, for the other tabs at 16:9?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 96714] New: idea: implement TreeSheets functionality into LibreOffice Calc

2015-12-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96714

Bug ID: 96714
Summary: idea: implement TreeSheets functionality into
LibreOffice Calc
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: edmund.laugas...@gmail.com

There is a free open-source program called TreeSheets -
http://strlen.com/treesheets/ - in the end of that webpage are all links
available.
Also http://treesheets.com/ redirects there.

Source-code is available here - https://github.com/aardappel/treesheets

TreeSheets has some very cool features missing from LibreOffice Calc -
http://strlen.com/treesheets/docs/tutorial.html

Also it would be cool if LibreOffice Calc could import/export TreeSheets
fileformat .cts

Would propose to make it configurable, e.g. make the choice "enable TreeSheets
mode" available.

I like libre and use it all the time. Used to use OO but it became buggy. I

It looks like either an issue with the font, or that the font is supporting
advanced OpenType features that is not widely used (I have heard once about its
use of various use of OpenType.)

The issue manifests also with Word 2013. The issue as my obeservation is that
when I fix the height of the line and they ended overlapping when they span
multiple lines, the "overflow" content (especially when using diacritics) of
each line is cut short. However, when it is printed, PDF seems to let them
overlap without interference.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 96713] New: Insert -> Document: "Read Error. Error reading file" for FODT

2015-12-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96713

Bug ID: 96713
Summary: Insert -> Document: "Read Error. Error reading file"
for FODT
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.0.4.2 rc
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: martinvila...@gmail.com

Overview:
I want to insert an existing file "Zwei.fodt" in another existing file
"Eins.fodt". This results in an "Read error: Error reading file".

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Opening an existing document "Eins.fodt"
2. Clicking "Insert -> Document".
3. Selecting another existing document "Zwei.fodt"

Actual Results:
LO displays a message "Read error: Error reading file".

Expected Results:
The content of file "Zwei.fodt" is inserted in file "Eins.fodt" at and below
the cursor.

Build Date & Hardware:
Version: 5.0.4.2
Build ID: 2b9802c1994aa0b7dc6079e128979269cf95bc78
on Linux Mint 17 Qiana, KDE 64-bit

Additional Builds and Platforms:
Not checked with other builds and platforms.

Additional Information:
1. I'm aware of Bug 94374 - Insert -> Document: "Read-Error. Error reading
file." for DOCX files

2. Work-around
2.1 Saving file "Eins.fodt" as "Eins.odt" and file "Zwei.fodt" as "Zwei.odt".
2.2 Opening file "Eins.odt".
2.3 Inserting file "Zwei.odt".

This works just fine. Only the FODT document format seems to be affected.

If I can provide any further information or help, please ask.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 73123] Macro recorder does not record selecting a column

The current macro recorder only records commands executed via the dispatcher.
It's not designed to record user actions, and there is no way to "fix" it,
other than rewriting from scratch. There is a very good reason why the checkbox
in Tools->Options has the word "limited" in it.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 96706] New: Writer text boxes do not apply default style

2015-12-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96706

Bug ID: 96706
Summary: Writer text boxes do not apply default style
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 4.2.8.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: blackh...@lobianco.org

Created attachment 121528
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=121528=edit
Descriptive screenshot

Steps to reproduce:
1) In libreoffice writer write some normal text and then add a text box using
the AI icon button (see screenshot)
2) Change any of the Default style element (e.g. font red)
3) Changes are applied only to the "normal" paragraph, but not on the content
of text box.

Expected behaviour:
As the "Default style" acts as master, the content of the box should apply the
new style definition as well.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 96699] Crashes when opening some menus or menu items

2015-12-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96699

--- Comment #2 from michaels.pe...@hotmail.co.uk ---
Hi

This happens with every file I try. If I open a new document and try to change
the page orientation, it crashes. If I open any existing document and try to
change to orientation, it crashes.

LO is installed in the location set by the installer utility, namely in:
C:\Program Files (x86)\LibreOffice4.

To try to resolve the problem I updated using the menu Help>Check for Updates.
That gave me the current version I am using that still has the problem.

I renamed the file registrymodifications.xcu as suggested in the linked
document to registrymodifications.xcu.old but with no change in behaviour.

I have now uninstalled version 4.4.x and installed a fresh download of version
5.0.3.2 and I’m pleased to say that the problem appears to have been resolved.

I wonder why the update process in the previous version installed did not offer
a version 5.x, only a version 4.x? It is also worth noting that uninstalling
the old version using the Programs and Features utility provided by Microsoft
did not fully uninstall the software! It left everything in the install
directory instead of deleting that and the registry entries. Perhaps there is a
need/benefit from having your own uninstaller that does a complete removal of
the program and all the associated files and entries?

Thanks for your help.

@jay : the split database odb file uses macros to setup the environment. I
imagine, although I haven't inspected the macro code, that it does this on
first load. There is currently a bug in OSX versions of LibreOffice that
prevents onOpen/onLoad events from firing. This could be the reason, or one of
the reasons why this particular ODB file doesn't open properly and eventually
causes LO to use up all system resources.

Yes, I tried this yesterday and could open a normal report (i.e. containing
tabular formatted report data) in Word 15.17.1 on OSX.

Some large business deployments, e.g. corporations and administrations use this
option as a default to "trick" users into thinking that they're working with a
MS-Word clone, or because they have a policy of always saving to docx, but as
far as I understood, yes, this only applies to word processing documents.

And personally I agree, it is more of a UI problem, but perhaps there is more
to it than I know about. Maybe one of the devs more aware of what this option
does can shed light on it.

Then that should be examined as users will always think that an Update will
take them to the latest released version and not restrict them to an older,
earlier version merely because it is in the same 'branch'.

When I worked as a documentation author for a major EDA software house, Update
always gave the user the very latest released version and that is what people
have traditionally expected. So why is LO different?

Currently not existing in LibreOffice:
ADDMISSINGITEMS
CALENDAR
CALENDARAUTO
CONCATENATEX (but CONCATENATE)
DATEDIFF
GEOMEANX
GROUPBY
ISEMPTY
ISONORAFTER
MEDIANX
NATURALINNERJOIN
NATURALLEFTOUTERJOIN
PERCENTILEX.EXC
PERCENTILEX.INC
PRODUCTX
SUBSTITUTEWITHINDEX
SUMMARIZECOLUMNS
UNION

Existing in Calc (but unclear whether MS extended these function in Excel 2016)
GEOMEAN
MEDIAN
PERCENTILE.EXC
PERCENTILE.INC
PRODUCT
XIRR

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 96707] New: EDITING: Calc "Data => Form" is useless and dangerous!

2015-12-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96707

Bug ID: 96707
Summary: EDITING: Calc "Data => Form" is useless and dangerous!
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: x86 (IA32)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: burnu...@gmail.com

In Calc the form in "Data => Form" looks like in Excel, but does not work like
Excel!

https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Simplify-data-entry-with-a-data-form-00bfc75e-f675-46ad-8703-291fc03e4d77

In Excel there is (at least until Excel 2003) no check for Data => Validity
while entering new values. (Makes the whole form not very useful.)
But it has a search function ("Criteria")
And it is safe:
1.) Cells with a formula inside cannot be changed in the form. Formula is
copied.
2.) Data => Validity is checked before writing the new values in the table

In LibreOffice there is also no check for Data => Validity while entering new
values. And ther is NO search function. (Which in combination makes it totally
useless.)
AND it is dangerous:
1.) Cells with a formula inside are changed to entered values, formula is
killed!
2.) Data => Validity is NOT checked before writing the new values in the table
(So you can overrule the Validity check with the dataform!)

The quick solution: Delete the function "Data => Form"
... or make it at least safe to use
... and useful too!

Thank you for your feedback.
For the moment, automatic LO update proposes only LO versions from same branch.
Eg: 4.4.1 would propose 4.4.2
4.4.3 would propose 4.4.4, etc.

5.0.0 would propose 5.0.1...

In these examples, there are 2 branches: 4.4 and 5.0

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 96709] New: EDITING: Calc copy Valitidy is not easy/clear

2015-12-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96709

Bug ID: 96709
Summary: EDITING: Calc copy Valitidy is not easy/clear
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: x86 (IA32)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: burnu...@gmail.com

In Excel there are 2 solutions to copy a (changed) Data => Validity

1.) In Data => Validity: checkbox "Apply these changes to all other cells with
the same settings"

https://support.office.com/en-nz/article/Apply-data-validation-to-cells-c743a24a-bc48-41f1-bd92-95b6aeeb73c9

2.) Copy + Paste Special: Validation

In LibreOffice:

1.) Validity: ... no "copy to all" option
2.) Paste Special: ... no Validity option

Copy Validity with "Paste Special: Formats" is possible, but:
a) not obvious and not logical
b) not OK if someone don't want to copy the cell-format also

So, at least the second option as separate item (Paste Special: Validity) would
be very useful!

I discovered an interesting behavior of the corrupted files. If you try to copy

initially copied. I screencaptured this and uploaded it.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 96616] FILESAVE: Generating a report as "Microsoft Word 2007-2013 XML" creates .odt with .docx extension

2015-12-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96616

It looks like I found quite nice inconsistency :)

And yes, I got confused by the "Load/Save" section because there are separate
sections like "LibreOffice Writer" or "LibreOffice Base" available only in
Options menu opened from corresponding program. So the first guess is that
those parameters are common for the whole suite (and they are - to some
extent).

The only reason for changing that "Always save as" field, is dealing with huge
report (>10 fields per record, one record per A5 page, about 2000 records) that
freezes Writer for minutes (or even hours on some machines) when loading the
document. The only option discovered so far is to save it as .doc(x) as MS Word
deals with such big table with no delay. So I still consider reporting at least
an enhancement against Writer's performance for this issue.

I understand your doubts about possible complaints related to compatibility,
but I also have hard task to explain the final user of my database why she has
to drink at least 3 coffees or teas before the generated report may be
eventually printed.

File - New - Labels currently produces a page of frames, but frames do not
support vertical alignment of their contents, event though that is always
desirable with a label!

This could be solved by adding that feature to frames, or perhaps by changing
what is generated by the label wizard (perhaps to a table?)

Wow! It had never occurred to me that one would use LibreOffice to
process a file of that size. Clearly, we do not handle this well. I
wonder if *should* handle it.

Let me confess that I am an old-fashioned (and old) guy, accustomed to
creating reports by a loop: { read one record, print one record }.
This new-fangled PC with its concept of loading a whole file at once
leaves me befuddled .

So I ask ...
(*) Looking for solutions within whole-file-at-once paradigm: Can we
make LO work with a document this size? Is it a reasonable amount
of work? Is there much demand?
(*) Is there anything in a report definition that would make it hard
to process it in one or more sequential passes over the input,
producing for example .pdf output? Sparrowbe, would this meet
your needs?

Hi Stephan,

It looks as if you overlooked on tab Options the setting Vertical alignment? By
the way: only change the first label and use Synchronize to adapt all).
IMO this is a WorksForMe.
If I do oversee something or there is a bug around this, then please reopen
with reasoning. Thanks - Cor
