[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 96687] Characters are not displayed in GTK textbox until Enter is pressed.
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96687 --- Comment #3 from Justin L--- A bit clearer description of the problem I am seeing: using spell checker after typing "recieve", right-clicking on the misspelled word and choosing spelling and grammar. In the spelling dialog, I see the paragraph with the misspelled word in red. I click inside the textbox and start typing. With my first keypress, all of the words in the current paragraph become invisible. I see the cursor moving as I type, but no characters are seen. Typing enough to wrap (or push) characters to the next line doesn't help. The entire paragraph is hidden until a carriage return - then the entire (old) p̣aragraph is displayed and the new paragraph I am on is invisible. Moving the cursor from one paragraph to another is not enough to hide or show a paragraph - a new character must be entered. For paragraphs 0 to n, if I am typing in paragraph x, then 0 - x-1 will be displayed, and x-n will be invisible. If I move the cursor to paragraph 0 and type one character, then all paragraphs will become invisible. If I move to paragraph n-1 and type one character, then everything will become visible except for the last two paragraphs. Trying to highlight some words doesn't help. So it doesn't seem to be a color issue. Somehow the paragraphs are just not being painted. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96699 --- Comment #2 from michaels.pe...@hotmail.co.uk --- Hi This happens with every file I try. If I open a new document and try to change the page orientation, it crashes. If I open any existing document and try to change to orientation, it crashes. LO is installed in the location set by the installer utility, namely in: C:\Program Files (x86)\LibreOffice4. To try to resolve the problem I updated using the menu Help>Check for Updates. That gave me the current version I am using that still has the problem. I renamed the file registrymodifications.xcu as suggested in the linked document to registrymodifications.xcu.old but with no change in behaviour. I have now uninstalled version 4.4.x and installed a fresh download of version 5.0.3.2 and I’m pleased to say that the problem appears to have been resolved. I wonder why the update process in the previous version installed did not offer a version 5.x, only a version 4.x? It is also worth noting that uninstalling the old version using the Programs and Features utility provided by Microsoft did not fully uninstall the software! It left everything in the install directory instead of deleting that and the registry entries. Perhaps there is a need/benefit from having your own uninstaller that does a complete removal of the program and all the associated files and entries? https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96696 --- Comment #2 from Alex Thurgood--- @jay : the split database odb file uses macros to setup the environment. I imagine, although I haven't inspected the macro code, that it does this on first load. There is currently a bug in OSX versions of LibreOffice that prevents onOpen/onLoad events from firing. This could be the reason, or one of the reasons why this particular ODB file doesn't open properly and eventually causes LO to use up all system resources. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 96616] FILESAVE: Generating a report as "Microsoft Word 2007-2013 XML" creates .odt with .docx extension
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96616 --- Comment #5 from Alex Thurgood--- (In reply to Lionel Elie Mamane from comment #4) > Just to be clear, if one does "file / save as" from the generated report, > and saves *there* as "Microsoft Word 2007-2013 XML", then it is correctly > saved as .docx, right? Yes, I tried this yesterday and could open a normal report (i.e. containing tabular formatted report data) in Word 15.17.1 on OSX. > > I don't understand this "Tools/Options: Load/Save -> General / Always save > as"... "Clearly" only Writer obeys that... I can't imagine Calc or Impress > following that setting. But nothing in the setting says it is for Writer > only. IMHO, that's a UI problem. Some large business deployments, e.g. corporations and administrations use this option as a default to "trick" users into thinking that they're working with a MS-Word clone, or because they have a policy of always saving to docx, but as far as I understood, yes, this only applies to word processing documents. And personally I agree, it is more of a UI problem, but perhaps there is more to it than I know about. Maybe one of the devs more aware of what this option does can shed light on it. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

(Makes the whole form not very useful.) But it has a search function ("Criteria") And it is safe: 1.) Cells with a formula inside cannot be changed in the form. Formula is copied. 2.) Data => Validity is checked before writing the new values in the table In LibreOffice there is also no check for Data => Validity while entering new values. And ther is NO search function. (Which in combination makes it totally useless.) AND it is dangerous: 1.) Cells with a formula inside are changed to entered values, formula is killed! 2.) Data => Validity is NOT checked before writing the new values in the table (So you can overrule the Validity check with the dataform!) [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 96616] FILESAVE: Generating a report as "Microsoft Word 2007-2013 XML" creates .odt with .docx extension
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96616 --- Comment #6 from Sparrowbe--- It looks like I found quite nice inconsistency :) And yes, I got confused by the "Load/Save" section because there are separate sections like "LibreOffice Writer" or "LibreOffice Base" available only in Options menu opened from corresponding program. So the first guess is that those parameters are common for the whole suite (and they are - to some extent). The only reason for changing that "Always save as" field, is dealing with huge report (>10 fields per record, one record per A5 page, about 2000 records) that freezes Writer for minutes (or even hours on some machines) when loading the document. The only option discovered so far is to save it as .doc(x) as MS Word deals with such big table with no delay. So I still consider reporting at least an enhancement against Writer's performance for this issue. I understand your doubts about possible complaints related to compatibility, but I also have hard task to explain the final user of my database why she has to drink at least 3 coffees or teas before the generated report may be eventually printed. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Wow! It had never occurred to me that one would use LibreOffice to process a file of that size. Clearly, we do not handle this well. I wonder if *should* handle it. Let me confess that I am an old-fashioned (and old) guy, accustomed to creating reports by a loop: { read one record, print one record }. This new-fangled PC with its concept of loading a whole file at once leaves me befuddled . So I ask ... (*) Looking for solutions within whole-file-at-once paradigm: Can we make LO work with a document this size? Is it a reasonable amount of work? Is there much demand? (*) Is there anything in a report definition that would make it hard to process it in one or more sequential passes over the input, producing for example .pdf output?
