Plasma "claims" that it supports a global menu, that's why we hide our in-window menu widget, but then it turns out the Plasma doesn't actually support the way we export menus... Comment 10 and comment 14 are good code pointers, showing that footnotes within
a range of hidden text are intentionally hidden.
Stepping back and looking at the big picture - normally if a paragraph is
hidden, you would want any attached things like comments or footnotes to also
hidden. So the concept in general makes sense. Rarely would anyone hide only a
footnote anchor in order to hide a footnote.
It would be rather difficult to specify an exception clause for this. One
possible clause could be that if the hidden range contains only anchor
character and spaces, then don't hide the footnote. However, this kind of
"black box" implementation I'm sure would be frowned on.

For some reason, upon loading the document, the footnote is still hidden, even
with this change. Also, the field shaping isn't hidden.
I'm a bug fixer, not a developer, so I don't expect to continue much further on
this bug. There already is a right-click window for footnotes - perhaps an
invisible flag could be added to hide the anchor.

I believe it uses hooks or some similar technique to monitor for clipboard, keep its history and (if requested by user) bring back one of the earlier contents into the clipboard. In my scenario I do not actively interact with CLCL in any way, just let it do its silent work. I don't have stable reproduction scenario, but what I generally do, is: open some document in LibreOffice (normally, a DOC file), select some text, copy it into clipboard, switch to another application, paste there, copy something from there, switch back to LO and paste, copy-paste within the same LO document, copy several times different parts of text without pasting anywhere... that kind of thing. Sooner or later, after one of the Ctrl+C or Ctrl+V keypress LO suddenly freezes, interface does not react to any input, and after several seconds Windows pops up with "Application does not respond". If I wait long enough (several minutes), it may unfreeze and continue to work normally, but then freeze again when I try to use clipboard next time. During the freeze, CLCL itself is also non-responding. If I was using another application to copy from or paste to, aside from LO, that application may freeze as well. I would have thought it the problem of CLCL, but as I described in the first post, it happens only with LibreOffice. All the same applications work flawlessly when no LO is running. I have the page style for the body of the book set up as Mirrored. For the Headers, I unchecked "Same content of both sides". The header information, titles and page numbers, accordingly went to the outer edges as they were told, so it seemed everything was fine. But then I wanted more spacing between the header and the first line of text, and can't get it to work. On the left pages, I get the specified spacing. But the right page automatically picks up the setting I make for the left page, which it shouldn't do, yet still remains as it was, making the two pages unequal. I thought it might be related to a Inserted page break, but it happens even on automatically generated pages. So the mirrored page picks up a setting, but only considers it a phantom. If I then toggle the "Same Content As" setting, with Apply, the problem is corrected.
