[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 50132] Provide as-is order for groups in Reports
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50132 --- Comment #3 from rob...@familiegrosskopf.de 2012-07-11 06:02:55 PDT --- How would you make a sort statement without a field, which must be sorted? You only have to show this field in the query or SQL-Code. Ist must not be used to display anything in the report. It must only be used for sorting. The only problem I see is, that you can not get a report with non-graded groups. But I don't know, if anybody would need such groups. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Could be a way to create a view. The database knows, who long the view works. When the view is working the input in the filter-field could be blocked through the user. Beta 3: 400 seconds to the last row - 3.5 about 200 seconds to the last row and 3.3.4 at once. This isn't the old problem with JRE under Linux-rpm. Have tested it with different versions. More and more I get the impression that we have some serious stability problems especially on MacOS X 10.7.x; because on 10.6.8, which I use, LibreOffice works quite well (if no accessibility features are enabled and if the user profile is clean). One reason could be the way Apple delivers its JRE/JDK now (see, e.g., bug 44679). @Ran Liwag: Thank you very much for the bug report! I'm sorry that LibreOffice crashes so often for you. We can, however, try to find out if the reason for these crashes is a known problem (and therefore a solution/workaround exists). 1) Could you please first try to reproduce with a brand new LO profile (see http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile)? We have at least on similar bug report (see bug 51323) which reports about many crashes on MacOS X 10.7.x, which was simply solved by resetting the user profile. Maybe this will help you, too, so please try this. 2) Do you have any accessibility utilities enabled? This is to say, have you enabled any of the options in the section Universal Access of the MacOS X System Prefererences? E.g., VoiceOver or Zoom or Enable acces for assistance devices? Or do you have installed any other special utilities like a screenreader for people with visual impairment, or some window management application like Moom, or anything similar? This point is important because many accessibility utilities are known to cause crashes with LibreOffice ... (see e.g. bug 47368 with many duplicates). So please try to disable any such settings and utilities. There is a good chance that one of these suggestion helps you. Please try them and report here if one of them has helped to make LibreOffice run more stable for you -- or not. Thank you very much in advance! If no one of these suggestions helps, we can take further steps to track down the problem. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

The colours on the buttons are set to default colours or set to the last applied colour, which may be different than the text colour. This is done on purpose for the split button to have effect (apply default/last used colour directly). Example: type 'long text' in black, select 'long' apply (background/highlight/font colour and 'long' gets that colour; when you place the cursor back after 'text' and continue typing, the text is black and the button stays you colour). It's a horror: Opening of the table last about 70 seconds, Scrolling to the last value 400 seconds. Must be a stopper for the new LO 3.6 - nobody will work with base any more with such a slow version of base. Will make a new bug-report for this. Information in later comments seems to suggest that maybe not, or at least a *different* stack-guard problem than bug 35023, but it could also be a *different* Java - C++ interface problem. I've a few ideas why it could be slow in general, but none of them explains why this is a regression in 3.5 with respect to 3.4: - HSQLDB I/O is redirected to our ZIP-file structure; unless we cache the whole thing, this must be problematic if HSQLDB tries to read the *end* of the file or write to the *begin* of the file: the whole file has to be (de)compressed. This happens in connectivity/com/sun/star/sdbcx/comp/hsqldb, git log suggests no change since Oct 2010 there! - There seems to be codepaths where information that has *just* been fetched is refreshed (and thus fetched again) a fraction of a second later. But even if there were a regression in that in 3.5, that would be a factor 2 or max 5, not the horrible times seen here. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

There's one difference between LibreOffice and MSO, though, and that is that MSO doesn't preselect a new paragraph background colour – I'm not sure why. Yes, you can't, but one could have a data source with no ordering field, but wants to create a report, ordered as is. Examples: - table with given order - imported/bind spread sheet - query form external db where user has no access to create additional query with ordering field Regardless of above, in any database operations, the order by facility is optional, why should it be mandatory in report builder? The only problem I see is, that you can not get a report with non-graded groups. But I don't know, if anybody would need such groups. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 37361] LibreOffice 3.5 most annoying bugs
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37361 Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de changed: What|Removed |Added Depends on||47368 --- Comment #342 from Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de 2012-07-11 13:58:33 PDT --- I have resisted for a long time, but finally I have to nominate bug 47368 - Many crashes when accessibility enabled on Mac. I have resisted for a long time, because this is not an easy candidate: * the problem is limited to a single platform (MacOS X); * it is not always reproducible out of the box; * it is not clear where the problem comes from, i.e. if the bug is in our code or in Apple's code. But nevertheless, it is definitely a most annoying bug, and so I *have* to nominate it: * it affects quite more users than you may think (see the duplicates listed in bug 47368; and there are even more similar bug reports which are just not marked as duplicates of bug 47368!) * it causes crashes about crashes for the users which suffer from it; * these crashes appear in many different actions, giving our users the (wrong) impression that every piece of LibreOffice was unstable; * therefore this bug has the potential to drive users crazy; * and to make them leave LibreOffice once and for good. You may object: We have an easy workaround: just disable the MacOS accessibility features, and LibreOffice is stable again; this is true, but IMHO it does not make this bug less annoying: * It is very difficult for normal users to discover any connection between the crashes in LibreOffice and the MacOS accessibility features, * therefore normal users will not discover the workaround easily; * we, the QA volunteers, have to ask people again and again to check their accessibility settings, which shows that people even forget about these settings (and therefore will not use the workaround, even if we list it in the release notes and read_me files); * for many people which are physically disabled/handicapped in one or the other way the accessibility features are vitally necessary, so they just CAN NOT disable them * and have to leave LibreOffice instead; * therefore this workaround is NOT a workaround for them. In addition, it gives me a rather bad feeling about LibreOffice that we unwillingly discriminate people (physically disabled/handicapped people) which are already discriminated by our way of live in many ways. This is a bad thing to do for free and open software -- it should be free and open also in the meaning of being easily accessible and usable for as many people as possible. Therefore, we need to track down this issue some day. Even if we can't fix it because the problem is in Apple's code (I don't believe this, because many other applications seem to work fine with accessibility features enabled, including other office applications!), we need to find out about this, either in order to fix it (together with Apple) or at least to explain to our users that the crashes are not our fault. Sorry for this rant -- no offence! -- I just wanted to state clearly why this bug, even being limited to a single platform and not easy to track down, is nevertheless an important (!) candidate for our most annoying bugs list. So please don't remove it from this list, but let's think together about what we can to do to solve this issue. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51957] When using .otf (OpenType PostScript) fonts, em-dashes become en-dashes in exported .pdf files
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51957 --- Comment #3 from Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de 2012-07-11 15:36:14 PDT --- Created attachment 64116 -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=64116 Calc test kit And this bug is not limited to PDF export from Writer -- it is also present in Calc. Attached you will find a ZIP file containing: * a simple Calc spreadsheet (.ods) containing samples of different fonts; * a screenshot made with LibO 3.5.5.3 on MacOS X 10.6.8, showing that LibO displays all fonts correctly, including the em-dashes; * PDF files created from the Calc file with LibO 3.5.5.3 and 3.6 beta 3, which both show that all em-dashes with fonts in .otf format become en-dashes + following empty space in the PDF export. Again, the most impressive lines are the ones comparing the output from Linux Biolinum G to Linux Biolinum O and Linux Libertine G to Linux Libertine O: while the lines in the G fonts (.ttf + Graphite) contain correct em-dashes, the lines in the O fonts (.otf fonts) are almost identical, only that the em-dashes become en-dashes. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51987] New: FILEOPEN: dialog ignores typed directory name without Enter
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51987 Bug #: 51987 Summary: FILEOPEN: dialog ignores typed directory name without Enter Classification: Unclassified Product: LibreOffice Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS/Version: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: medium Component: UI AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org ReportedBy: lo_b...@iseries-guru.com Created attachment 64117 -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=64117 screenshots It seems that if the user fails to press Enter after typing a directory name in the file Open dialog, the the program ignores the changed directory name. I describe a situation leading to a message filename not found, but it is possible to make the program open a same-named file from the wrong directory. I remember seeing comparable behaviour saving a file, but it is the other way around in that the program's complaint is that the named file already exists. The good news is that a simple workaround exists: press Enter after typing the directory name and before typing the file name. The program then refreshes the list of files in the named directory and goes on correctly from there. I have master commit id a3a0b81, pulled around 2012-10-10 17:45 UTC and built with options --enable-symbols --enable-dbgutil --enable-crashdump --disable-build-mozilla --without-system-postgresql --enable-debug --enable-werror and configured in Tools Options LibreOffice General to use LibreOffice dialogs. My platform for build and execution is $ uname -a Linux cougar-natty 2.6.38-15-generic #60-Ubuntu SMP Tue May 22 11:30:47 UTC 2012 i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux $ gcc --version gcc (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.5.2-8ubuntu4) 4.5.2 The full steps to recreate would consist mostly of creating a LO file in a place accessible to users on different systems. Perhaps you will let me get away with some steps along the way to the problem: (1) Shell command shows existence of file. $ ls -l /home/terry/Documents/rzkh.odb -rw-r--r-- 1 terry terry 4270 2012-06-01 11:55 /home/terry/Documents/rzkh.odb (2) In LibreOffice, I took menu option File Open. Program presents dialog Open, showing directory name /home/terry/lo_hacking/notes/bug_047520 and blank file name. Attached document has an image of the dialog. (3) In the open dialog I changed directory name to /home/terry/Documents/ and typed file name rzkh.odb and clicked Open. Actual behaviour: the program (seems to form full pathname using the originally presented directory name and the file name that I entered and) presents dialog complaining that a file does not exist; attached document has an image of the desktop. Expected behaviour: the program should connect to the backend database and display the Base window. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

My spreadsheet worksheet was designed when I was using Open Office. It has solid vertical lines dividing columns. Now I want to alter some of the solid lines to either dotted lines or no line at all. I select a column, right click, choose formatting, select borders, select what I require, select the right or left vertical line, click OK. Vertical line is changed. Good. Try to do the same with another column doesn't work. Choose a different new line and it works - also only once. It does not matter what type vertical line you start with, the process will only work once for a given replacement line. Close the program, reopen it and you can change another vertical line, but only once. I hope this has given you the picture of what is going on. This did not occur in Open Office. Please try to fix this. I do not want to reinstall Open Office simplt to format my vertical lines more easily. In your form are listfields. The listfields aren't shown - only the values that were in the table. When you click at the column-header it could be, that there appear the listfields with the text, as in the example of OpenOffice (which version?). An attachment with an example-database would be helpful. I'm not quite sure what you mean by listfield. Of the fields which don't appear correctly, two are simple text fields (Name, Comment), the third (Supplier) comes from a linked table.
