not a bug as is (not an improvement is not an error description, but an

Most typographers follow the rule that the last word of a paragraph should not
be hyphenated. Like this:

Most typographers believe the last word of a paragraph should not be hyphe-
  nated. [WRONG]

Most typographers believe the last word of a paragraph should not be
  hyphenated. [RIGHT]

In my opinion, automatic hyphenation should follow this rule, or at least give
the option of not hyphenating the last word of a paragraph.

Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.0.0.beta1
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description: Cell rendering differs from Version 3.6.4.3

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a new spreasheet with Version 3.6.4.3
2. Set value of cell A1 to 1000
3. Set the cell number formatting to

[0]+0,00;[0]-0,00;#

(French version, decimal separator is a comma)
4. Save document
5. Open it with Version 4.0.0.1beta

Current behavior:
Cell is rendered as +1000,00

Expected behavior:
Cell should be rendered as +1000,00
[i.e. without the double quote character, as it is with version 3.6.4.3]

Additional comment: maybe the problem is in the format string itself (shouldn't
contain the quotes characters), but it worked with version 3.6.4.3

--- Comment #11 from Patrick patr...@mom-labs.eu ---
Hi,

I have the same/similar problem with Version 3.6.4.3 (Build ID: 2ef5aff) on XP
Pro 32bit.

My issue is, that images in Impress are missing after save and reopen the
document, but in edit mode? only.
As soon as I start the slide show (hit F5) the images are shown.

And so far, this happens only, but always, when I copypaste pictures directly
from ANY MS Word 2010 or MS PowerPoint 2010 document.

Happens not when doing CopyPaste from Gimp or Adobe Reader for example.

Can anybody confirm this, or is it a totally different bug?

Confirming on 4.1.0.0.alpha0+ (Build ID:
f00b77c856067b77a6dc5c2d90cc1205d87de03), Linux.

Possible solutions:

* displaying white font colour as black (removes some of the advantages of the
drop-down and might confuse people when they actually apply the style)
* making sure the transparent background is visible – e.g. using a chequerboard
pattern (would look pretty ugly on the majority of styles [i.e. those using
  black fonts])

..?

The title says it all. Steps to reproduce :

1) Create a new Writer document. Type some text. Save the file.
2) File Digital Signatures brings up the Digital Signature management dialog.
3) If no signatures are already present/listed, there is no way to add new
digital certificates/signatures, or even to manage the existing ones.

So, how is this done ?
The only possibility I have found is via Tools Options Security

and then it only looks for NSS security certificates, i.e. in Firefox and
Thunderbird profiles. Where have the other certificate support protocols gone ?
Is there some kind of special build option I need to add in ?

Looks like a pretty horrible N^2 algorithm in some rendering code; fix pushed
to master and -4-0. It is now ~instant to select for me. Having said that I'm
troubled that that VCL window appears to have 6000+ children - though why I

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 58191] New: EDITING: A “+” is Displayed Incorrectly at the Mouse Pointer while Moving a Chapter inside the Navigator

Classification: Unclassified

  Reporter: harald-koes...@htp-tel.de
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 3.6.4.3 release
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:

If you drag a chapter inside the Navigator with the mouse to another position
and at the same time press the Ctrl button, a “+” is displayed at the mouse
pointer. It suggests that a copy of the chapter is performed. But only a move
is performed.

In order to reproduce, do this:

(1) Open a new text document and insert three headings.
(2) Display the Navigator and display only headings in the Navigator.
(3) Press the Control button and drag one of the headings inside the Navigator
with the mouse to another position. The “+” is displayed at the mouse pointer
!!!

This is only an unimportant flaw, but it would be nice, if not only a move is
possible but also a copy of chapters with the Navigator. Such a function makes
sense if you like to create several similar chapters and you want to use one of
these chapters as a template for new chapters.

If you open a text document the headings inside the Navigator are always

On the German user mailing list a user complains about this function. He
stated, that he will still use OpenOffice, hence there is a better solution.

Proposal in order to improve the function: After opening a document headings
inside the Navigator should be displayed in the same way as they are displayed
at closing of the document.

Autocorrect only works when you're tying typing fluently. e.g. Automatic word
capitalization, auto replace etc... does not work if you've moved the cursor
using the mouse to some place else; i.e. it only works after you've pressed
space or enter.

So I suggest a feature to force run autocorrect on selected text or paragraph.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 55570] autocorrect slow-down

2012-12-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon

(In reply to comment #7)

retested with latest daily build with Micheal Meeks fixes.
Version 4.0.0.0.beta1+ (Build ID: 63f68ccd72d9d6dc847f1b6ebf19ee2f8019f54)

I redid the test with current LibO 4.0 daily build
 Version 4.0.0.0.beta1+ (Build ID: 7061f72159e38e76134bc7fefc8a75cd233889c)

 ...

 master 4.0.x

 acor_.dat 65K entries
 6 seconds

now it takes just 3 seconds.

 acor_.dat 65K entries + acor_it-IT.dat 55K entries
 13 seconds

now it takes just 6 seconds

 master 4.0 + acor_.dat 65K entries + acor_it-IT.dat 119 entries
 18 seconds

it still takes 6 seconds.

so it's seems that the performance of 4.0 beta has improved since 3.7 alpha,
but it's still worse than 3.6.x

so, the performance is dramatically increased and now if even faster than 3.6.x

consider that the test has been performed on a 4 years old laptop so newer
machines will probably have better performance

as my tests show, the freeze time doesn't get worse with larger autocorrect
databases... is still takes the same time (6 seconds) if you deal with two 65K
lists or with one 65K list and one 119K list

the same happens if you have only one list...
it still takes 3 seconds either if you use one 65K list or a 119K list.

so, let me say WELL DONE!!! NICE FIX MICHEAL!!!

did you install the optional libreoffice*-stdlibs package?
(i.e. do you have a libgcc_s.so.1 in the LO installation)

iirc this package should not be installed on modern Linux distros
because it can cause conflicts with system libraries.

AFAIK (please correct me if i'm wrong) these features were not

I have the same problem, but in my case it's happened with Enveloped DL and
printer Samsung ML3310ND. I think it's related with the dialog between printer
and libreoffice(maybe related with printer's driver capabilities[1]). In the
libreoffice print dialog, the Enveloped DL option doesn't appears. If i use
another application to print (like firefox or google chrome) it show the
Enveloped DL on the print dialog, and print fine the Enveloped DL document.
Also I tried to choose another printer on libreoffice and the Enveloped DL
options appears! (i think the problem is between libreoffice and printer's
driver[1]).

[1] The Samsung ML-3310ND support Enveloped DL pagesize.

Mirrored bitmap images are displayed unmirrored in writer and in page preview.
In the preview window of the print dialog they are displayed correctly, print
output as well as pdf export are ok.

svg-images are ok.

The attached screenshot compares LibreOffice Version 3.6.4.3 (Build ID:

Top row are svg images (left side normal, right side flipped horizontally). The
bottom row are identical png images.

Version 4.1.0.0.alpha0+ (Build ID: c88508bc53e7df7ead7bc1b102da3d7dd81f768) on
debian shows the same bug.

Steps to reproduce:
1. load png image in writer.
2. flip image horizontally

Importing a pptx with an embedded chart displays the chart with the horizontal
axis scaled incorrectly, which makes the graph data display with a horizontal
compression.

In the attached examples, the png files were generated by the LibreOffice and
Microsoft Office save/export functions, but the same effect is visible in the
normal editing view of LibreOffice Impress.

This may be related to bug 54460

2012-12-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=32181

--- Comment #20 from Werner wk66...@gmail.com ---
I tried to fix this in the patch https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/1300

There seems to be one additional whitespace (with variable width?) at the end
of each line with soft line break. Underlining this whitespace leads to the
problem described here. This is also visible for left- or right-aligned text,
where one additional space at the end of line is underlined. For some reason
this whitespace can be very big for block-aligned text...

Changed the functions which draw textlines to omit a possible trailing
whitespace.

everyone.

Second, just a warning, as stated on FDO's site

Additional Comments:
Be aware that all comments posted, including attachments are public. if this
is a major concern for you, the attachment should be deleted.

Now on to the actual bug, what we need is a page number to look at, the
document is quite large and it's hard to tell where the issue is. On 3.6.3.2
tables look fine but general structure is broken (a separate bug for sure). I
see text going on the wrong page(s) and what not. As for lines on the tables,
they look perfect to me.

Marking as NEEDINFO, please tell me exactly where to look and what to look for
(an image attachment of what you see might help). And I'll get this triaged.
Once you get this info please reopen this as UNCONFIRMED. Many thanks

I actually am positive that I read the polar opposite on another bug report
(where a user got irritated that images couldn't go outside of print zone) but
I'll have to dig around to find that bug.

As for your suggestion, so if an image moves down and it forces it to go out of
the print zone, it would then just end up on the next page? I'm not sure how
that saves much time if you still have to edit the image to get it back on the
original page.

Many thanks for clarifying

Changed wording from must to should as it's less aggressive and this is an
opinion bug.

Marking as an enhancement request, low priority.

Rationale:

Enhancement: LibreOffice behaves as it's expected to behave, this enhancement
request could make LibO more functional for some users but isn't a bug.

Low: Navigator in general is not a very much used module of LibO, only more
advanced users really even know about it.

Don't think low priority means it won't be looked at by a developer, it simply
is saying compared to features that virtually every user uses, this one is
lower in relative terms

Version is always the version that the bug was originally found in OR the
version that the enhancement was first thought of. If this was 3.5 go ahead and
leave it. There is always confusion about what version means but it does mean
the oldest, not the newest or latest, version, where the request was made
against

--- Comment #3 from Joren De Cuyper joren.libreoff...@telenet.be ---
I can confirm. My LO version even CRASH when I try to open
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=69955 (I'll add attachment
soon).

LibreOffice Version 4.0.0.0.beta1 (Build-id:
87906242e87d3ddb2ba9827818f2d1416d80cc7)
TinderBox: MacOSX TDF Release, Branch:libreoffice-4-0, Time:
2012-12-05_22:13:37 with Dutch Language pack; Installed on a Mac OS X 10.8.2.

Even a simple frame saved as a .docx will result in a text frame that cover the
whole page.

How to reproduce:
* Create a frame with a background color (for example green) and a border in
Microsoft Word
* save document as .docx
* Close Microsoft Word
* Open file with LibreOffice 4.0 beta 1

(I'll upload this .docx test file as attachment.)

Result: the frame covers the whole page. Page is now filled with the background
color of the frame we created in step 1.

This is a REGRESSION, because the file opens correctly in LibreOffice 3.6.4.3
(Build-id: 2ef5aff) (also Dutch Language Pack and Mac OSX ...)

Even frames with text in it, created with LibreOffice 3.6.4.3 and LO 4.0 Beta
1, and saved as .docx will result in a page without a frame. The text isn't
gone (just not in a frame anymore).

I think there is a serious problem with frame-handling in LibreOffice, with a
regression for LO4.0.
