[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 63627] MinGW: Windows (All apps) slowing down due to excessive disk access

Some more info. The Mozilla products Firefox and Thunderbird (TB) suffer from
the same thing: Firefox a little, and only when flash-like software is fired
through the container functionality. TB suffers more, but by far not as much as
LibreOffice.

The short term solution for Mozilla products is to clear all history. After
that they behave themselves for some time.

The approach in Excel is consistent and logical - the only issue with it is
that there is no way to know whether (blanks) means cells that are blank or
cells that contain the string Contains)

Oops - I meant to say the string blanks, not the string Contains.

Dear Joren co!

Thank you for your hint, Joren! I renamed my user-profile (during update from
LiO 3 the installer made a new folder in ~/Library/Application
Support/LibreOffice/
Now there is 3 and 4, but the settings where transferred to 4)
After renaming user LiO doesn't crash and I get the menu, when I click on a
note -- problem solved!
System: also OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.3

Thanks for your help!!
Michael

PS: With former versions of LibreOffice (v3) I often had crashes (also after
fresh install) and so I had to use alternatives like NeoOffice. As far as I can
evaluate 4.0.2.2 runs completely stable and I'm glad I can use it now as a
standard!

The described bug appears in a different way on LO 4.022, but the brush still
doesn't do the job properly:

- It copies fonttype and -size, but e.g. the fontweight is ignored.

I didn't test it out extremely, but I suppose, there IS an issue.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 38880] Precision in CSV import

2013-04-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38880

--- Comment #5 from Anurag Kanungo anuragkanu...@gmail.com ---
I would like to work on it , as stated it ignores the precision of the import
cells , basically it removes the zeros only that exist in end after the
decimal, like , it will reduce 100. to 100 only , but if we use 100.0234 it
will remain as it is 100.0234 on import in cell . So, here we have to remove
the code which removes the end zeroes .

Can i have the path to the file , which contains the code of removing end
zeroes , such as i can edit to secure precision .

Remark: Everything is fine if you select only single words (without ever using
Shift+Ctrl+Arrow). This problem only occurs if you use Shift+Ctrl+Arrow. For
instance if you select a word and then use Shift+Ctrl+Arrow left or right to
select the word to the left/right of the cursor, then I could always reproduce
that this section keeps to be selected (even if you delete the whole text!).
But sometimes I could even reproduce it for single selected words (but only
after using Shift+Ctrl+Arrow), but where I could not figure out under which
reproducible circumstances this happens, but it has something to do with the
Shift+Ctrl+Arrow combination.

Note: If you press Shift+F8 you get no system feedback. To see in which mode
you are right now, you have to go to the middle of the toolbar at the bottom of
WRITER. There you have a grey square on which you would have to make a left
mouse click.

Summary|EDITING LO can paste data |EDITING LO can paste data
   |into read-only file via |via third/middle click if
   |third/middle click |Edit File is turned off

--- Comment #5 from Papamatti matti...@yahoo.de ---
I can confirm this behavior on Ubuntu 13.04 Beta with Libre Office V4.0.2.2.

Reproduction:
1. Open impress
2. Save the empty file everywhere you want
3. Turn off Edit File button.

Normally you cannot edit the impress file anymore.

4. Get a text from everywhere (texteditor, internet) and copy it to the
clipboard
5. Switch back to impress and press the middle mousebutton.

You can see you insert textboxes into the impress file and impress does not
realise it as a change, you can switch Edit File on and off without asking
for saving the document after a change!

In WindowsXP you cannot paste data into impress if Edit File is turned off,
because paste is greyed out and you cannot click onto it. In Ubuntu you can,
paste is not greyed out!

I have test it with LO Draw, and the behavior is the same in Ubuntu!

This is a bit annoying, because you can modify documents while a presentation
accidently!

Can someone test this on other platforms? (Mac, Win7/8, other distros/GUIs)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 57529] FORMATTING: Brush-formatting/the 'undo' of brush isn't working properly

2013-04-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon

I can not reproduce it. The UNDO button works fine for me for all: font, font
size and font style (font weight).

@Daniel: But in your last comment you wrote that FORMAT PAINTBRUSH does not
work correctly. I supposed you meant the UNDO for FORMAT PAINTBRUSH is not
working properly or is there a misunderstanding? Nevertheless, in the
described test case both works fine for me, the FORMAT PAINTBRUSH and UNDO
function.

Can anybody else confirm this behavior? Is this maybe a Linux issue only?

Actually there are two bugs mentioned in this bug report.

Regarding the main bug that the spliiting bar is not saved correctly, I have to
say that this is for me not reproducible with LO 4.0.2.2 (Win7 Home, 64bit).
Does this issue still persist for you with the latest release of LO? If not,
then I would propose to close this bug report.

But there is another issue mentioned in step 3 which is not correct. This bug
probably relates to bug 33688 with the FREEZE function. It would be good if
would open a separate bug report for this.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 63753] New: drop nonexistent include paths from makefiles

2013-04-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=63753

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 63753
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: drop nonexistent include paths from makefiles
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: dtar...@redhat.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: unspecified
 Component: Libreoffice
   Product: LibreOffice

This is in preparation of the big header move:
https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/#/c/3465/ ; there is nothing to do here at the
moment.

The goal is to drop obsolete include paths from gb_Executable_set_include,
gb_Library_set_include and gb_StaticLibrary_set_include in makefiles.

I have added a check to gb_LinkTarget_set_include in
solenv/gbuild/LinkTarget.mk that prints a warning when it encounters an include
path in $(SRCDIR) that does not exist. The warnings printed by make should be
checked one by one and the reported paths removed from their respective
makefiles. If $$(INCLUDE) is the only remaining argument of gb_*_set_include
after that, the whole function call should be removed. It might help to
temporarily change gb_Output_warn to gb_Output_error, as this will break the
build instead of just printing a warning.

After all warnings are cleaned, the gb_Output_warn should be changed to
gb_Output_error.

Could you please give more information about your bug to reproduce it?
Why do you need the FORMULA BAR if you are in the chart format mode after two
left mouse clicks on the chart? This bar is used for inserting a formula into
a cell? If you select the chart only with one left mouse click or select any
cell in the sheet then you would have the FORMULA BAR.
Or is there a misunderstanding from my side?

I would advise against working on this as stated in Comment 4. This is a
Proposed EasyHack, not a real one. Plus I don't see a value in this feature
itself, which may impact the loading performance of CSV files in general for a
very marginal gain.

Could you pleae give more information about your bug.
For me it is possible to rotate a frame with LO 4.0.2.2 (Win7 Home, 64bit).

- from the DRAWING toolbar select the RECTANGLE and place it inside the WRITER
document. Then select this rectangle with one left mouse click and make a
right mouse click on it and go to POSITION AND SIZE and there to the tab
ROTATION and now you can rotate the rectangle.

Or is there a misunderstanding from my side?

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 63754
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Behaviour after uninstalling the Java RE
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: swa...@web.de
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.2.2 release
 Component: Libreoffice
   Product: LibreOffice

When starting LibreOffice after uninstalling the Java RE it produces the same
error message window 10-15 times:

LibreOffice requires a Java runtime environment (JRE) to perform this task.
The selected JRE is defective. Please select another version or install a new
JRE and select it under Tools - Options - LibreOffice - Java.

Not only is this annoying, also the location of the options is not correct.

Moreover, I've a perception of libreoffice opening and saving faster than my

2013-04-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Just tested now with the new LO 4.0.3.1 with 10.8, bug still present and even
worst.

- Drag picture (.jpg) from a folder to a document writer -- it opens a drawing
page and paste the picture.

- Drag picture (.jpg) from the desktop to a document writer -- nothing
happens.

In LO 3.6.5, dragging a picture from desktop or a folder to Writer always open
a drawing page. Here, with LO 4, it's different.

In both cases, dragging a picture to writer must paste the picture on the
writer page.

Please, can you fix this bug

Thanks

Where did you found product announcements? File

Can reproduce with LibreOffice 4.0.1 on Linux, x86-64.

This bug can be worked around easily (by directly formatting parts of the text
with another font), so setting severity to normal again.

Option (1) from your comment 4 seems like the best way to improve behaviour to
me.

Bug ID: 63756
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: FILEOPEN: LibreOffice is unable to open 2003 XML files
which are not encoded in UTF8
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: mich...@op.pl
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA

Example file (windows-1250 encoded).

Problem description:
LibreOffice is unable to open 2003 XML files which are not encoded in UTF8. I
attached valid file with encoding windows-1250 (polish). Same file converted to
UTF8 opens without problems.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Save file in 2003 XML,
2. Open with Notepad++ (or something similar),
3. Change encoding,
4. Edit xml header in file and change encoding,
5. Try open in LibreOffice (general I/O error).

Current behavior:
Fails to open.

Expected behavior:
Should be fixed. Last known working version was OpenOffice 3.0.
Operating System: Windows 7
Version: 4.0.1.2 release

The bug is still there in LibreOffice 4.0.2.2, in both your binary build at
http://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/stable/4.0.2/rpm/x86_64/LibreOffice_4.0.2_Linux_x86-64_rpm.tar.gz
and the Gentoo Linux official package (which I compiled myself). Please try to
reproduce it using the GTK+ interface (it is the default one under Linux, I
suppose)!

@A:
Undo only helps if you know that you did a mistake! May be we can leave the
feature, but I would like to hear any real life example of someone who really
needs that. I will ask at UX advise and other users.

We definitively need a warning that edits will be applied to other sheets.

Cannot reproduce as described in 4.3.0.1, the symbol is inserted without
 paragraph breaks.

Can you point me at instructions for getting 4.3? I'm getting updates beyond
4.0.2.2. I don't mind searching a site for the answer to this questions if I
can get a vague pointer in the right direction.

Can't confirm this behavior with LO 3.5.7 and LO 4.0.3.1. Have created a Long
Text-field, also an input-field in a form. Could change the content. The
button for saving the new content will be activated, when the content has been
changed.
LO 3.6.* is not available at this time at my PC. My system: OpenSUSE-Linux
32bit rpm-Linux.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 56076] FONTS SUBSTITUTION: no way to control glyph substitution if glyph is missing from font

2013-04-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56076

--- Comment #12 from Yury yury.tarasiev...@gmail.com ---
First thing first, I'd like to thank you, Stefan, for your prompt answer.

Now...

(In reply to comment #10)
This bug can be worked around easily (by directly formatting parts of the
text with another font), so setting severity to normal again.

Option (1) from your comment 4 seems like the best way to improve behaviour
 to me.

(In reply to comment #11)
Also, let me say that I don't agree with comment 8 : Suppose you send a
...

Comment 8 might be somewhat drastic, but I'd still call this quite an issue.

So I can reformat the offending part with another font. But what if I didn't
even /notice/ the offending part?
What if another font /also/ has these glyphs missing or has /another/ set of
glyphs missing?
LibO gives completely no indication of this kind of typesetting problem. What's
worse, it sort of lies to the operator. Set a cursor into the such 'silently
processed' region. Does it at least /show/ anywhere that the face is different
from what's set in style?

Meanwhile, WordPerfect had been allowing the nearly perfect control over the
glyphs/codes and faces for about 20 years now (I mean at least since WP for Win
6.0). Hmm?

BTW, with the current default faces' lists, the 'Andale Sans UI' recipe doesn't
work anymore and has to be renamed 'Segoe UI' recipe now.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 58260] EDITING: Don't deactivate the calc formula bar when activating and deactivating a chart

formula bar in excel when editing a chart

Why do you need the FORMULA BAR if you are in the chart format mode
after two left mouse clicks on the chart?

Sorry, I give for known that when you edit a chart in MS Office, you can edit
if directely from the formula bar when selecting a series. You are able to do
this insead of entering in the chart dialog. And yes, it's quite useful. I'm
attaching a screenshot of how it seems and works.

This bar is used for inserting a formula into a cell?

Yes, or at least, is positioned in the same place. The main difference is that
in MS Excel, you don't need to make a double click over an objet to activate
it. So, when you select on object as a chart, the formula bar remains in the
same place, but it shows the formula series (see screenshot).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 61437] UI: Failure during dektop integration on Squeeze X64

2013-04-20 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61437

--- Comment #2 from Rolf Heinrichs rolf.o1.heinri...@gmx.net ---
Hello JBF,

LO4 is working now.

Yes I used the recommended procedure with dpkg.

Looks like my installation had several remainders of previous LO
installations like 3.3, 3.4 and 3.6. An apt-get purge cleaned off enough
to make the desktop integration installer work.

As a last thing I had to remove an Math 3.6 entry with the menu editor.
Since then I can work with LO4.

Maybe its a good idea to describe the apt-get purge procedure in the
manual.

Thanks, best regards, rh

How did you make installation? Using dpkg?
The best way to install a new major version on Linux is to remove the old one
 first...
On Ubuntu, I have the same error or warning messages during desktop
integration, but without visible further drawback.

 Best regards. JBF

Are the two files identical just different encoding? I don't get an I/O error
but I one opens in Spreadsheet with just A1 filled in while the other one opens
in writer with just straight xml.

Let us know if these are just the same file saved in two different encodings

Need more info - what operating system are you running off of? And the other

investigate.

marking as NEEDINFO, let us know what operating system you're running and mark
as UNCONFIRMED, I'll then try to triage the bug.
