[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 63627] MinGW: Windows (All apps) slowing down due to excessive disk access
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=63627 --- Comment #2 from Hans Lodder hans.lod...@results2match.com --- Some more info. The Mozilla products Firefox and Thunderbird (TB) suffer from the same thing: Firefox a little, and only when flash-like software is fired through the container functionality. TB suffers more, but by far not as much as LibreOffice. The short term solution for Mozilla products is to clear all history. Reproduction: 1. Open impress 2. Save the empty file everywhere you want 3. Turn off Edit File button. Normally you cannot edit the impress file anymore. 4. Get a text from everywhere (texteditor, internet) and copy it to the clipboard 5. Switch back to impress and press the middle mousebutton. You can see you insert textboxes into the impress file and impress does not realise it as a change, you can switch Edit File on and off without asking for saving the document after a change! In WindowsXP you cannot paste data into impress if Edit File is turned off, because paste is greyed out and you cannot click onto it. In Ubuntu you can, paste is not greyed out! The goal is to drop obsolete include paths from gb_Executable_set_include, gb_Library_set_include and gb_StaticLibrary_set_include in makefiles. I have added a check to gb_LinkTarget_set_include in solenv/gbuild/LinkTarget.mk that prints a warning when it encounters an include path in $(SRCDIR) that does not exist. The warnings printed by make should be checked one by one and the reported paths removed from their respective makefiles. If $$(INCLUDE) is the only remaining argument of gb_*_set_include after that, the whole function call should be removed. It might help to temporarily change gb_Output_warn to gb_Output_error, as this will break the build instead of just printing a warning. After all warnings are cleaned, the gb_Output_warn should be changed to gb_Output_error. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Comment 8 might be somewhat drastic, but I'd still call this quite an issue. So I can reformat the offending part with another font. But what if I didn't even /notice/ the offending part? What if another font /also/ has these glyphs missing or has /another/ set of glyphs missing? LibO gives completely no indication of this kind of typesetting problem. What's worse, it sort of lies to the operator. Set a cursor into the such 'silently processed' region. Does it at least /show/ anywhere that the face is different from what's set in style? Meanwhile, WordPerfect had been allowing the nearly perfect control over the glyphs/codes and faces for about 20 years now (I mean at least since WP for Win 6.0). Hmm?
