Unlikely, I think. In my situation preview and edit mode behave
equally. You have found other bug.

This bug shows when set the column width almost the same as the text in
the auto-wrap cell, while text in that cell is in a single line.
Maybe I should file another bug report.

Hi Stuart,

(In reply to comment #4)

Not to too finely split hairs but to what changes and restructuring do you
 refer?

Different option in paragraph styles, different default styles, quite radical
change in page style, different working of Ctrl+M. This just out of my head, so
there prolly will be more.

picks taken from our git repo of AOO svn, without substantive refactoring,

Sorry, but it seems you have to look better (but of course that discussion does
not belong here.)
Kind regads,
Cor

If you really do need to save to this old format, you are probably better off
using the converter that ships with Office 97 SR-1/2 or Office 2000, or MS's
import converter for 6.0/95.

DOCX containing character shading

Problem description:
When opening a DOCX that has text with character shading - LO changes the shade
of the characters from light gray to dark gray.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open the attached DOCX in LO
2. The shaded characters are shaded with dark gray instead of light gray

Current behavior:
LO colors the shade of the characters in dark gray

Expected behavior:
LO should shade the characters with light gray, like Word

It is important to note that the shade color is transferred with the DOCX
itself, which means that LO either changes it or ignores it and chooses its own
color.

This is the node in the 'document.xml' that is responsible for the character
shading:

 w:shd w:val=pct15 w:color=auto w:fill=FF/

DOCX containing character shading

Problem description:
When a DOCX that has character shading is loaded to LO - the character shading
color is dark-gray (while in Word it is light-gray). this is an import issue
already reported here:
https://www.libreoffice.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=65399

When saving the DOCX back to a NEW.DOCX and opening it in Word - the character
shading remains the dark-gray, instead of the original light-gray that was in
the original DOCX (information is changed).

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open the attached DOCX in LO
2. Save as a NEW.DOCX
3. Open the NEW.DOCX in Word
4. The character shading is now dark-gray instead of light-gray in the original
DOCX.

Current behavior:
LO exports to the DOCX the changed dark-gray color as the character's shade.

Expected behavior:
LO should export the light-gray color to DOCX and not change the original
shading color.

Operating System: Windows 8
Version: 4.0.3.3 release

This sort of stuff is one of the reasons for widget layout.

For the old school stuff the sw/source/ui/config/optdlg.src had...

Pos = MAP_APPFONT ( 100 , 80 ) ;

for the spinfield and

Pos = MAP_APPFONT ( 12 , 82 ) ;
Size = MAP_APPFONT ( 70 , 10 ) ;

for the checkbox, so seeing as the checkbox text is slightly truncated if we
change the width of its Size from 70 to 80 then the last h will surely fit.
With 80 + 12 = 92 for the right edge which is still before the 100 x pos of the
spinfield so it won't overlap and we don't have to move everything else around.
(presumably a pile of other translations still don't fit and a perfect
pre-widget-layout solution requires checking each and every one to get the best
size to fit all)

The server is currently a development prototype made in pure php. I was
searching for such a solution but not being able to find one, i started writing
it. It will probably make it in the public domain once it's as stable enough
for a beta version.
The problem anyway is in the use of the cmis:propertyId tag.
In the first example there are an opening and a closing tag with no text
within. The missing text is what is causing the crash, it seems hat loo is
expecting some text to be there.
In the second example the tag is single: cmis:propertyId /, loo doesn't
crash.
I can publish a test server somewhere if it can help you.

DOCX containing text with highlighting *and* character shading

Problem description:
When loading a DOCX in LO that has text with highlighting *AND* character
shading - the highlighting is not shown.
When loading the same DOCX in Word - the highlighting *is* shown on the text.
The only effect you see of the character shading is in the spaces between the
words that have highlighting. Word does not do overlapping of the character
shading and the text highlighting, but it *does not* lose the information,
meaning - if you remove the highlighting from one of the words in Word, you
*will* see the character shading on that word.

This is related to the bug I opened here:
https://www.libreoffice.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=65399
(that bug speaks about the character shading itself only)

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open the attached DOCX in LO
2. There is no highlighting on the text - only a dark-gray shading to the
entire text.

Current behavior:
LO colors the entire text with dark-gray character shading.

Expected behavior:
LO should show the text with highlighted colors and between the words show the
light-gray character shading.

Hello everybody,

If I type space+--+space I get space+en dash+space thanks to the replacement
table of Autocorrect, but this is typographically inappropriate, I should
rather get unbreakable space+en dash+unbreakable space.

That is, spaces too should be replaced. Unfortunately there's no way for me to
get the replacement table to do this. I believe the insertion of unbreakable
spaces should be turned on by default or, at least, users should be able enable
this substitution manually.

crashes sound very annoying but this report doesn't give any hint as to why it
would crash...

with the only hint being while typing, what i can think of is:

there were some changes to AutoCorrect in version 4.0,
can you try if it helps to disable word completion
(go to Tools-AutoCorrect, WordCompletion, uncheck Enable word completion),
will it stop crashing then?

if it still crashes then, does it help to go to Tools-AutoCorrect,
Options, and uncheck everything?

if even that still crashes then we know it's not AutoCorrect's fault.

WE seem to get some overlapping text in the extension manager on master -
perhaps some minimum size request mis-calculation ?

It looks like the version is not included in whatever width calculation is
needed; or is this the result of my larger font-size and:

 object class=deploymentgui-ExtBoxWithBtns id=extensions
property name=width_request600/property
property name=height_request320/property

:-) happy to fix it, but advice appreciated.

into dp_manager::ExtensionManager::getAllExtensions to help track down what
 that WrappedTargetRuntimeException is about

I could only reproduce this in a system-installed build with no debuginfo.
Sadly now I can't reproduce it anymore - which is profoundly frustrating.
Possibly I was having DNS / connectivity hiccups at the time (if that helps) -
though why we should do any networking during getAllExtensions is unclear to
me.

Hmm.

I would -dearly- love to have these un-caught extensions caught and printed out
un-conditionally, in shipping builds at the top-level to help debug this stuff;
did we decide not to do that for some reason ? [ we do on Android IIRC ].

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 65412] New: FORMATTING: Frame mirroring not save if horizontal position is center

2013-06-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=65412

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 65412
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: FORMATTING: Frame mirroring not save if horizontal
position is center
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: fbug...@linuxmail.org
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.2.2 release
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 80338
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=80338action=edit
Frame's option used to reproduce the bug

Problem description (short):
When creating a FRAME anchor to page, using mirror on even pages option will
not be saved when setting horizontal POSITION to center.

Problem description (long):
I use mirrored page style in order to print on two sides keeping a larger
inside margin.
So I use a frame, placed on the outside border of pages, to number the document
pages (I know I can use the footer, I just like better this way). And I use
the option mirror on even pages in order to keep it on the outside border.
But if I select horizontal position to center, when I close the document, next
time I open it the option mirror on even pages is no longer marked and the
frame is always on the right side.
The problem does not occur when setting horizontal position to anything
different than center (inside, outside, from inside).

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open a .odt document
2. Go to Insert Frame and on the window that appears:
3. change Anchor to page; check the box Mirror on even pages; and change
Position Horizontal (Center) to Outer page border. Press OK.
4. Go to Insert Manual Break Page Break OK (in order for the documento to
have 2 pages) or press enough times Enter.
5. Select the Frame created on step 2-3 and copy (Ctrl + C)
6. Click anywhere on to the second page of the document and paste it (Ctrl +
V).
(You should see, on the first page a Frame on the right side and, on the second
page a frame on the left side)
7. Save the document and close it.
8. Reopen the document
(Now you should see Frames on the right side on both pages)
9. If you enter into the Frame's proprieties, will see the option Mirror on
even pages is no longer marked.

Current behavior:
Mirror on even pages option is not saved.
(when the Frame's configuration is set to (i) Anchor to Page; and (ii)
Horizontal Position to Center)

Expected behavior:
Option Mirror on even pages should be saved no matter what Frame's
configurations I choose.
Operating System: Ubuntu
Version: 4.0.2.2 release

If the text doesn't fit, then in that particular widget its supposed to be
ellipsed according to the code, but isn't for some reason. So that's the major
bug.

That widget itself isn't layout aware, its a complicated existing thing. I
should probably set a size request in terms of approx_char_width * foo rather
than a pixel size.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 48967] : Request for a Firefox Style Menu Button

2013-06-05 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48967

--- Comment #10 from Patrick Gillespie vtp...@myfairpoint.net ---
Hi Stefan, I have three children. I'm a writer in my spare time. I carpenter
and build to earn income - which is barely enough.

I'm not a developer. I haven't written a line of code since 1984.

If I'm the only one on the planet who thinks this would be a good idea, then
close it.

I'd much rather see Libre Office deal with far more important and glaring
deficiencies:

1.) No ability to vertically center text (without fiddling and faddling with
text frames). I can vertically center a . (period) in Word, with nothing else
in the document, and Libre can't convert it.

2.) Smart quotes don't work if you end a sentence with a dash.

3.) Libre needs a wild card in its auto-correct feature. As it is, Libre won't
auto-correct anything that's not discrete.

4.) TABS. This isn't 1992. Who still thinks it's a good idea to open a
separate window for each and every document!?! Let me know the next time you
use a browser that doesn't have tabs.

And yes, all these issues have been reported. Years ago. As soon as you send
somebody to work on my carpentry crew, I'll knuckle down, learn some code, and
solve these problems.

Hmmm. Not sure I get all of it - so this is now a _new_ crash, unrelated to
the previously-discovered interaction with Cinch? If yes, maybe a new bug
report would be good, and a reproduction description.

Gilles: it could be very useful you provide a minimal step by step process to
reproduce the crash.

Hi, my problem seems to me very similar to the originaly reported bug (#63206):
crash happenning erratically, quite often, but not reproducible. This is why i
did not report it as a new bug. If you prefer i can report it as a new one.

I would -dearly- love to have these un-caught extensions caught and printed
out un-conditionally, in shipping builds at the top-level to help debug this
stuff; did we decide not to do that for some reason ? [ we do on Android
 IIRC ].

Note that this is from a non-main thread, so generic catching of
css::uno::Exception to print its Message would need to go into
osl_thread_start_Impl, but that's too low-level to know css::uno::Exception.
The best approach would be if css::uno::Exception inherited from std::exception
and would use its what() for Message, so that GCC's
__gnu_cxx::__verbose_terminate_handler would print it out along with the
exception's type. But that would be an incompatible change.

Would love to go deeper, but - it seems that the updatecheck.cxx catches and
discards all exceptions silently from similar code, so updated
updatecheckjob.cxx to do the same: no point in killing the whole suite if we
can't connect to the update server :-)

Not a satisfying fix, I'm still ~certain there is some twisty badness in the
extension registration / querying logic - but ... can't find it :-)

To who it may concern,

I'm experimenting the same issue same crash report the problem occurs
regularly, I can corroborate is not related to single document, it has happened
with various documents. The problem occurs after a long while that the
application is kept open and not exactly in a sleep state, it has happened
while working on the document and always happens when you are writing. The
difference with Marcool is that I'm using my LO with the Spanish package and
the documents are in spanish.

Hi Stefan, I have three children. I'm a writer in my spare time. I carpenter
and build to earn income - which is barely enough.

Sorry. I did not mean to offend you. Not sure if that makes it any better for
you, but I am a volunteer here, too.

 I'm not a developer. I haven't written a line of code since 1984.

I am not a developer either. And you don't need to be do things on the design
team.

If I'm the only one on the planet who thinks this would be a good idea, then
 close it.

As I said – that's certainly not the case. The problem is just that even if a
developer came here and wanted to do this, there is far too little information
here for him/her to work on this. We'd need someone to think about this, make a
careful plan and push for implementation.
Proposing a single menu button without proposing new spots for all the things
that inevitably won't fit in there is a pretty big non-starter.

I'd much rather see Libre Office deal with far more important and glaring
 deficiencies:

[That's all a bit OT. But except for #4, I fully understand why you'd want
them. Feel free to send me a mail linking to the bugs you created – though I
can't give any promises here at all.]
