[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 66050] LibreOffice crashes after adding Extension Duden Korrector

2013-06-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=66050

--- Comment #2 from Hans Immel hans.im...@gmx.de ---
Korrektor / Duden Rechtschreibung 8.0.0.2

Crash happens on my DELL Latitude E6430 with Windows 7 64bit SP2 as well as on
my Samsung NC10 with Windows XP 32bit SP3.

Duden works fine on both Systems with LibreOffice 4.0.4 as long, as the
instructions of Duden support are followed: Duden Korrektor will work with
this version only if you put the stlport_vc7145.dll from 3.6.x installation
somewhere in your %PATH%.Note that you will have to have also MSVCR90.DLL
installed on your system.

This however does not seem to apply to 4.1. Crash seems to have to do with a
MSVCR90.DLL

Can#T say wether it's a duplicate of fdo#58177 because LO doesn't even start...

Hi Thomas, I can see the bug info when I start LO from the command line.
Otherwise, you cannot see anything, simply it doesn't generate the report.
Following your advice, I've tried it with 4.1.0.0.RC1 but no luck so far.
Thanks for your interest.

  Severity: major

OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: thack...@nexgo.de
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.1.0.1 rc
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Hello @ll,
I hope, I have chosen the right component and have not missed an already
reported bug ... ;) If so, feel free to change the component or closed this bug
as dup ... ;)

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Writer
2. Enter a word per line until you are on page 2
3. Open the Gallery via Tools - Gallery
4. Drag the left topmost picture after your last word (this shouldn't have to
do anything with this bug, but as I was triaging a but, when I stumbled upon
this one, I am not sure about it ... :( )
5. Press Ctrl+Z (or Edit - Undo) as often as you can
6. You should see a greyed out Undo button
7. Press either Ctrl+W or open a new document

Observed: Writer closes silently the new created Untitle 1 window and either
closes
Expected: Writer should asked to save the document or open a new document
without closing Untitled 1

LO: Version: 4.1.0.1 Build ID: 1b3956717a60d6ac35b133d7b0a0f5eb55e9155

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 65863] Image Auto Rotates when inserted

2013-06-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=65863

--- Comment #5 from Tomaz Vajngerl qui...@gmail.com ---
Hi,

Actually, LO doesn't rotate your picture, it is the other way around - other
programs rotate the picture according to the exif meta-data in the picture.

The trick is that when you take a picture with a camera and you hold the camera
vertically, the camera will detect this orientation but won't rotate the image
however it will mark in the exif meta-data of a picture what was the
orientation of the camera when a picture has been taken. Most programs
automatically detect the picture orientation and rotate the image automatically
or they ask to rotate the picture for you. LO does not detect this - at least
not in 4.0. In 4.1 it also detects this and ask if it should rotate the picture
for you or not.

When you have shrunken the picture, the orientation has been reset and the
picture has been saved correctly rotated, this is why you had no more problems
afterwards.

If you still have the original picture then please check in LO 4.1 if it works
and asks to rotate the picture (in Writer).

Regards, Tomaž

You mean insert copied cells in the pop-up menu where excel doesn't overwrite
but moves the existing cells? Yes, this is useful. The usage is also context
dependent - depending on what you have copied (cells, row, columns). When you
copied cells it asks if it should move content left or down.

  - unixodbc 2.2.14p2-5
  - libmyodbc 5.1.10-3
  - MySQL 5.1.66-0+squeeze1

Seems the versions in OpenSUSE are a little bit older: unixodbc 2.2.12,
libmyodbc 5.1.8
Versins differ a little bit between SUSE 12.1 and SUSE 12.3

 Test done:
  - open .odb
  - click on Tables in left pane
  - enter valid password
--- and then comes the crash.
  - double-click on a table to read the contents
--- couldn't see any tables in both versions.

I have tried to get other packages work (32bit instead 64bit; newer versions of
unixodbc). Couldn't connect to MySQL with this packages and LO.
Then tried Edit → Database → Properties → Test Connection.
The messagebox appears: The connection was established succesfully.
But when I click on Tables in left pane LO crashes.

The commands ` and ~ are supposed to produce small and large gaps. However,
they are currently exported to MathML as empty mi elements, which have zero
width. I've prepared a patch to use the MathML element mspace instead and
will submit it for review.

An example of the spell checker incorrectly marking a correctly spelled word as
being incorrect.

Problem description: Placing a comment half-way into a word breaks the spell
checker, as the corresponding word is seen as segmented on the comment
selection borders.
First noted in LibreOffice 4.0.2.2 on Ubuntu 13.04.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Write text with correct spelling
2. Place a comment so that it begins/ends inside a correctly spelled word.

Current behavior: The word is segmented at the comment (if no selection) or on
the comment selection borders.

Expected behavior: Spell check should ignore all comments.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 32420] Add TeX like \not to Math

2013-06-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=32420

--- Comment #4 from Frédéric Wang fred.w...@free.fr ---
(In reply to comment #3)
So, the neg ? solves your problem?

neg is to take the negation of a Boolean expression. In LaTeX \not strikes
its argument. For example \not \in will produce the same as \notin. In Math,
you can do in and notin, but you don't have a general way to strike with a
slash (you may however use overstrike do draw an horizontal strike)

FYI, to implement \not, MathJax tries to get the corresponding negation of a
given Unicode character if it exists or uses 'COMBINING LONG SOLIDUS OVERLAY'
(U+0338) otherwise. Alternatively, menclose notation=updiagonalstrike could
be implemented in Math.

Well, Thomas, let me reiterate: ALL LANGUAGES.

Why? Because on OS X every language user must first install the English
version, then a language pack with localized UI and help must be installed.

How does a Chinese or Arabic user know what are requirements or special release
notes about the new software? Since the actions to install are simple on a Mac
(one just drops the icon in the Applications folder and install starts and
finishes) there is no way (if it is not a native speaker) to know if there are
things to beware or not do ...

Unless release notes are meant only for English speaking users, or just for
Americans.

--- Comment #5 from Frédéric Wang fred.w...@free.fr ---
I was reading the Math parser in order to find how to fix bug 55853 and other
MathML export issues. I realized that in various places, String::Copy calls are
used (e.g. to test a substring). I'm not really sure about how the String class
destructor works, but that could be a potential source of memory leaks. I tried
to track them with valgrind but was not able to run soffice within it (or
perhaps I didn't wait enough, the libre office dev doc says it is 80 times
slower). Anyway, I submitted a patch for review:

https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/#/c/4457/

(note: probably, the code should be migrated to the new string API, but I don't
want to do that now)

Hello Andras, *,
(In reply to comment #3)
@Thomas: see the attached screenshot. The stock MediaWiki template is on the
screenshot. Of course, first you have to make the LibreLogo toolbar visible
in Writer. The bug is that you don't want to see LibreLogo toolbar in a
preview window or for a read-only document.

ah, OK. If I switch activate the LibreLogo toolbar before, than I can confirm
your bug :(

As of comment 4: Should we not change the version to 4.0.4.1, as this is the
older confirmed version? I have installed the ooo2gd extension as well in LO
Version 4.0.4.2 (Build ID: 9e9821abd0ffdbc09cd8c52eaa574fa09eb08f2) under

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 65704] UI: Sound and media panel UI stays forever in Writer, and is slow to open sounds

2013-06-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=65704

Hello Goran, *,
(In reply to comment #3)
When you dock the media player there is no close button on the window. There

but yohan has not written anything, that he docks the media player ... ;) And
when I dock it, I can easily undock it again and close it then ... ;)

is no option in the menu to show or hide the media player like there is in
 Impress (Tools Media Player).

If I undock the media player in Writer, I have the usual x on the right to
close it, or can use Alt+F4 ... ;)

To hide the media player in Writer you need to use the trick. Click and drag
on any empty space in the media player region. The window should popup and
there will be a close button.

That does not work for me w/ LO Version: 4.1.0.1 Build ID:
1b3956717a60d6ac35b133d7b0a0f5eb55e9155 and installed Germanophone lang- as
well as helppack under Debian Testing AMD64 and KDE 4.8.4 ... :(

The media player shows when you double click on any sound in the galery.
There should be a menu option to hide the media player in Writer. In Calc
you can not double click on a sound in the galery and the media player does
 not show.

OK, but that would be another bug (or better feature request ... ;) ).

Tested with LibreOffice 4.0.4 release, but I think this goes back too. I am
switching importance to minor as a clear workaround exists.

OK
Thanks for your additional information
Thomas.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 66081] New: Improve grouping of binary operators

2013-06-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=66081

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 66081
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Improve grouping of binary operators
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: fred.w...@free.fr
  Hardware: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.2.0.0.alpha0+ Master
 Component: Formula Editor
   Product: LibreOffice

This has been reported on the MathJax mailing list:
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/mathjax-users/_naUsEP0Rxs/OH33AWIc5akJ

If you type e.g.

a + 2 b

the grouping in the parsed tree will be

{a + 2} b

rather than

a + {2 b}

Note that a + 2 * b will produce the correct a + {2 * b}.

Also, binary operations like

a*b*c + d*e*f + g*h*i

are grouped like this

{ { { {{a*b}*c} + {{d*e}*f} } + {{g*h}*i} }

while operators of same priority could just be grouped together like this:

{ {a*b*c} + {d*e*f} + {g*h*i} }

This is not really visible in the editor, but one can see many mrow elements
if you export to MathML.

I think the solution to the first problem will be to interpret 2 b as a
Product (using the terminology of the grammar in
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/tree/starmath/source/parse.cxx#n1170),
so that it becomes of priority higher than Sum. If we fix bug 55853 without
breaking https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=11752, then 2b
(without space) should become of priority higher than SubSup. I guess this can
be done by grouping token variable and number tokens in one Term here:
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/tree/starmath/source/parse.cxx#n1420.

The second problem is less serious (the operator priorities are respected), so
that could just be fixed in mathmlexport.cxx where binary operators of same
priority will be grouped in one mrow. We can use the priority from the MathML
operator dictionary
(http://www.w3.org/TR/MathML3/appendixc.html#oper-dict.entries-table) but the
simplest will be to use the nGroup property of the token associated to the
binary op node.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 55853] FORMATTING: Variable with coefficients not italisized

2013-06-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55853

--- Comment #6 from Frédéric Wang fred.w...@free.fr ---
For the current bug, I think the solution is to modify SmParser::NextToken() so
that numbers and identifiers are treated as separate tokens i.e. 2n will be
interpreted as 2 n. (BTW, we need to interpret 2 n as a product, but this
can be done in bug 66081).

Then if we want to preserve the x_2n syntax asked in
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=11752, the solution will be to
modify SmParser::Term() so that a list of numbers and identifiers, not
separated by spaces will be grouped into a single SmExpressionNode and
returned. Since SmParser::NextToken() skip white spaces, the absence of white
space separators should be verified in the SmParser::Term() itself when numbers
and identifiers are grouped.

Hello Haim, *,
(In reply to comment #3)
I have already commented, but my comment appeared to disappear.

this could happen ... :(

At any rate, you are right that when Exporting directly as PDF, the
comments look more like a page symbol, where you have to click to see the
comment This is not great, but may be tolerated.

But why don't you use this way? There you would be able to finetune it eaven
further ... ;)

However, when we try to File -- Print -- Save as PDF, the problem that I
described does appear (as shown in the attachment).

Ah, OK, a little bit more complicated ... May I ask, why?

If I follow these steps, then I can confirm your bug ... :(

Regretfully, it happens that customers want to look at the PDF
representation of a file, with all the comments.

OK.
Sorry for the inconvenience again
Thomas.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 65863] Image Auto Rotates when inserted

Hello J.D., *,
(In reply to comment #4)
I would still have to classify this as abug, but of just lower importance.

OK. I will switch it to normal then ... ;)

 When a LARGE image

How did you define large? As in a wider and taller picture or with a higher
resolution and thus a larger file size?

file is imported as a picture, which is taller than wide,
 LOWriter rotates teh image 90*.

I haven't one to test ... :( All my pictures, which I insert in Writer don't
rotate ... ;)

At first I thought this was a bug for ALL images of that aspect ratio, until
I tried shrinking one of them to a smaller physical resolution. Once shrunk,
the image imported without a problem.

O.K.

That said, the image did appear to be of a lower quality than the ones which
used their full native resolution (jpgs produced by a Canon Rebel XSi DSLR)

Would you be so kind to attach one of these pictures from your camera? Maybe
this is really related to the exif information inside, as Tomaz mentioned in
his comment 5 ... ;)

A related bug, which I don't know if I need to create a new bug report for
or if I can piggyback on this one since it also deals with the same
 pictures:

It is usually not a good idea to combine two or more bugs in one bug report. If
it is not reported before, I think it is better to open a new one.

When a writer document gets in excess of a certain size, the

What does in excess of a certain size mean? That it exceed a certain number
of pages? And/or because of too much inserted images/sounds/videos its file
size extends a certain MB value?

program is unable to read the images embedded in the document. Should I open
a new bug for this or not?

Have you tried to change the values under Tools - Options - LibreOffice -
Memory (especially the options below Graphics cache)? Does it change
anything, if you increment the values there? So, maybe not a bug, but a too
restricted memory ... ;)

And as Tomaz in his comment 5, I would recommend it in a newer version than
4.0.0.3 again ... ;)
Sorry for the inconvenience
Thomas.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 66083] New: libreoffice base crashes executing macro

2013-06-23 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=66083

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 66083
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: libreoffice base crashes executing macro
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: willem.sa...@gmail.com
  Hardware: All
Status: NEW
   Version: unspecified
 Component: Database
   Product: LibreOffice

Hello,

I tried to create a database with LibreOffice. It contains some macros. When
starting the database I am first prompted to enable the macros. Then I get a
form, containing several buttons. Most buttons activate macros that print a
report. These reports are based on queries. I have created the database for
someone who only uses Windows 8.

Now here is my problem:

I have created and tested the database in Windows Vista. Sometimes everything
goes well, and sometimes not. The reason is not clear, because sometimes there
is nothing changed and the next time it goes wrong again. I tried LibreOffice
4.03, 4.04 and 3.6, all versions with both JRE 1.6.0_22 and 1.7.0_25. One time
everything works, sometimes the database crashes, after clicking a button to
print a report. When using LO 3.6 and 4.0.3 the database seems to freeze (not
responding) so I have to close LO and start again, each time with the message
that the database must be restored. After this recovery than it will work
again, even without something been changed. With LO 4.0.4 I get a window to
restore the database immediately after clicking the same button. Then I start
again to restore. After that I reopen the database and after clicking the same
button I get the same window to restore the database.

When tested under Linux, I have had no crashes yet. Mageia with LO 4.0.3 and
openSUSE with LO 3.6.
Using Windows and Apache OO there seems to be no such bug.

--- Comment #2 from Michel Rudelle mchl.r...@gmail.com ---
Indeed, you are right, this is the point, and the behaviour is the same with
previous versions (4.0.3.3 and 4.0.4.2) - I was mistaken because in versions
4.0 this option was by default on Always recalculate and in version 4.1 on
Never recalculate.

I tested older versions (4.0.0.3 and 4.0.2.2) and I found they behave in the
same way according to this option. I don't understand what changed with the
patch committed to fix bug 60215 and I wonder if this last one is really fixed
?

As far as I understand this option, there is an issue there because my file
example was created and saved with LibreOffice and this option should not act
in this case.
What should we do? change the subject of the issue ? Open an other issue ?
What's your idea ?

In Base, Reports which opened correctly in 4.0.3.3 cause a crash in 4.0.4.2.
(Tables, queries and forms operate as expected.)
The crash occurs on trying to run the report or edit it. A newly created report

trying to save the report. I have reverted to 4.0.3 so that I can continue to
use reports.

The extension is called 'MyTXTCleaner' - originally an OpenOffice extension.
It's been abandonned/obsoleted - so there's no way that the programmer, Luca
Calcinai, will fix it... See here:
http://lukesblog.it/ebooks/ebook-tools/mytxtcleaner/

The alert is just annoying - it would be nice to have an stop alerting me
about this update checkbox somewhere.
(Maybe an 'addons' screen, with Dis/Enable, Remove, Options, à la Firefox's?)

Test case:

{x wideslash y} newline

Proposal:

- wideslash can be exported as mfrac bevelled=true
- There is not any mfrac equivalent for widebslash, so perhaps just use an
mo\/mo.
- overstrike {sometext} can be exported as menclose

Nice finding thackert.

I can confirm this on Ubuntu 13.04 + LO 4.0.2.2.

After undoing all I could undo and then hitting CTRL + W the document closes
without giving the user the option to save it.

Also reproducible on OS X 10.8.4.

Setting to NEW. Changing platform to ALL.

This is expected and intended behavior - if you want it to move you should
anchor it to the paragraph and as paragraph shifts to next page, so will
object.

We wouldn't change behavior of anchor to page, adding an additional anchoring
option is tricky (as it might not comply with open standards) and seems like it
would just provide a slightly (very slightly) different anchor than anchor to
paragraph.

Therefore, marking as WONTFIX

Thanks for the suggestion
