Demo file working by selecting a new sound and saving in 4.4

In LO 4.3 and 4.4 following the steps from Comment 5, I was NOT able to
reproduce this bug. The slideshow played the sound. When I loaded the demo file
and reselected a different sound, the slide played the correct custom animation
sound during the slideshow.

Since newer files play sounds just fine, either impress-sound.odp is corrupt or
there is an incompatibility with Impress playing sounds from presentations
created with older versions. If that's the case, we should open a new report
for that separate issue as this report is getting unwieldy.

This is a showstopper bug.  Impress is not usable.  Ordinary actions such as
editing text or resizing a box can cause it to crash without warning.

I'd like you to change it so the pictures are embedded. Otherwise I'm just

This might be several bugs, but they all pertain to one document. I labled the
documents cited with [X] where X is a number (explained at the end) and the
possible bugs with {}.

I have a document which I have to update several times a year. Originally, it
was a word file[file 1] and I once (around 2008) saved it as odt and now I only
copy the latest version and update the file. This worked with the Debian
version of Openoffice.org / LibreOffice up to and including
1:3.5.4+dfsg2-0+deb7u2 (although with minor visual artifacts not relevant
here).

Recently I upgraded to version 1:4.3.1-2. Now the fields no longer pop up in
separate windows (I don't mind it, in fact, I think without windows is better),
but unfortunately the entire file is write protected {bug 1}, i.e. also the
fields themselves. This is reproducible with old copies up to the oldest once
from 2008. Since the file(s) contain(s) sensitive information, I cannot provide
it in the bug report. Instead I unzipped the odt, replaced the sensitive part
in content.xml and zipped the resulting directory tree [file 2].

Strangely, this file I can now edit as expected, except that I get an I/O
error, when LibreOffice quits and I confirmed that I want to save {bug 2}.
Saving within the document still works (and keeps the content).(I rarely try
this, so this bug might be older).

I tried the workaround from bug 70577 (which appears similar), however, then I
cannot edit the fields anymore and after a few attempts to edit a field
LibreOffice became unresponsive and I had to kill it from the console.

After deactivating the workaround from bug 70577 the previously read only files
now can be edited as expected, however, the I/O error when saving during
close as described above remains.

I also made a copy of the original word file [file 1], opened it and saved it
as odt. This file worked as expected, except that I could not click on the
beginning of fields, I had to use tab to get into them or click in the middle,
otherwise an error popped up. However, this is no longer reproducible after
trying the workaround from bug 70577 as described above :-((

I'm willing to provide information, run tests etc, please tell me what I should
try to nail this down.

Thanks for your report. However it works for me: There is a setting for this..
Tools  Options  Calc  General .. Extend references when columns/rows are
added (or something similar)

So for now I close as WORKSFORME. Might there turn out to be a problem in some
specific details, then pls reopen with those details.

I start the TDF Libreoffice with strace and test the connection to CMIS https:
strace libreoffice4.3  debug_lo.txt

Close LibreOffice and grep for libnsspem.so which result in no match.

LibreOffice *never* load libnsspem.so.

You get a different backtrace than Olivier Musson. Also a backtrace that will
happen only in a debug build. You get an unexpected thrown exception, something
which is just ignored in a release build, but leads to an abort in a debug
build. The interesting information would be which exception thrown from where.

Well, anyway, I still cannot reproduce (in my debug build).

Also, I now realise that the original reporter said the problem 'disappeared'
in a newer version, so actually your (Marina) abort may be a completely
different problem and unrelated.

My proposal to solve this problem: When an Icon Theme is changed in Preferences
 LibreOffice  View instantly change Theme in LO without requiring to confirm
OK.

* users instantly see the theme and can make a decision much faster, which
theme fits their needs best

Click OK  keep latest selection
Click Cancel  revert to theme which was initially selected when dialogue was
opened

Presently when the main button of the insert field group button
(.uno:InsertFieldCtrl) is clicked, it opens the fields dialog, which is already
accessible with the 'other...' option in the drop down, so its best that the
default button should be insert page number, as its the most frequently
inserted field type, and this default doesnt need to be changed whenever a user
decides to add a different field.

1. My first suggestion: I clicked on the choice to submit an improvement and
arrived here. If the link is broken, please be advised. If the link to submit
an improvement is the same as the link to submit a bug, then you ought to say
so, and not confuse us.

My second suggestion: After a bug has been submitted your next web page should
advise the submitter of the Bug Number. I needed to correct a bug submission
last night and couldn't accurately describe my earlier submission.

My third suggestion: I added a file by browsing, however there was no Upload
button. When I clicked on Browse again, for the second file, it over-wrote (or
lost) the first file. I still don't know what I did wrong.  Maybe it's a user
training issue? Maybe the upload button is hidden until needed? I certainly
looked for it, but it wasn't there. I have just tried again, but still/again
there is no Upload button.

First I thought it may have been the printer driver (Epson Stylus D78 -
CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.10) but then the output was the same with PDF printing
(Generic CUPS-PDF Printer). This is CUPS v1.7.3/Debian/sid.

I attach my PDF which is the same as the print output.

(Libertine O does not possess the problem.)

Please point me to the information you need and I'll gather it. This may be a
cups or gutenprint problem but I observe it for quite a while now.

I just discovered it may has something to do with a tiling helper program I use
(BetterTouchTool). It seems that the behaviour is correct until I hit one of my
keyboard shortcuts which resizes the window to quadrants or halves of the
screen. LibreOffice's refresh is essentially broken until I quit and restart it
(a new window with a new presentation remains affected, an actual quit is
required). I will try to contact BetterTouchTool to get feedback.

Do you guys see anything on your end?

Agreed. I had only looked at the beginning, as this was the initial bug you
raised. The PDF export is yet another problem IMHO, for which you should open a
separate report.

Your tiling tool could effectively be causing a disconnect between the main app
window and the menu commands until a drawpage refresh is called, but this could
be LO's fault, I guess it would depend on the methods called and whether LO is
supposed to behave nicely with other tiling apps.

If you have customized you toolbar, there are probably icons with no large
size.

Thanks for your quick answer.

After computer restart, everything is OK !... strange bug

For information :
- No recent major system update (Linux mint 16 installed  one month ago)
- Daily Mint update, perhaps including LO update (I don't read everything)
- No extension installed
- No extension to rite formula

Perhaps problem comes from my system.

Did you try using the attached doc in either Kingsoft Writer or Word? When
resized by dragging, one image scales proportionally, while the other does not.
This is because keep ratio is part of the doc/docx spec and other office
suites respect it's value. 

Are you saying that this information should be discarded between saves? Or only
remember the keep ratio parameter when saved in .docx format? Currently,
without actually being associated with the underlying image, keep ratio is
just a confusing UI element.

 (Generic CUPS-PDF Printer). This is CUPS v1.7.3/Debian/sid.

Peter, I tested using Debian 7 stable (CUPS v1.5.3 with Gutenprint v5.2.9-1).
There have been CUPS-related issues in the past and this may be another, but it
will require a developer to determine this.

Indeed, I think .deb or .rpm provided by TDF is more for Linux distrib

Simple example libreoffice presentation document

Create a presentation that includes an image that has been cropped.  Save the
file as a Microsoft PowerPoint 2007/2010/2013 XML (.pptx) document.  Exit
libreoffice.  Open the saved .pptx document using libreoffice ('libreoffice
filename.pptx').  Observe that the display of the cropped image has become
corrupted.  Viewing the 'Crop Picture...' settings, it apperas the Crop Bottom
changes from 0.92 - 1.69 and the Scale Height changes from 146% to 830%.

A simple example file - Example001.odp - which is working with .odp and the
resulting .pptx file (Example002.pptx) are attached.

Mac OS X allows switching between several windows opened by the same
application by pressing cmd key together with  '  key (it's a default
system option).

This hot keys combination works also with Libreoffice up to version 4.0.6; and
it does NOT work for newer versions.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Install Libreoffice 4.2.x or later
2. open an application (e.g. writer) and several different windows;
3. select a window and press cmd and  '  at the same time.

Current behavior:

NOTHING happens.

Expected behavior:

SWITCH between multiple windows opened by the application (e.g. writer).

For each image in a file, the picture-type-keep ratio checkbox is forgotten
when you close the dialog box. Instead, LO should remember this setting for
each image in writer, impress, and presentation documents. 

The new attribute should be saved in the loext namespace.

To see how other office suites use the keep ratio attribute. Open the
attachment 107017 in Word or Kingsoft Writer. Note how one image is locked,

sfx: Use constructor feature for ShutdownIcon.

At that time there were a lot commits like this, they looked like a mechanical
conversions to me. Maybe this one contains a trivial error, that went in
unnoticed. Maybe Stephan or Matus can see it quickly.

Before this commit the quickstart icon appeared in systray, after this it did
not, I only saw soffice.bin and soffice.exe in task manager. I think it is the
root of the problem, quickstart component is not initialized properly.

This odt file has been created by conversion from a .doc file. You can verify
this point by checking the names of numbering styles, you will find style names
like WW8Num1 which are WinWord8 style names.
If you open the Navigator to examine the objects of this document, you will see
that there is 10 hidden tables. AFAIK LibreOffice does not have the ability to
hide a table. 

I suggest 2 ways to try to fix the problem:
1/ unzip the .odt and remove the hidden tables from the content.xml and
compress the file again.
2/ come back to the original .doc file with MS-Word, make sure that all objects
included in the document are not hidden, save the file under another name in
both formats doc and docx. Convert these new files to .odt using the current
stable Fresh' version of LibreOffice.
