I hope you can reproduce the problem with the following procedure: Make a table. Fill in a cell with a value of a few tens of characters. Make the cell's column very narrow, say half an inch wide. The strings and words of the value will break across lines. Look at the places where words break. A word will break, of course, when there's not sufficient room for the next character. There might be a little bit of space, but not enough. Try to find a place where this little bit of space is as narrow as possible. Click at that narrow space. The caret might appear, as it should. Then try to key in a character. Now Libreoffice might hang. Or the caret might not show, Libreoffice having hanged already. If Libreoffice doesn't hang, adjust the cell width to find an even narrower space at a word break, and try again. All of Libreoffice hangs - not just Writer and the current document. Other applications might also be affected. When it hangs I can see in my System Monitor one processor running at 100%. A demo version is available for download. Setup in Demo version (Mac) In Preferences Bibliography: a) enable Insert citation as footnote b) select Turabian footnote as Format type. Steps to reproduce: 1) in the workspace that initially opened you'll see three text panes. Select some text in the middle pane (titled Matthew Henry abridged). 2) Select menu Edit Copy as Bibliography 3) Switch to LibreOffice Writer and create a new document 4) Paste into body... crash. Doing the same in OpenOffice Writer works. A related bug: formatting 1) for the highlighted text, choose menu Edit Copy as Citation 2) Paste into OpenOffice writer doc... and into LibreOffice Writer doc 3) see different results. Turns out that it's only a problem in my normal user account. The test account I created does not show this problem. So it seems that something I've added to my normal account is causing this. I see now a secondary odd behavior: every time I open LO and create a new document, Safari immediately begins to download the LO installer. Just started happening yesterday. So I obviously have some investigating to do. Up until this weekend LO was acting normally. I don't recall installing or changing anything at that time, but perhaps I'm just not remembering. If I can find the culprit I will report back. The general wisdom that I collected is that is that /usr/local/bin is for user programs not managed by the distribution package manager such as locally compiled packages that must be safe from modifications, overwriting and deletion when the package manager is invoked. If this is the expectation, the principle of least surprise strongly suggests not to break it. This regardless of whether the program is an official part of the distribution or not. And in fact, non-distribution packages, such as all packages in ubuntu ppas and software provided by third party vendors as packages tend not to pollute /usr/local. Also because when you accept the idea that it is OK for a packaged software to pullute it, it gets unclear where to stop. E.g.: if it is OK for a packaged software to put a link in /usr/local/bin, would it be OK also to put 100? and to put all its libs in /usr/local/lib? Furthermore, another reason for not having packages that install across /usr and /usr/local is that (though this is not extremely frequent) setups exists where the /usr and /opt trees are shared among multiple hosts, while the /usr/local tree is precisely local and as such not shared. End user keeps on having to change the new cell's font face when adding on to a table. 1) Create table 2) Select cells 3) Change font face 4) Insert row 5) New cells font style does not match parent table. All new cells created after item three use the default font face instead of the table's font face. An end user would expect the new cell font settings to mimic the already existing adjacent cell / row. Have not checked to see which font settings stay with in the table cell creations. Direct/manual formatting applies to successive paragraphs/characters while typing until it is turned off. Changing styles turns off direct formatting. To keep tabs to your liking, modify an existing style. This result is confusing in light of comment 0. I specifically can't find any version that works in the region of 4.2. @Thehache: Can you confirm that you can export this specific file to PDF from 4.2.7.2, with the image? If so, are you using the official Document Foundation packages, or from another source? And, are you using a 32bit or 64bit system? Setting status to NEEDINFO. So the basic principle of the new design is to move the main fill and transparency drop down lists from underneath the label to the right of the label, which leaves the entire second row for customizing the options. The original fill gradient only shows a drop down list of presets and instead of that, we let the user create their own gradient. The gradient angle drop down list includes values in increments of 15. If its not possible to add extra space to fill two rows of controls when gradient is selected, then fit the four controls in one line in this sequence - type, angle, color from, color to. The color from and color to would need to be change to icon-only drop drop downs like font color and highlighting in the character section. With transparency, the drop down list on the right will only contain none, solid and gradient. When gradient is selected a gradient only drop down list control appears next to the current gradient settings control.
