[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 70759] Writer: Apply Style toolbar Clear formatting action does not clear the formatting but sets style text body
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70759 --- Comment #8 from Patrik patrik.mar...@gmail.com --- I am very glad, that this feature got re-implemented. Removing formatting got really annoying since someone decided that it should mean remove paragraph formatting. Keep it as it is now, by all means. Because: 1) The feature as it is now does what the equivalent in Word Remove Formatting achieves. 2) Pasting text and then removing foreign formatting is a very common use-case. Especially as the Paste Special Unformatted Text feature in LO is not always presented (even though text in clipboard has formatting). Keep it. And if I may suggest: allow users to have a keyboard short-cut. Now it seems only accessible from the menu. The workaround that I use now is to have keyboard shortcuts for: - clear direct formatting - remove direct character formats - apply default character style - apply default paragraph style Which does remove *all* formatting. However I have to press 4 buttons (or write a Macro, which crashes LO at the moment). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 70759] Writer: Apply Style toolbar Clear formatting action does not clear the formatting but sets style text body
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70759 --- Comment #10 from Cor Nouws c...@nouenoff.nl --- Hi Patrik, (In reply to Patrik from comment #8) I am very glad, that this feature got re-implemented. Removing formatting got really annoying since someone decided that it should mean remove paragraph formatting. Keep it as it is now, by all means. Because: 1) The feature as it is now does what the equivalent in Word Remove Formatting achieves. This is indeed what 'Format Clear direct formatting' is 2) Pasting text and then removing foreign formatting is a very common use-case. Especially as the Paste Special Unformatted Text feature in LO is not always presented (even though text in clipboard has formatting). Keep it. And if I may suggest: allow users to have a keyboard short-cut. Now it seems only accessible from the menu. And the context menu and Ctrl+M The workaround that I use now is to have keyboard shortcuts for: - clear direct formatting - remove direct character formats In my experience clear direct formatting also does remove direct character formats. Not character styles. (See my comment #7) - apply default character style - apply default paragraph style Which does remove *all* formatting. However I have to press 4 buttons (or write a Macro, which crashes LO at the moment). .. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

We didn't parse that previously -- now we do, and if it's missing, the separator is disabled. 2) The footnote stream isn't read by the importer, only when the main stream references the footnote one, the relevant part of it is parsed. At the moment we always parse the first (special, separator) entry in the footnote stream, that may be optimized later if it becomes a bottleneck. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 80303] UI: Property mapping - the legend should reflect this possibility
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=80303 --- Comment #9 from Markus Mohrhard markus.mohrh...@googlemail.com --- (In reply to bugzilla from comment #8) Perhaps I've not explained my thoughts well. My earlier comment-5 relates to pie and stacked bar charts where particuar color assignment is important. By using the Range for Fill Color feature it's straightforward and repeatable to get exactly the colors one wants (except that one has to manually edit the series colors to get the legend to match). The shortcoming with manually assigning series colours is that you have to do it for each series, and if you delete then re-create a chart you have to start all over with the color assignments. Using the Range for Fill Color feature means all one's color info is contained with the source data and ready to apply in one go. I've added attached Chart_Colour_Fill.ods to illustrate how I'm thinking. Regards, Allan I completely understand what you want but I see the bigger picture and not just this one use case. There is no solution that works across the different use-cases so I prefer the current solution. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Environment: Win7-64bit, Office 2010, LO 4.2.2.2 Situation: 1. Create a blank docx document - in Win Explorer right click empty space - New - Microsoft Word Document 2. If you open this file with LO, it is opened in a .txt format, which you can recognize by a) font: Liberation Mono, b) Formatting: Preformated Text... or simply by clicking File - Save as - you see file type .txt 3. If yo open the created document (Step 1) in MS Office instead of LO and simply write just one letter (e.g. a) and save it, after reopening it in LO the document is consistent (all format types are now present and by Save as you see the file is a .docx type). And I'm a pretty good debugger of things. I was comparing calculated quantities (a running balance) to entered quantities, a very useful way of verifying data entry. My sheet was, as usual, formatting the results with 2 decimal places. So the failure of equality tests was perplexing. So in short, regardless of its presence in other software, this behavior can cause serious confusion and waste of time as each user encounters it for the first time and has to track down for themselves what is going on. It doesn't even matter whether they do so as I did by investigative debugging or by querying the (excellent, by the way) help and support system. Either way, it shouldn't be a part of normal workflow. Nobody expects rounding errors from addition. Strictly speaking this is not even rounding error-- no rounding is needed for the calculation, so the proper characterization is calculation error.
