In many cases, classes (or individual functions) that are used only internally
in a library are still marked as DLLPUBLIC. The task is to get rid of such.
Please submit each removal as a separate change to gerrit. Sample commits:
e9e3124e00676194a10c52ca1a064c44cb668f98 and
cbac44cec42985593f27d315266ac43de4dbf3eb . 

Don't submit such a change unless you have tested that the code still builds,
of course. And in case of platform-specific code (mainly in the vcl module),
you need to test build on the affected platform(s).

Instead of responding to Joel Madero and Norbert Thiebaud with the same
atrocious nastiness and hostility that they each decided to exhibit (shame on
you both), I chose to dedicate my time to peacefully testing LibreOffice to
find what is actually causing it to crash so often.

I successfully found the root cause of the bug that all the crashtesting VMs
and fuzzers were not able to find.  The root cause of the bug would cascade,
causing LibreOffice Calc to generate an Access Violation.  By narrowing it down
to the root cause, the Access Violation can be avoided, but LibreOffice Calc
will still crash each and every time.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open LibreOffice Calc v5.0.4.1
2. Enter 1 into A1
3. Enter 0 into A2
4. Select A1
5. Go to Format->Conditional Formatting->Icon Set
6. In the resultant dialog box, change the yellow arrow row to "=A2" and
"Formula", and then click OK
7. Select A2
8. Go to Format->Conditional Formatting->Icon Set
9. In the resultant dialog box, change the yellow arrow row to "=A1" and
"Formula", and then click OK
10. Save the spreadsheet
11. Close LibreOffice Calc
12. LIBREOFFICE CALC WILL NOW CRASH
13. Open the saved file in LibreOffice Calc
14. Close LibreOffice Calc
15. LIBREOFFICE CALC WILL NOW CRASH, JUST BY EXITING LIBREOFFICE CALC
16. Repeat steps 13-14
17. LIBREOFFICE CALC WILL CRASH EACH TIME

Note that even if many edits are performed in the spreadsheet between steps 13
and 14, LibreOffice Calc will still crash.  To one of my clients, it made it
look like each edit was causing another crash.  In fact, as steps 16-17
demonstrate, simply opening the file and then closing LibreOffice Calc will
result in a crash.

Based on the behavior of Joel Madero and Norbert Thiebaud, I will no longer be
making my annual financial donation to The Document Foundation.  After
witnessing the treatment I received, I doubt any of my clients will continue to
donate.

Although I will no longer be contributing financially, I hope this bug report
will help improve the LibreOffice project.

Hi, as I don't understand the meaning, I cannot suggest anything.
If, for you, is quite clear, may you please explain?
In IT too, my language (Se a una cella è stato già assegnato uno stile, questo
non viene modificato. Lo stile inserito qui viene poi valutato) the meaning is
for me incomprehensible: if a cell already has an assigned style then I cannot
change that style assigning a different one? It will be after evaluated (!?!)

code to be able to access otherwise internal entities.  (In which case those
uses of DLLPUBLIC should arguably be commented accordingly.)

Also, note that there is different behaviour between GCC (as typically used on
Linux) and Clang (as typically used on Mac OS X, but also on Linux) whether to
treat non-exported RTTI of types with identical identifiers as identical.  This
can e.g. have consequences for uses of dynamic_cast, and can be relevant e.g.
when a class in vcl/inc/ has erroneously been marked VCL_DLLPUBLIC instead of
VCL_PLUGIN_PUBLIC.

TextEdit reproducer file

TextEdit field is not saved properly there. Libreoffice doesn't set control's
content, instead it replaces placeholder text (it remains gray all the time)

I'm developing a base file with embedded firebird databese connected also via
macro to an externale firebird dB.
I'm designing an dialog named DLG_reteRisc with a lot of object.
When I save the file I obtainSEH Exception: ACCESS VIOLATION, than libre office
crash down.
The file recovery work fine: in fact I havan't lost my changes, but when I open
the dialog to modify it I get the same error.

Steps:
1) Open Writer
2) Change to a different icon theme in Tools > Options > LibreOffice > View
3) Icons will change in menu bar and sidebar, but not in toolbar or statusbar

Regression as this works fine in 5.0 daily. Workaround is to close Writer and
then reopen it.

Shot of the operation working on Linux

This operation works on Linux, albeit with sub-par auto-detection of data
series, broken chart graphics and horrid performance. 

Each and single operation on the resulting chart object seems to run on a
single core and take 10-15 seconds to complete. Moving it freely with the mouse
seems impossible.

Again, such loss in performance in MS Office Excel 2013 was not observed. 

OS: Arch Linux 64-bits
LO_version on Linux: 5.0.3.2

Hardware: Intel Core i5-3570K, NVIDIA GTX 780, 16 GB Ram

All LibreOffice windows are closed without any error message on screen, or

All LibreOffice windows should stay open and chosen borders should be
applied to selected area.
OS details:
I'm using Linux Mint 17.2 Cinnamon 64-bit, but using i3 window manager
instead of Cinnamon. (It works when I use Cinnamon).

Area isnt needed to be duplicated in 'Frame and Object' as the Frame and Object
Properties dialog has an Area tab. Regarding the disabling of submenus, no that
isnt possible as the menu bar doesnt function that way of hiding/disabling
submenus based on context.

SYMPTOM:
when auto-correct option "correct TWo INitial CApitals" is enabled, typing a
space after a misspelled Hebrew word (or any word that does not exist in the
Hebrew dictionary) causes a 2 second 100% cpu spike on my Intel i5 machine.
disabling the above mentioned auto-correct option resolves the problem.

EXPLANATION:
after some stepping through a debugger and sifting through source code I think
I have found two bugs related to this. Both bugs are in the file
"\editeng\source\misc\svxacorr.cxx", and should be very easy to correct. (I am
not familiar with the procedure of submitting patches).

1) When a space character is inserted it triggers the auto-correct logic which
looks for two initial capitals. When it detects that, it checks the dictionary
to see if the two initial capitals are intended. This is done in the function
SvxAutoCorrect::FnCptlSttWrd using the following very expensive code:

}

Instead of asking for suggestions and checking for a null list to detect
correct spelling, it should be just be validating the spelling in the same way
as the spell checking code does.

2) The auto-correct code detects the case of a letter using the functions
IsUpperLetter() and IsLowerLetter() which both contain a bug which causes any
non latin character to be recognized as both uppercase and lowercase when in
fact it is neither, i.e. it deduces that a character is lowercase if it is not
uppercase and vice versa. This results in the incorrect conclusion that any
word written in a non latin script has two initial uppercase letters followed
by lowercase letters and thus triggering the first bug.

There is an opposite to spread content: Stumbled recently over the
cross-reference dialog that comprises of all types of fields. So yes to your

Further observations:

Performance when moving the chart improved to good experience when I selected
the Java Environment to use. Previously, LO the case about using Java was
ticked but no environment was explicitly selected.

However it's only when moving the chart. When working with the data (switching
chart types, selecting data ranges) and the chart, everything is still
extremely slow. 

One particular operation: switching chart type from simple lines to 3D curves
ran for ~15 mins before the software became responsible again.

I'm aware this may be out of the scope of this bug, but I believe it's worth
reporting such performance problems when competition handles this easily.

2) Open 'Remote Files'
3) While dialog is loading an existing remote source, press Escape
4) Press escape when master password dialog appears
5) Press escape when authentication required dialog appears
6) Crash

I had an FTP remote source added in the dialog with a master password and
unsaved password to the FTP login.

Frequently, I am to create a lot of cell styles for calc, most of they does
look the same as basic, but the have different highlight. I suggest adding at
least 5 more cell styles:
1) Bad: Cell background is light red, font is bold
2) Good: Cell background is green
3) Neutral: orange background
4) Comment: grey italic font
5) Note: Light yellow background with grey borders

PS: it is low hanging fruit for dev team and very good for users

In Writer, we have single properties dialogs for tables, objects (chart,
formula, etc), frames, and images, but shapes and textboxes have multiple
dialogs to modify the Area (.uno:FormatArea), Line (.uno:FormatLine), Position
& Size (.uno:TransformDialog), and Text (.uno:TextAttributes). In other apps,
objects have these multiple property dialogs.

Combining these properties dialogs into a single dialog will allow easy access
to modify properties that are currently spread across multiple dialogs within a
single dialog, which will improve the user experience and save time.

The new combined dialog would combine the tabs found in the various dialogs,
but exclude tabs for property customization like the Line Styles and Arrow
Styles tabs in the Line dialog and the Colors, Gradients, Hatching, and Bitmap
tabs of the Area dialog. In Writer, the Wrap tab found in the object dialog
would also be included in the combined dialog.

This is the result of a combination of changes:
The first part is in SwDocUpdateField::_MakeFieldList() where all sections are
switched to visible state to create a complete list of fields.

The second part is a fix of https://bz.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=51035, 10
years ago, that skips evaluation of expressions that might be from databases
that are not currently open.

The last is a fix in SwXTextDocument::getRendererCount() that requests a field
update before PDF export which is also called to create the print dialog
preview.

Im sure whether the problem in Coment 11 has the same / a similar cause.

I think the right way to fix it is to get rid of the first part. After the
condition result is overwritten one cannot decide what state the the right one.

That needs to be reported as a New issue, please write it up as a new Bugzilla
report with specific steps to reproduce (as detailed as in comment 10 above).
And a description of what you mean by "cannot export", i.e. the PDF is not
created, it crashes, the PNG is just missing, etc.

It is not duplicate to bug 37678. Bug 37678 is about the behavior of the fields
in the dialog.

To reproduce this bug do this:
Open the attached file. It has 10cm width and 14cm height.
File > Export
Select file type jpeg.
In the export dialog make the following settings in this order:
   Set Quality to 100
   Set Resolution to 300 pixel/inch
   Set width to 10cm.
Save

This setting should result (besides rounding errors) in
width: (10 / 2.54) * 300 =  1181 Pixel
height: (14 / 2.54) * 300 = 1654 Pixel
Indeed, the exported image has the size (w x h): 1183 x 1656.

But when you look at the stored dpi, as reported by a picture viewer like
IrfanView, then you can see the value 96 dpi. The effect is, that other
application will calculate a wrong width for this image. You can correct the
value to 300 dpi in IrfanView and all is OK.

LO 4.2 had not written any dpi into the file, so there it was wrong too.

Expected behavior: The resolution, which was used for generating the pixels for
export, should be written into the file. Jpeg allows such information.

BTW: The export to png does not have this problem, in png-export the dpi value
is correctly written.

After modifying a slide's format or background, a dialog appears asking whether
to apply the new settings to all slides. I think this dialog should be disabled
as i would assume users would likely modify individual slide properties at a
time and if they wish to modify multiple slides, they can select multiple
slides and then open the properties dialog. We use this same multiple slide
select behaviour when changing slide transitions.

Alternatively have a checkbox or button in the slide properties dialog to apply
the settings to all slides.

Hi,

I terms of Accessibility:
If the option "show cursor in read only documents" on the accessiblity option
is set and I open a read only document the cursor is placed anywhere. 
Its a little bit a struggle to get the cursor in the textarea.
It would be great if the cursor is already placed on the textarea.

reproduce:
1. Set the option for show an cursor in read only documents on accessibility
section.
2. open a read only document (maybe an attachment on a mail in thunderbird)

result:
I dont know how to navigate to the textarea with keyboard

expect:
The cursor is already on the textarea.

Oliver,
You seem to be on to it.  By making all fields visible, LO loses the WYSIWYG
pdf export.  In the mean time, I've developed a crude macro that enumerates the
fields and actually removes those which are hidden.  Unfortunately, this
work-around affects the source document before exporting in pdf and means that
the hidden fields are unfortunately lost forever.  I look forward to any fixes
you might create.

Hi,

There is n "Edit Document" button on read only documents. this is not tab
focusable. I m blind and cant use the mouse so I cannot use this button. 
Its not so critical because i can save the document befor editing, but it would
nice if i could use it. There is also no shortcut to activate the button (i.e.
alt + o for _OK).

Reproduce:
1. Open a read only document with writer (maybe a E-Mail Attachment in
thunderbird)
2. try to activate easilie.

result:
i was not able to activate the "edit document" button

expect:
it is tab focusable and has a shortcut.

I use the most current LO (5.0.3) on Archlinux wiht GTK3 Backend.

Thank you for your help!
No previous version was installed on the fresh OS install. The machine we are
working from is has 4GB RAM installed - had no AV installed, and generally 1GB
is more than enough to run LO and Meditech at the same time. 
-A brand new ODT file is used each time we are diagnosing the issue.
-The issue occurs if Java is installed or not. I have test with Java 8u65
(8.0.650.17) and 66v2 so far; same issue occurs no matter that java version.
The EMR does not use Java at all to my knowledge.

Backtrace log has been attached, and I also did a force dump mentioned at the
bottom of the page.

Our system runs on Windows so the problem should show up in there. Not sure
about Unix. From the email you guys already figured that out. Please let me
know if you need more info in addition to the problem file. Our customers are
