[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 97180] New: parenthesis in text are randomly bold
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=97180 Bug ID: 97180 Summary: parenthesis in text are randomly bold Product: LibreOffice Version: 4.4.6.3 release Hardware: All OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Calc Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: teo8...@gmail.com When I enter text in a cell starting with a "+" or a "-" (but NOT a valid formula, so it's text) which contains parenthesis "(" and ")", one of three things may happen, and I can't see a pattern: A- nothing special: the text is left as is, as it should be B- while typing, parenthesis that match become bold; but when you are finished editing, the bold disappears. This could be OK if you were entering a formula. C- same as B, but they do remain bold forever after you are finished editing This seems to have to do with the fact that when the input starts with + or - it is attempted to be interpreted as a formula. So, B might be expected behavior if the decision whether the input is a valid formula is taken only at the end. However, if the entered text is not a valid formula and turns out to be text (the proof being, that when you re-edit it, there's no added "=" sign at the beginning in the input field on the top of the screen), there's no reason for behavior C. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 97173] Page margins (mirrored) reversed in Endnotes (Linux not Windows)
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=97173 --- Comment #4 from Jonathan Joseph Chiarella--- 1. Write a thesis. 2. Put endnotes in the thesis 3. Set page margins in the endnotes by clicking anywhere in the endnotes and selecting format->page: Mirrored. Outer and inner margins set to asymmetric values (e.g. inner 2cm, outer 3 cm) 4. Observe. To reiterate. After a reboot the phenomenon has not resurfaced. The problem never happened with smaller files; only this big one. But that is part of why this rarely comes up. You aren't making 11 MB files unless you're writing a dissertation. But if LibreOffice is to be taken seriously, Calc performance needs to rival Excel and Writer needs to be as bug-free as the gold standard, Word. ODF is great great great. But I have noticed LibreOffice failing me on very large files, which are exactly the use cases that push one to alternatives. The ones who have to use Photoshop instead of GIMP are the professionals. Accountants have to use Excel. Academics often use Office for their reasons. Though they are limited to docx and everyone has to have the same version of office and windows licenses, when all is set up, is just works. Something is going screwy with high memory situations. I have also had Impress spontaneously have nearly every single picture file get corrupted (not just "now loading"), making me re-import the images or load an older version of the file. Something is going awry in high RAM usage environments. I have been using 4 GB over the years and have used both 32 and 64 bit builds. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful. I don't know how to write/read code and this bug is probably buried deep in the workings of the toolkit, or Python, or Java. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=97177 Bug ID: 97177 Summary: FILEOPEN: Libreoffice calc is much more efficient at reading xlsx than its own file format Product: LibreOffice Version: 5.1.0.2 rc Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Calc Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: sergio.calleg...@gmail.com Please refer to the file at https://www.elsevier.com/__data/assets/excel_doc/0015/91122/title_list.xlsx that has already been used as a benchmark in a large number of reports about LibO fileopen/filesave speed. This is a huge xlsx file with all the scientific publications indexed in the Scopus database. Recently, the opening time of such file has been addressed. In fact, recent LibO is quite efficient at opening it (6-7 s on my machine). Thanks to the developers for that! Unfortunately, a weird side effect of this action, is that LibO is now *much* more efficient at dealing with large spreadsheet when those are in the xlsx format than it its own one. To see it, after having opened the file in attachment, save it as ods. Saving still takes a lot of time, but I believe there is a separate bug for that. This is not the issue here. Now, close LibO and restart it, trying to open the file again... This takes a long time (49-50 s on my machine). The bad aspect is not just the long absolute opening time of the ods file. It is the weird fact that opening the native format takes 600% more time than opening the foreign one. At least the file in the native file format is smaller (about 45% smaller). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Not seen this since then (but also not massively looked for it and poked Writer for this kind of behaviour). So I'd close this one for now (and hopefully forever). [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 97173] New: Page margins (mirrored) reversed in Endnotes (Linux not Windows)
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=97173 Bug ID: 97173 Summary: Page margins (mirrored) reversed in Endnotes (Linux not Windows) Product: LibreOffice Version: unspecified Hardware: All OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: jonathan.chiare...@gmail.com Page margins (mirrored) reversed in Endnotes (*nix not Windows) I can't comment on OSX. Set Page Layout to mirrored. Set outer and inner page margins. Works as expected. Odd pages in LTR are on right. Even pages on left. Outer margins on odd pages are on right. Inner margins on odd pages are on the left. Outer margins on even pages on left. Inner margins on even pages are on the right. This is intended for double-sided (front+back) printing, obviously. When there are endnotes, the endnotes are in their own style/formatting section. You have to set up mirrored page layout and margins all over again. On Linux, the rulers are correct. The rulers are shaded correctly (grey vs. white). However, the display does not match the rulers. The text clearly aligns in a way opposite. For book binding you want a larger inner margin. In the endnotes, the outer margin is larger. On printing output and in pdf output, the mistake is there. Inner and outer margins are reversed. However, when I open the same .odt file in Windows, the margins are all fine. I hate booting into Windows, so before I tested this in Windows to file this bug, I just switched the Format->Page settings in the file on Linux for endnotes. I clicked in the endnotes at any old place. I switched my numerical values for outer and inner margin and saved the output in pdf and I got by. I "hacked" it to get the output I wanted, but I would appreciate a proper fix. This problem has nothing to do with first page styles, etc. This problem is NOT present on Windows. This affects 5.0 on linux, possibly 5.1 as well. Using Ubuntu 15.10. Thank you for your work developers. After disabling the extension in LO, this issue was fixed: Now I can print testcase.ods even when testcase.odt is already open. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 97173] Page margins (mirrored) reversed in Endnotes (Linux not Windows)
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=97173 Jonathan Joseph Chiarellachanged: What|Removed |Added Status|NEEDINFO|UNCONFIRMED Ever confirmed|1 |0 --- Comment #2 from Jonathan Joseph Chiarella --- Odd news to report. I know this WAS the behaviour. I made a pdf with the margins in the endnotes set to be the opposite. The original file, now when I open it, is behaving properly. The .odt, now when I open it, has margins in the endnotes (under page settings) behave exactly as it should. It happened all day yesterday though. I opened and closed the program. Opened and reopened the file...same results. Perhaps shutting down and rebooting my workstation made a difference. The only explanation I can fathom is that LibreOffice had some sort of crash or error that got stuck in system memory and was being fetched again. I cannot explain it. I didn't save any screenshots when it was bothering me since I needed to print out my thesis. I changed the margins to "the wrong way" so that they displayed and saved to pdf correctly. I took out my thumb drive and went to the print shop immediately thereafter. Today I tested out the same odt on Windows today and found that the margins on the odt displayed as expected. The pages with endnotes had wide margins on the inside because the page format was set to wide margins. I set the page to wide margins yesterday. When I change the margins in the endnotes to have wider margins on the outside, it works as expected--wider margins on the outside. Libreoffice obeys me. Again, I have no idea why this is the case. I would offer my pdf as proof, but the pdf has no information on the structure of the original odt file. The original odt I used is /huge/. It is a thesis. It took a lot of ram. I am not uploading it here (would not prove anything anyway), but I made a test file to show what I mean by margins in the endnotes. The file should have wider margins in all sections in the inner portion for book binding. Like I said, it is working now. I have had stability issues, memory leaks and crashed with pretty much every single version of libreoffice on windows and linux. I think the error is tied to having a massive file with hundreds of endnotes, graphics, etc. For obvious reasons I am not going to upload a 11 MB file with all of my research here. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 56613] High CPU usage for the Copy animation in Calc
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56613 --- Comment #10 from reint--- Hello, I am encountering this bug too. Now on: LibreOffice 5.0.4.2 . The problem is less on LibreOffice 4.4.7.2 . I am using gtk vcl but it also happens on gtk3. When copying more then 30 rows calc slows down so much it becomes unusable. On 4.4 that is after copying 50 rows. For me this bug is of major importance because I have to copy rows alot. Please tell me if I can help with info or how to disable the dashed border animation. Hitting the menue item nthing happens. Comparing this behaviour with the "range" item (in German "Bereiche...") one above in the format menue it should be just enabled, if there is a comment in it simmilar to the range item, which is just enabled, is a range is defined and a format protery of a range could be manipulatetd. Steps to reproduse : 1. start LibO Writer with a blank document 2. see Menue Format and there "Kommentieren ...", it is enabled (see first screenshot with this report) (the "Bereich" is not enabled) 3. hitting on "Kommentieren..." nothing happens 4. do a range definition and a comment on the writer document 5. see Menue Format: "Bereiche..." is enabled (and hitting on it you can manipulate it (see second screenshot) 6. hitting in "Kommentieren..." you can manipulate the format properties of a comment Expected behaviour: Similar to the "Bereiche..." One must add it. Since it is such a useful button, and a default-displayed button in Microsoft Excel, please make it a default-displayed button in Calc too, so that users don't have to add it. As you know, here's how to add it. 1. Tools → Customize → Toolbars → (select “Formatting” Toolbar) → (scan through the list, see if “Wrap text” command is missing [note: they are *not* in alphabetical order]) → Add$ → select “Format” category → select “Wrap Text” Command → Click “Add,” then “Close” → now, back on the previous (“Customize”) screen, drag the “Wrap Text” command down to where you want it (I recommend putting it right after “Merge and Center Cells”). Done. Click “OK” to exit. Highlight a cell and click, or unclick, the button to toggle “wrap text” on and off. Again, please just add it as part of the default configuration. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Works as intended. When saving the document, the main window becomes unresponsive until the saving is done. C. LibreOffice Language settings: User Interface: Default-English (USA), or English (USA) Locales affected (of what i have tested so far*) English (Aus) English (Ghana) English (New Zealand) English (Phillipines) English (South Africa) English (Trinidad) English (UK) English (USA) Default-English (USA) Amharic The bug does not affect other English Locales. * I have tested language locales alphabetically from "Afrikaans (Namibia) through "Basque". The problem: When entering time into a Calc cell or on a Writer line in the format HH:MM:SS. Corruption of entered values occur immediately after typing the second colon (:) after entering minutes (MM) values of 10, 11, or 12. Does not occur for any other values of minutes. This is not affected by the value entered for hours. If time is copied and pasted from cells into new cells such that a sequence including the affected values (10, 11, 12) is generated, the bug does not show. In other words, I can enter time values of say 01:01:00 through 01:09:00, and then copy and paste into additional cells so that the series continues: 01:10:00, 01:11:00, etc; there is no corruption. When corruption occurs, it is displayed as digits being transposed over each other. If I have entered into a cell or on a Writer line the following value of time: 01:11: (stopping with the entry of the 2nd colon), what I see in the cell is the digits 01 right-justified in the cell, but the 0 is transposed with a 1, such that the two digits appear in the same space, with the 1 to the right. If I continue to enter the seconds digits after the 2nd colon, the value in the cell changes such that I now see the seconds digits I entered immediately to the right of the minutes (and hours) digits but without the colon between MM and SS, and the value is now left-justified in the cell. The same appears in Writer when the values are typed onto a line. If I change the locale from USA to one of the unaffected ones, such as Canada, values are displayed normally. When I use print preview to check the values, I still see the same corruption. Note: I have two copies of Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS installed into separate partitions on the same machine. This bug occurs in either installation with LibreOffice version 5.0.4.2. I also have a Windows 7 X64 install on the same machine, with LibreOffice 4.x installed. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 97193] New: macro to copy/paste using dispatchhelper not working correctly(or as it did previously)
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=97193 Bug ID: 97193 Summary: macro to copy/paste using dispatchhelper not working correctly(or as it did previously) Product: LibreOffice Version: 5.1.0.1 rc Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Calc Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: pherwo...@gmail.com Created attachment 122009 --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=122009=edit a portion of a longer macro that actually works the copy/paste I have a macro in basic to copy data (inc some formulae) which changes each month in one sheet to the end of another sheet in the same document. I attach the appropriate portion of the code. Variables are all set up outside this portion correctly and the 'findend' is my own function to return the number of the first availble empty cell in col A. This also still works correctly. I have 2 MsgBox entries - the first is a safety measure in case the wrong button is clicked - the second I just inserted to check that the correct range for paste is being selected (and it is). Right from old ooo to lo 5.0.2 this has worked. What happens now is that the "uno.insertcontents" instructions appends the data exactly where it should be (say, A300:E316) but then moves all the data above this to the right by the 5 columns (ie F1:M299). This should obviously all remain as A1:G299. (There are 3 extra columns not applying to the new data yet). Other code I have eg to insert a row of new data using the "findend" function works as it should. I assume it's either the "Frame" or the actual "uno.insert..." going wrong. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
