[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 89960] Suggestion to Change Style Behavior in Relation to Direct Formatting
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=89960 --- Comment #11 from John Russell --- I agree with both Joel's cases, although personally I think that the user's last election should overwrite all previous ones. For example often you are working with documents created elsewhere. Power users need to be able to apply styles over existing direct formatting. Naive users will continue with direct formatting. My experience is that I will apply styles first, then overwrite specific parts with direct formatting where I need an uncommon local style. To do it the other way round makes a difficult workflow where you can't see the look and feel of the document until you've finished. LibreOffice Writer is the only package I've seen which does not overwrite previous selections with more recent ones. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 83726] Applying Styles Does Not Consistently Set Character Properties
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83726 --- Comment #15 from John Russell --- I've just spent the last two hours trying to figure out why my styles aren't being applied correctly (to a document written elsewhere) so I'd support Joel's proposal. This is just a terrible UI decision. Witness the fact that AFAIK LibreOffice is the only package I've seen to follow this approach. And it makes it excessively troublesome to use styles rather than direct formatting which at least gives you what you expect. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

When I tried to undo the style change, the Writer froze and RAM use maxed out. I had to try several times to get Task Manager to close it. I tried the same thing again later and got the same problem. It appeared that the frame was converted into a floating frame by the style application. Here are the list of improvements illustrated in the mockup. 1) Alignment - Correctly align child label/controls under their parents and align input controls together 2) Labels - Change 'Fixed' and 'Footer text:' to 'Text:' and 'Language:' to 'Locale:' 3) Separator - As 'Do not show on the first slide' checkbox is not related to the preview. 4) The 'Slide' tab has the heading 'Include in Slide' and the 'Notes and Handouts' tab has the heading 'Include in page', so one of these need to be changed to correct the case. 5) Was wondering if we should change the 'Apply to All' button to simply 'Apply', as applying header and footer properties to all slides is what is the most common. If so, then we should likely change the 'Apply' button to something like 'Apply to Current Slide'. These changes would be made both to the 'Slide' and 'Notes and Handouts' tabs. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99104] Left or right aligned labels
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99104 --- Comment #1 from Heiko Tietze --- The KDE HIG (it is still relevant at the current version 5) wasn't written without discussion (https://mail.kde.org/pipermail/kde-guidelines/2014-January/000626.html). The decision is based on a survey (http://user-prompt.com/kde-hig-survey-about-how-to-align-controls-over-multiple-groups/) where 2/3 voted for this type of alignment. However, the drawback is clearly when labels differ in size, but in this case it works also not well with left-aligned captions. Another objection was based on the consideration that users read the labels - and that is preferrably done from left (given LTR orientation). Unfortunately this option wasn't included in the short poll. We should also take into consideration that alignment might depend on the OS. The problem is the error window only has an "OK" button that has me clicking through hundreds if not thousands of individual cells, presumably until the last one. I have to use windows Task Manager to KILL Libre Office instead. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Select OK for links in document to be updated 2.source has a problem with the delivery causing it to crash 3.Kill Calc with windows task manager, or click through thousands of cells. Actual Results: failure Expected Results: Should have extra button in error window box to cancel the update. Impress doesnt have paragraph or character styles, it only has textbox-level styles called 'Presentation Styles' which is a mix of character, paragraph, bullet, line, and area properties defined at the master slide level. When in outline view, a user can only modify text in textboxes with presentation styles of Title, Subtitle, and Outline X, based on the slide layout the slide has. I further investigated on the bug. The defect does not occur in widget style QtCurve - it seems to interfere with the widget style "Breeze" in KDE Plasma... As I came to the conclusion, that LibreOffice and all the other applications look much better in QtCurve, I simply changed the withget style. However, if there is a chance to fix that bug, it would be great - even if it is not relevant for me anymore... LibreOffice is an outstanding result of work provided by a lot of people - with some alignments in the Look and Feel - which seems from my point of view the only notionable weakness for a lot of people - the acceptance of that work could be increased extremely! Does OpenGL enable for your graphics card and driver--either DE (kde-xfce or kde plasma)? You might want to check if the crashes continue with a current build of master or the 5.1 release. And if the crashes continue with later releases, ideally what we'd need is to catch a stack trace from a debug build. Are you able to roll your own from source? If not, you can try to use the large Linux debug builds of master/5.2.0alpha0 packaged as DEB or RPM format--but believe you'd need to convert for use on Slackware with deb2tgz or rpm2tgz. I don't drive a Slackware build, so YMMV on converting the packages. =-ref-= https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/BugReport/Debug_Information http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/ -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99102 Bug ID: 99102 Summary: rendering of linejoin miter differs between edit mode and presentation mode if antialiasing is on Product: LibreOffice Version: 4.2 all versions Hardware: All OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Impress Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: rb.hensc...@t-online.de Created attachment 124094 --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=124094&action=edit The default minimum angle for miter is 15°. Set your LibreOffice to not use OpenGL. 1. Switch Antialiasing off. Open the attached file. Look at it in edit mode and in presentation mode. 2. Switch Antialiasing on. Again look at the file in edit mode and in presentation mode. Expected behavior: The shapes look the same in edit mode and presentation mode. Seen behavior: A miter limit is used in presentation mode and in edit mode without antialiasing. No miter limit is used in edit mode, if antialiasing is on. I see the problem since Version: 4.2.5.2 Build ID: 6ff819b65674ae6c83f3cbab9e4a4c2b292a7a94 My PC cannot use OpenGL, but I would like to know the test result for the case OpenGL too.
