[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99999] New: Thesaurus in LO does not handle antonyms

2016-05-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9

Bug ID: 9
Summary: Thesaurus in LO does not handle antonyms
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: Inherited From OOo
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Linguistic
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ba...@caesar.elte.hu

In English (USA) language, type the word "normally", and see right
click->Synonyms, in particular: "remarkably" and "unremarkably", which are
opposites.

Checking thesaurus via right click->Synonyms->Thesaurus reveals that only
"unremarkably" is a synonym, "remarkably" is an antonym.
So the information is there, but antonyms aren't shown separately, they're
given as synonyms.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 97393] English Dictionaries update - 2016

2016-05-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=97393

The dictionary update based on the 2016.05.01 release has been submitted to
gerrit as https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/#/c/25348/
These were not updated:
-all the configuration files (xml, xcu),
 -hyph_en_GB/US: they're a bit newer in LO,
 -en_ZA: too many mutual differences.

This commit in response to bug 61660 is not yet integrated, Marco, please take
a look:
https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/dictionaries/commit/?id=7e4239060266bf238b5e6692ed10d548c37572d5

Since the extension has monthly updates (GB dictionary is updated monthly, the
less are less frequently), if this works out, I'm planning to submit an update
once more during 5.2 RC phase.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99956] In formulas with circular references are not always showed the Error 522 with all calc functions. (Deactivated Iterations option)

2016-05-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99956

Sorry, I don't understand how your example applies to what I'm doing.

Have you looked at the video I uploaded? It clearly shows the behaviour that I
described in my other comments in this topic.

I created four different named ranges, where the first one is a range of values
over multiple rows, which needs to grow when new lines are inserted anywhere in
it's range. The other named ranges use the first one to calculate a value and
need to move as new lines are added to or deleted from the first range.

I then position the active cell somewhere in the spreadsheet, but I do not
insert any lines nor do I delete any rows. Next I open the range manager to
look at the defined named ranges and I often find that the defined ranges have
changed to different cell ranges that have no relationship with the data my
calculations are supposed to work on.

How can this be useful. It invalidates the calculations based on the named
ranges and the results are wrong. To me the proof that something is wrong is
that if I do the same thing using explicit relative cell references they don't
randomly change. Also, this doesn't happen when I use Excel.

Thank you,
Howard Brown

document having varying number of pages while loading (in writer)

I will explain why this is a proble: If the document keeps loading, people like
me (who use UNO API) will think of ways to try and find when it has completed
loading. The problem is, the ways for finding that out are mostly
waiting-loops, and thus are not exactly reliable. The API should send some
event or have an easy way to wait until the document is fully loaded.

And I'm even attaching a docx file so you can see what I mean.
For some reason, this document has a varying number of pages until it loads
completely. First it has 90, then 91 then 92, then it decreases fast back to
55.
That document does indeed have 55 pages, but it would be better if one could
know exactly how many pages it has from the API.

I hope this can be improved.

You have the explanation in commen#9, I try to explain again.

New spreadsheet
Go to B10
Create a new named range relative to 'A1'
Go to B12
Go to edit named ranges
Now the reference is 'A3', what it's right, two cells bellow the cell where you
were when the named range was created.
Go to C10
Go to edit named ranges
Now the reference is 'B1', right again, one cell to the right of cell where you
were when the named range was created.

This means that relative references in named ranges are always relatives to the
cell 'where you are' when the named range is created.

So it's needed to be cautious on how to use relative address in named ranges,
they are specially useful to create named formulas, that you can use in
different places.

Please again, let the status as NEW.

My concern is mostly on the consistency and expecations side.
Because if this was mentioned in the documentation, I'd be like, I'm ok with
that
because I read it was a problem and I should take care of it, but I didn't find
it in the docs.
On the other hand, I feel like this is a sane default to have, maybe ? not
sure.
I mean, refreshing the document by default would incur some additional
processing. Maybe the workload generated by that would be too high?

Created attachment 125237

attached a document with footnotes (it can be used to reproduce the problem)

So, if a document is not refreshed(via the usual way with XRefreshable, I'm
specifically talking about the Writer application, because that's where
this situation was found), two things happen:
a) The page numbers reported by XPageCursor are off(confirmed on both 5.1.2.2
and 4.2.8.2)
b) The footnotes are not loaded at all (confirmed on 4.2.8.2). In effect, on a
XSearchable search they do not show up in the results, but if the document is
refreshed prior to doing the search, they show up just fine.

My suggestion is that either this should be specifically mentioned in the
documentation and reflected in the UNO API examples or it should not be
required for a user to refresh the document, and it should happen implicitly as
part of the UNO API default behaviour.

I view this as the intuitive way of solving this problem.
I look forward to your thoughts on this.
Thank you for taking the time to read the bug report

Yes, I agree. While the patch solves the crash, the bug that caused two

Oh, the relative range I describe would also change if new lines were added
before the range, too, but the beginning row would be fixed at $B$24, I believe
that only the range's end would move down. However, in my spreadsheet lines
would only be added between the beginning and end of the range, so having the
range expand is exactly what I'm looking for. The issue is that Calce is
changing the named range even though I'm not adding new rows and often the
range reported in the range manager appears to be wrong, as is the case where
the ROWS function with the parameter $B$24:$B35 having a result other than 10.
Sometimes it's less than 10 and others it's greater than 10, but the range
still shows $B$24:$B35. Other times the range shows an entirely different
range, but in all cases I didn't add or remove any lines in or above the named
range area of the spreadsheet that I created the named range with.

> What you comment as fixed references are denominated as absolute reference
> and not fixed are relative references.

Thank you, I wasn't sure what to call the types of cell references that I was
using, so I used a descriptive term in quotes to try to make the actions as
clear as I could. By the way, when you use a $ before the column, but not
before the row, is that still a relative reference or is it called something
else?

Anyway, as I understand it a relative reference range like I'm using, i.e.,
$B$24:$B33 should remain unchanged unless I insert new rows between rows 24 and
33, but this isn't happening, as demonstrated in the video I uploaded.

I misunderstood what was causing the Err:522 errors when I first reported it,
thinking that the problem had to do with the named range begins used in the
numerator of the percent completion formula and the spreadsheet conversion to
the excel .xls format, but as I worked with the problem further, I found that
other formulas were 'outputting' Err:522 messages, and that the spreadsheet
could be saved as native .ods files or not even safed.

> Why do you have changed the status?

My mistake, I thought I was supposed to do that. Mainly, I was trying to
respond to the assertion that the problem I was reporting was cause by my
creating the named range with circular references, but that's just a symptom of
the real problem, which is that Calc was incorrectly and randomly changing the
named ranges I created using relative cell references, and sometimes the
results are circular references.

While I didn't at first know the actual cause of the problem and I didn't use
the right terms in my description of the problem, the issue is has been the
same all along. I'm not reporting new problems, only a more complete
description of what is happening and I think it is a pretty big issue for Calc
when you can't trust that a named range won't be corrupted, so I reported it.

Thank you,
Howard Brown

However, using my work account which is 2FA, I still can't log in with the PIN.

The work account is a Google Apps for Business account, would that make any
difference? Are you testing with a personal account or a Google Apps for

(I don't want to post details of the work account publicly, but email me

What you comment as fixed references are denominated as absolute reference and
not fixed are relative references.

Creating a new named range with a relative reference, means it's a relative
reference in relation with the cell where you are when the named range is
created.

If you are in C10 and create a new named range relative to A1, when you copy
C10 to C11 the named range reference to A2 in C11.

Please, why do you have changed the status?, if you find a new bug, do a new
report. Otherwise it's only noise, that's make difficult getting a dev taking
it.

Would also add that the 4.2 branch went EOL January 6th 2015--meaning
development had ended with release of 4.2.8.2 in December 2014.

Subsequently the 4.3, 4.4, 5.0, 5.1 and the pending 5.2 releases have all have
substantial changes. Your issue may have been addressed already.

So, to have any relevancy to this issue *you* will need to verify an issue
remains in current development builds--and restate in that context.

Thanks.

  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

Created attachment 125236

Demo of the bug and mathematical considerations

Under specific circumstances format codes like "# ?/" result in wrongly
displayed values even where the exact and correct result should be inside the
range of applicability.

I experienced this by accident with LibO V 5.0.2.2 (x64) release under Win 10,
UI=English(UK), locale=German(Germany). Changing the locale to English(UK) did
not change the behaviour.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a new Calc document.
2. Set the 'Numbers' format code for column A to "# ?/" or "#?/"
3. Enter 2/2016 into A1, 1/2016 into A2 and 1/1008 into A3.
4. Verify the values being displayed as 10/, 5/, and 10/
respectively.
5. Enter 22/2016 into A4 and verify it being displayeed as 11/1009.

The display is wrong in every case. The correct formatting should show:
In case of 3. 1/1008, 1/2016, and 1/1008 respectively.
In case of 5. 11/1008.

These examples, a series of additional examples, and some exemplified
mathematical considerations are contained in the attached file.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99990] display a warning when there is a tip for reducing the size of an image

At work, my team is writing ODT documents with many pictures. Those documents
reach 40 MB of size although they could fit below 5 MB if the resolution of the
picture would stay below 300 DPI.

We keep the ODT files on our file server which is backuped (~50 backups spread
in daily, weekly and monthly backups). Moreover, our organization has a 5 MB
limit for the size of the emails (in a few cases we are working with other
persons exchanging ODT files by emails in order to allow modifications).

I don't think the user would be annoyed if the warning is light (the design of
the visual interaction has to be clear and simple). Moreover, there is quite no
drawback if the user could disable it.

Thanks for the bug report and the analysis, Sam.
Reproduced in current versions, and in 4.4.0.3, not reproduced in 4.3.0.4, so
it's a regression.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99995] New: Paragraphs with Font Effects>Hidden flag cannot be included in PDF or Print Preview

2016-05-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5

Bug ID: 5
Summary: Paragraphs with Font Effects>Hidden flag cannot be
included in PDF or Print Preview
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: Inherited From OOo
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: notinterest...@gmx.com

Created attachment 125235
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=125235=edit
Test file to demonstrate Hidden Text that cannot be exported to PDF or Print
Previewed

Paragraph styles have a "Hidden" option under their "Font Effects" tab. There
are setting that allow these paragraphs to be displayed on-screen or printed.
However, there is no way to include these paragraphs in PDF generated via "File
> Export as PDF ...". They also never appear in print previews.

To display Hidden paragraphs on-screen, View>Nonprinting characters must be set
to ON, AND Preferences>LibreOffice Writer>Formatting Aids>Hidden Text must be
ON.

To print Hidden paragraphs to the printer, the "Hidden Text" selection in the
print dialogue box must be ON. The default value of this selection is set via
Preferences>LibreOffice Writer>Print>Hidden Text. The value of View>Nonprinting
characters is immaterial to printing Hidden Paragraphs.

However, there appears to be no setting that causes Hidden Text to be included
in PDF output, or in the preview displayed by File>Page Preview.

The attached test file can be used to demonstrate this, and has been tested
under these versions:

LO 3.3.0.6 under Linux Mint 17.1 xfce
LO 4.0.0.3 under Linux Mint 17.1 xfce
LO 4.0.6.2 under MacOS 10.5.8
LO 4.2.8.2 under Linux Mint 17.1 xfce
LO 5.1.3.2 under Linux Mint 17.1.xfce
LO 5.2.0.0alpa1 under Linux Mint 17.1 xfce

This behaviour seems to have been inherited from OpenOffice - see this
2010-vintage Open Office forum discussion:

https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7=30663

IMO, there are two (interrelated?) serious bugs here:

1. It should be possible to switch on inclusion of paragraphs with the Hidden
flag set in PDF generated with the "Export as PDF ..." command.

2. If paragraphs with the Hidden flag set would by default be printed (i.e. the
Preferences>LibreOffice Writer>Print>Hidden Text flag is on), then the preview
displayed with File>Page Preview should show it.

IMO there are also two related minor bugs:

3. It would be better if display of hidden text were made independent of the
View>Nonprinting characters setting. Surely display of non-printing characters
(such as Paragraph marks) is orthogonal to displaying Hidden Text?

4. It would be better if the "View>Hidden Paragraphs" option controlled the
display of Paragraph styles whose Hidden option is set. Under the Principle of
Least Surprise, any reasonable person would refer to a Paragraph style with the
Hidden flag set as a "Hidden Paragraph", and therefore expect the "View>Hidden
Paragraphs" option to control its display.

Let me first confirm that your post is not so polite.
Apart from that, can you please be more precise in where you set the language,

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99994] Crash on insert SVG file svgio::svgreader::SvgCharacterNode::createSimpleTextPrimitive

2016-05-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4

The bug occurs in SvgCharacterNode::createSimpleTextPrimitive() in the section:

OUString aFontFamily = rSvgStyleAttributes.getFontFamily().empty() ?
OUString("Times New Roman") :
rSvgStyleAttributes.getFontFamily()[0];

The second clause gets called, and tries to access the zeroth element of an
empty vector. The "empty()" test is not effective at preventing this as
getFontFamily() returns a different vector on the second call. (Fun Heisenbug
as putting "cout << rSvgStyleAttributes.getFontFamily().size()" or similar
above changes the behaviour.)

The problem is that getFontFamily() can call
SvgStyleAttributes::setCssStyleParent() and so the style can be changed.

The simple fix is to just reuse the result from the first call to
getFontFamily(). That way the test is effective and preventing the invalid
access.

I guess proper fix is to make getFontFamily() deterministic. I have not yet
quite understood the code well enough to understand how. Perhaps it needs to be
made so that that all the style resolution that can call the the 'set' methods
occurs before createSimpleTextPrimitive() gets called.

On inserting the attached svg file Libreoffice crashes. Happens with 5.0, 5.1
and 5.2dev (not test with any earlier versions). Happens in impress and writer.

The original SVG came from matplotlib, with edits in inkscape. I cut it down to
something fairly minimal.

Steps:
1) New impress or writer document
2) Drag test.svg into the page
3) Crash

The dialog "Manage names" is pretty unusable with this size.
I need to always resize the dialog, then resize each column and do this again
each time I use it.
Can the size be remebered ?

I'd add +1 case ...

  4. one user should be able to change his notes' color per DATE too...
by creating a NEW editing session, for example...
to which s/he could link a new color... and also, edit this color
later, too...
this means, that the "user" (author) should be able create author1-sess1,
author1-sess2, etc..

I think, it's important to

#1 link one color to one user...
#2 and that even this user could have different colors for different
sessions...

(I mean, you start working in August on a document... your notes: COLOR #1
you then get to the next stage.. say in September...
the same document.. but it's already more developed... then you set your
notes'c color to COLOR #2..

when you open a collaborative or editorial debate about it, say in October, you
would like to keep your original notes, too... but also to make new ones..
then you'd like to use: COLOR #3 ...
for the same user :)

   Version: 5.2.0.0.alpha1
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal

Pic01: dialog Admin range names

When changing the the size of a dialog in calc - here special administration
dialog of named ranges - the dialog will forget the actual size when aktivating
additional options - and will be resized to a very small dialog.

Steps to reproduce:

- open a new calc-document
- create min one named cell/range (insert -> named ranges -> add)

Then open the administration Dialog (insert -> named ranges -> manage??) - see
pic01 - Admin_names01.png

change size of the dialog (make it wider, resize table) - see Pic02 -
resize_dialog.png

Now clic on the options (Range Options) to expand the information... dialog
will automatic resized to a very small dialog...- see pic03 - back_to_roots.png

This is a behavior not exspected from a user.

Correct behavior: dialog will stay in it size!

Hi Buovjaga, the attached document has actually no formulas stored. But having
such document does not mean to "reproduce" the bug. The problem is to reproduce
an environment, which results in not storing the formulas.

Hi Ben, another candidate are the comments. Do you see the same problem in
documents without any comment?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99956] In formulas with circular references are not always showed the Error 522 with all calc functions. (Deactivated Iterations option)

2016-05-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99956

The comment I entered with the last version of the spreadsheet was lost. Here
it is again.

The circular reference was created by Calc, not me. I entered the correct cell
references in the ranges I created, but then Calc changed them apparently
randomly. I know this because after I saw that the calculations weren't
working properly, I opened the range manager and saw that the named ranges
would often have the wrong cell references. This problem is not associated
with saving the spreadsheet as in the .xls format. It happens in the native
.ods format, too. Actually, the spreadsheet doesn't even need to be saved at
all, this problem often occurs just by clicking on different cells in the sheet
and then opening the range manager.

What I do know is using 'fixed' cell references, i.e., $B$24 and $B$24:$B$33
works properly, but changing the cell references to 'non-fixed' cell
references, i.e., B24, $B24, and $B$24:$B33, so that new data can be
automatically accommodated by the formulas without needing to edit the cell
ranges, causes Calc to change the cell ranges, even if no new rows are added
above the calculations using the named ranges.

Hi,
The auto save function is on, every 10 minutes. I don't see a correlation
between saving and the formulas disappearing. I save it manually every 5
minutes or so.
I tried increasing the cache to 500MB, the problem still occurs.
Anything else I can try? (I'm also turning off the auto save just to be sure,

Hope that option could be turned off. Already seems annoying to me.

IIUC we already reduce the PPI when exporting to PDF (default 300), and the OS
provided print engines will reduce the resolution to what is needed for
printing of the document as render to meta on the canvas.

But the actual image is held unchanged in the ODF archive.

So suggestion is just for a user "nag" that an inserted (e.g. not linked) image
that will be contained in the archive has a PPI resolution beyond a settable
threshold.

Seems feasible, but not clear there is that much value to the enhancement.

Let us imagine a new user property which defines a resolution limit for images
in all printable documents (Writer, Calc, Impress, Draw).

If an image has a resolution which is over the user defined limit then a
warning would appear beside the image (or over the image with transparency).
When the mouse pointer would be over the warning, the relevant message could be
displayed.

Example of relevant messages :

Generated in Excel 2010, saved in old xsl format

I think it is an error in the import filter of xsl.

If I set the fill explicitly to "no fill" or to "color"&"transparency100%", in
both cases the chart gets a blue background. You can test it with the attached
file.

I have tested a chart generated with a current LO52 too, again with the
settings "no fill" and the setting "color and transparency 100%", and saved in
xsl format. Same behavior; opening the file in Excel 2010, the background is
transparent in both cases; opening in LibreOffice the background is blue in
both cases.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99989] New: The smart quote marks in AutoCorrect Works either for RTL or LTR languages but not both

2016-05-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99989

Bug ID: 99989
Summary: The smart quote marks in AutoCorrect Works either for
RTL or LTR languages but not both
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.3.2 rc
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: eladh...@gmail.com

Created attachment 125224
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=125224=edit
Smart quote marks in Hebrew and English

When tools>autocorrect>autocorrect options>localized options>single quotes
replace is turned on (which it is by default in this version) the smart quote
marks work fine in English (pointing inwards to the word), but in Hebrew, a
Right-To-Left language, the smart quote marks point *outwards* from the word.

If you manually change the symbols of the quote marks in
tools>autocorrect>autocorrect options>localized options>single quotes, they
will work in Hebrew (point inwards) but be wrong in English (point outwards).

It seems there is no way to tell Libreoffice Writer to use a different set of
symbols for different languages.

This bug seems to be related, but is not identical to this bug:
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=88270

In attached file you can see how the bug looks.

on opening a docx file Writer freezes and memory consumption increases

It seems that there's an internal bug that shows up when opening this file
big-report.docx file.
For this file, LibreOffice's(4.2.8.2 Build ID: 420m0 Build:2)
UI freezes and there's no way even manually to browse the document, and memory
consumption increases at a rate of 15 MB/s (as reported by htop).
This is most likely a memory leak.
I have attached the file to this bug report.
I was not able to reproduce the problem on 5.1.2.2 (the LO version that comes
with Ubuntu 16.04 Build ID: 1:5.1.2-0ubuntu1).

When I create a rectangle in Draw, fill it with a gradient from black to white,
export to pdf and reopen the pdf, the object is rasterized (same as for svg in
tdf#64464). Looking into the raw pdf file there is nothing obviously wrong.

I'm not saying the export filter has no bugs, but do we really need two
tickets? Having a large list to go through might be discouraging. Anyway, feel
free to reactivate the duplicate if you think it's necessary (in this case set
blocks 99746 and see as well 44731 please).

Nobody gave a number of a version in which it worked. So removing regression

Not sure if this behavior is a bug or is by design. If we had a version in

Bug ID: 99987
Summary: CRASH connecting mySQL-database with native connectors
(kUBUNTU 16.04)
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.2.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Base
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: noz...@web.de

Trying to connect a mySQL database to LibreOffice BASE with the native
connector, two approaches failed:

1. Connector for "Versions > 4.1, Extension for Linux" from
http://extensions.libreoffice.org/extension-center/mysql-native-connector;.
Latest while opening the database the second time, an error message "Unable to
load the libmysqlcppconn.so library / SQL-Status 08001" is shown.
The file "libmysqlcppconn.so.7.1.1.7" is existing on my computer in /usr/lib/.

2. As an alternative, I installed the "mySQL-Connector extension for
LibreOffice" libreoffice-mysql-connector 1.0.2+LibO5.1.2-0u as shown in the
repository.
This results into a complete crash of LibreOffice while connecting.

It's possible to connect the same mySQL / BASE - system using the
JDBC-connector.
