[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 96342] LibreOffice crashed if I try to delete specific cell content every time

2016-05-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96342

Selecting C19:J14, pressing Delete in LibreOffice 5.1.3.2. under Ubuntu 16.04
(both LibeOffice and Ubuntu are fresh installed from 24th April) with HARDWARE
ACCELERATION ENABLED will cause LibreOffice to crash.

With HARDWARE ACCELRATION DISABLED it hangs out and you need to close it.

No i dont think we should, though i believe i've seen some non-8x8 patterns
used in other apps as fill patterns, but those were non-modifiable ones.

Patterns in general wont be highly used, as people prefer gradients and bitmaps
to fill with, but the their set of patterns are quite nice and usable.

Here is how its shown in MSO.

Govt. of India has made minor changes to name of State and Language. This is
old news and needs corrections in all The Document Foundation software products
where this language is referred to. This is with reference to Oriya language.
The changed name of "Oriya" language is "Odia". Also, corresponding platforms
needs to change this. For instance Pootle currently refers to it as "Oriya".

I think Frederick's issue wasn't that he personally couldn't get around the
URL-ification, but that if someone wants to do that, they'll be at a loss how
to do it, as he was initially.
URL being uneditable is a known bug, and is reported in bug 75889.

1. "What's This?" not offering any help is a bug in my opinion.

2. Other ways of getting relevant help: while "at" is a very generic term,
"link" or "hyperlink" should return something relevant in the help (hovering
over the "URL" displays a tooltip that it's treated as a link).

Some weird behaviors:

3. If the text is typed with a space after the comma after the link (so: "40V,
200mA, h=100@1V, 10mA"), weirdly, right-clicking the text in the Input line
above the sheet permanently removes the URL (sometimes this can be reproduced
if there's no space there, but it's not that consistent).

4. Sometimes the link is displayed as a link in the Input line (if it's typed
in there, for example), but if you move between cells and come back, it will
show as normal text (still in Input line). Particularly if you move with
cursors, it'll stay as a link, if you select the cell with mouse, it'll be
normal text.

5. When it's not displayed as a link in the Input line, and part of the
text/link is selected, the selection shown in the cell won't be the same.

6. Using autocomplete to finish the entry based on a previous one does not
create links.

All observed in LO 5.1.3.2 / Windows 7.
These are a lot of items for a single bug report, but I didn't want to open
several reports, yet, plus I think 1-2 and 3-6 are closely related.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 100040] New: Draw on the Presenter Console.

2016-05-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 100040
Summary: Draw on the Presenter Console.

  Hardware: All

The pen drawing doesn't show until pressing page up and page down keys.

What I want to do is to draw on the presenter Console (screen #1) and have my
drawing input show up on the main presentation screen (screen #2).

Using the current version (5.0.5.2),

1. I can change the cursor to pen using the slide show menu -> slide show
settings.

2. Now, cursor changes to the pen without any problem.

3. I can draw on the presenter console (Screen #1), but the drawn lines appear
only after pressing pgup and pgdown keys once.

3. The screen #2 behaves the same way. I can draw, but the drawings appear only
after page up/down.

So, it seems that this functionality is already there, but somebody missed
calling the redraw() function (or something similar) on mouse-move events.

Version 5.0.6.3 (x64)

I normally have the spreadsheet saving to a Dropbox directory, but even without
that, the program is still crashing.

The text on the screen corrupts, and Windows closes it.

Upon reopening, it cycles through a recovery process, pretty much reverting to
the saved copy.

I had a problem like this before, but had changed to the Still distribution,
from Fresh and that worked... for a while.

I noticed that I was running the 32bit version, and changed to 64bit, no diff.

I have seven tabs of checkbook info on this spread sheet. They refer to each
other for calculations.

Believe this is a simple mistagging issue with the original WordNet 2.1
definitions file, th_en_US_new.dat from 2005, used for the HunSpell projects
thesaurus MyThes--so not really a bug, just incorrectly formatted data.

We then tweak that listing a bit and end up with:
https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/dictionaries/tree/en/th_en_US_v2.dat

In a LibreOffice Writer session , if you look at "normal" rather than
"normally", where the entries are correctly tagged, you'll see what is supposed
to be shown. Antonyms are not displayed on the context menu. And shifting into
the Thesaurus with +F7 you'll see the full record including the type
annotation.

As to adding a separate LibreOffice context menu for antonyms--I don't think
that would be of much value as there are just too few formally defined to make
it worth while.

I believe coverage in WordNet 3/3.1 is better, but looks like the data format
changed quite a bit so the processing scripts (Daniel N.'s wn2ooo) used for
MyThes would have to be refactored. Also, don't know if the licensing allows
needed MPL redistribution for use with HunSpell or Language Tools project(s).

Bug ID: 100038
Summary: special at sign(@) treatment is frustrating for new
users and impossible to google
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.3.2 rc
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: frede...@ofb.net

Hello,

I've been using LibreOffice for about an hour now. I'm just trying to enter
some data in Calc. I was able to Google some useful keyboard shortcuts and
things are pretty cool. I figured out how to move rows around and stuff.

However, when I enter "@" in a field, like "40V, 200mA, h=100@1V,10mA" then
Calc goes nutty. It won't let me edit the word containing the "@", I see a gray
rectangle containing the text "h=100@1V,10mA". I click on it and it selects the
whole thing, I use the arrows and it skips over the rectangle. Sometimes after
clicking around on other cells or something, then I can get Calc to let me edit
the text in question, but then it seems kind of buggy - it forgets my edits, or
when I edit the text after the rectangle, it comes out garbled.

Maybe I've entered something atypical but it's weird that I would start using a
piece of software and get stuck so quickly.

No help from Google "libreoffice calc at sign".

No help from F1 (searched for @ and "at").

No help from "Help > What's this?" and clicking on gray rectangle.

I just want your software to stop trying to be so smart!

I finally got help from user "Marqeaux" on IRC, but ... Can you think of some
ways to remove this stumbling block for future new users?

Thank you,

Frederick Eaton

2016-05-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9

To be precise, the bug is that synonyms show antonyms as well, showing antonyms
separately would be an enhancement.

Technically a solution would be to rid the thesaurus of antonyms, but that is
far from elegant. If there's a fix, other languages need to be considered as
well, I don't know how antonyms are listed in other thesauri.

On pc Debian x86-64 with master sources updated today, I could open the file
without crash or hang.
I just noticed these:
warn:sc.core:17083:1:sc/source/core/data/bcaslot.cxx:1139:
ScBroadcastAreaSlotMachine::BulkBroadcastGroupAreas - pArea has no listeners
and should had been removed already

However with LO Debian package 5.1.3.2, I had a crash (not a hang).

(there's no package libreoffice-dbg on Debian testing, that's why there's no
symbol)

No crash for me.

It seems you have a problem that is specific to your system and it is in any
case different from this bug. Please try
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile#Resolving_corruption_in_the_user_profile

So I am not of the opinion that this is confirmed on OS X.

Yeah, I'm with Simon with this. The gtk integration should just do what the
theme does and not fight against it. Ideally we wouldn't even have to "follow
the theme" if we were fully native, and its likely we'll go more down the road
of using true native widgetry, e.g. right now the gtk3 menus and menubar for
example are "true" native menubars and their behaviour is mostly out of our
control now.

2016-05-24 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=100036

Bug ID: 100036
Summary: Phantom rows appear only when exporting to PDF (not
when printing or editing)
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.3.2 rc
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: jim.av...@gmail.com

Created attachment 125262
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=125262&action=edit
Spreadsheet with phantom rows visible only when exporting to PDF

This is wierd. The attached spreadsheet has been edited down to have only two
pages of content. I did select-all,Format->Row->Show to un-hide any hidden
rows, and similarly for columns. Only the expected two pages of content are
visible, and when printed that's only what is printed. Fine so far.

But exporting to PDF appends hundreds of rows of phantom content. It is
content which I thought I had deleted or replaced with new cell values.

Again, the phantom content is completely invisible when editing or printing.
It only appears when exporting to PDF.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

1. Load the attached phantomrows.ods
2. Print-preview; verity that only two pages appear
3. File->Export to PDF
4. Open the resulting PDF

RESULTS: Lots of mysterious junk after the expected rows

EXPECTED RESULTS: Export to PDF should produce the same as Print;
Also, deleted content should actually be deleted, and if any rows
are hidden they should be un-hidden by selecting the range and
   doing Format->Row->Show.

as it happens, i've converted this file 2 days before you wrote this comment,

...

actually now there are just 2 files left that use boost::bind,
and both of them are horrible boost::spirit line noise code
which nobody should touch anyway if they want to retain their sanity.

this stuff drives even the most experienced developers to despair,
as can be seen in https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/#/c/21969/3

Microsoft saves the pattern by name? And we spam our freshly baked dialog with
more than 50 ugly patterns just for maximizing compatibility? So my suggestion
is to use <20 of them.

Of course using a bitmap is always possible and would be more than a
workaround. But the question is whether we want to have larger patterns. Other
opinions?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99326] Ability to disable GTK+ auto-accelerator

In your opinion. It is the solution which is used in GTK - you may not
personally like it, but as I have now stated repeatedly, it is how GTK works;
it is how every other application written on a native version of GTK works.

If LO natively supported GTK, we wouldn't even be having this discussion - this
would be how LO worked, and that would be it - auto-accelerator behaviour would
follow theme, full stop.

Your argument is for a half-finished implementation of GTK emulation which
happens to fit your personal needs. It is not the right way to implement GTK
emulation for anyone who is used to using a GTK environment and using other GTK
applications within it, which is why it was reported as a bug in LO over 4
years ago - see https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54169 for
details.

Reverting this behaviour would be to cause a regression on this bug.

Summary: Impossible to persistently remove print-range

   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.3.2 rc
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: jim.av...@gmail.com

Created attachment 125261
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=125261&action=edit
Demo file used to reproduce - see original bug report

If certain print ranges are defined in a spreadsheet, it is impossible to
persistently clear them so that after a save & reload, the entire spreadhseet
is visible when printed.

Format->Print Ranges->Clear works momentarily, but after saving and reloading,
the supposedly-erased print range restrictions are resurrected.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

1. Open the attached test.xlsx
2. Format->Print Ranges->Clear
3. Print-Preview or Format->Print Ranges->Edit
to verify that there are not print-range restrictions

4. Save, then Reload
5. Repeat step #3

RESULTS: Some columns are hidden when printing

EXPECTED RESULTS: Print ranges should no longer exist

(May be related to bug 50122, but AFAIK this document does not use external
links; although I got it from someone else so I'm not certain)

I have a tool that takes template odt files and does a mail merge of sorts,
replacing placeholders and copying the original content as needed. When the
template contains an embedded image, this results in several frames with the
same name. Only the first 2 are shown, the rest are not shown.

If the file is then saved, they are removed.

Attached is a simplified file, with 4 frames with the same name
(draw:name="Image1").

Documents of this type previously opened in 4.4 with all frames visible.

Affects at least Linux (Ubuntu, Build ID: 1:5.1.3~rc2-0ubuntu1~trusty1),

The regression is in how the checkbox is being handled so that is what the bug
is about. Yes with the new version of the fill dialog, this likely will be

I would say no that we shouldnt be improving on hatching, but if you wanted to
extend the bitmap pattern option to support patterns beyond 8 x 8 pixels that
might be doable, but see problems in how to display these larger clickable
matrix and think leaving it for users to create the pattern as a bitmap and
using the bitmap fill.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 99326] Ability to disable GTK+ auto-accelerator

> OS-level property.

Yousuf, you are looking at this issue solely as a LO user. You are not looking
at it as a user of a GTK environment. As I have asked above, what is the
purpose of GTK compatibility in LO unless to make LO match look and feel of the
other applications in a GTK environment in which it is being used? I cannot
think of one.

Your point seems to assume that someone is using LO as the only GTK application
on their system - as otherwise surely they would notice that they have the
auto-accelerator feature in all their other applications? And if someone did
notice that they had auto-accelerators enabled in multiple applications and
wanted to turn it off, by your argument, every GTK application would need to
individually offer them that as an option - as I have said before, that is not
how GTK applications work.

> Users pick a theme based on what it looks like and not on
> the value of the auto-accelerator property, so to say that users wouldnt

> feature in a easy way and can imagine what a novice user will go through.

You are trying to dissociate a GTK theme behaviour (auto-accelerators) from GTK
theme appearance, but the two are intrinsically linked; that's what a theme is
for. If a user picks a theme with auto-accelerators, they will get
auto-accelerator behaviour in all GTK applications.

> Some gtk+2 desktop environments (e.g. Xfce, Mate) provide users with the
> ability to tweak their theme in a GUI interface, like being able to modify

> through hoops.

But what does it benefit a user to have a way to disable the feature in one
single application? If they don't like it, they will surely want to disable it
in all applications - providing a means to ignore theme in LO will only make
them look for a similar mechanism in other applications, and they won't find
one - because it shouldn't be set in applications.

Your point about some environments not allowing this parameter to be changed in
their user-friendly theme editors is not an argument for adding an override to
LO; it is an argument for adding the ability to globally set the parameter to
the theme editors.

> The point I was attempting to get across is that we dont have to adhere to
> every GTK+2 property if we believe it has a negative affect to our users

This was a bug in LO's GTK emulation which has been fixed - that's why we
didn't adhere to it since LO's establishment; LO was doing the wrong thing
before this fix. LO is now doing the right thing. The argument that we have
been doing the wrong thing for so long that we should never fix it is not a
valid one. We should absolutely attempt to adhere to every GTK property if we
are offering GTK compatibility - as otherwise, what's the point in offering it?

Think this is a WONTFIX

I doubt such files are used anywhere and I don't see how we could fix this.
One can import them in any LO document in reasonable time (considering the
humongous file sizes and pixel representation).

For editing in draw every circle element gets a node object.
For the first file that's 79*119 nodes. (It's Over 9000!!!)
The second file has 757.350 circles/pixels. I doubt there is any editor out
there who can handle this. These files are clearly not made for editing in svg
format.

Changing text case is a basic function, so Benjamin will definitely want to use

Not really a short-term dodge when it has been LO's behaviour since its
establishment. The point is to be conservative with this change (limit it to be
enabled only in gtk3) until it is fully matured.

> Novice users do not change this setting; theme authors do. All a novice user
> does is to choose a theme. Theme authors do know where to find this setting,

When we move from an interface where we didnt support auto-accelerator to one
where we do, users will first assume that its either a bug (like i did in bug
97586, as well as others) or its a feature that has been implemented in LO,
rather than one that is being implemented based on a theme-level or OS-level
property. Users pick a theme based on what it looks like and not on the value
of the auto-accelerator property, so to say that users wouldnt want to change
this feature is inaccurate, as i'm unable to changing this feature in a easy
way and can imagine what a novice user will go through.

Some gtk+2 desktop environments (e.g. Xfce, Mate) provide users with the
ability to tweak their theme in a GUI interface, like being able to modify the
controls, icons, window borders, etc. They dont give the option to change the
accelerator property, so users who choose a theme which happens to have it
enabled dont have the ability to disable it there without jumping through
hoops.

> and all applications which use GTK+2 properly obey it - the argument that
> because some other applications are doing things incorrectly that it is
> therefore ok for LO to also do things incorrectly is not really sound
> reasoning.

The point I was attempting to get across is that we dont have to adhere to
every GTK+2 property if we believe it has a negative affect to our users user
experience. We havent been adhering to this property since LO's establishment,
so we dont have to adhere to it now just because.

Yes it is fine that we have the code that does this reading of the value, i am
saying that we should include an IF statement after the reading of this value
that if the user has left the option to show or hide auto-accelerator in the
options dialog to 'Automatic' (likely stored in registrymodifications.xcu as a
NULL value) and LO was built against gtk2 (built with the argument
--disable-gtk3) that auto-accelerator should be disable by default unless a
user/packager enables it. Below is an outline of how it would be written in
php:

auto_accelerator = value read from theme or OS;
auto_accelerator_options_level = value read from registrymodifications.xcu;

if ( auto_accelerator_options_level != NULL ) {
   auto_accelerator = auto_accelerator_options_level;
} else {
   if ( gtk2_build ) {
  auto_accelerator = 0;
   }
}

> If I get time in the next few weeks I will look at adding the ability to
> read this value from the theme and to use it to enable or disable auto-hide.

I assume as this gtk2 theming attribute hasnt been implemented yet that i'm
being affected by a gtk3 theme on my gtk2 desktop environment.

> Incidentally - you mention above the ability to compile LO against gtk2 - is
> that even possible?

The daily builds that TDF compiles are against gtk2 and i believe the ones
available on the libreoffice.org download page are also against gtk2.

As stated, "this is a major UX issue in not being able to disable this
feature". Meaning not being able to disable this incomplete feature at the
app

It would be nice if LibreOffice supported Office365 OneDrive for
Business/Sharepoint Online.

There is currently no OneDrive for Business client for Linux, but if
LibreOffice supported ODfB file access directly, it would help co-operation
with Microsoft Office users.

There is a REST API for Onedrive and Onedrive for Business:

Bug ID: 100030
Summary: LibreOffice Writer with AutoCorrection doesn't respect
character style
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.2.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: kruno...@gmx.com

When character style selected, inserting AutoCorrection text ignores selected
style and uses default every time.

1. Add new AutoCorrection text (e.g. :w: → word)
2. select character style (e.g. Teletype)
3. write :w:

Result:
Inserted text is not formated in Teletype.

Expected result:
Inserted AutoCorrection text should be formated in Teletype.

I could reproduce it with German UI (Version 5.1.2.2). If you mark unequal rows
and choose the first "Spalten gleichmäßig verteilen" you get equal rows. So the
option works, but it is named wrong and should be changed in "Zeilen
gleichmäßig verteilen".

Nothing is wrong but slow. Here is how duplication works with Balsamiq Mockups
https://youtu.be/ZOvs_GiEQl0
Although sometimes the LibO duplication dialog might be even faster it's a very
comfortable thing to just press ctrl+D and have both copy and paste.

I see the bug too in Version: 5.2.0.0.alpha1+

CPU Threads: 4; OS Version: Windows 6.1; UI Render: default;
Locale: de-DE (de_DE)

It crashes too, when you use Slide Properties > Background > Bitmap, select one
from the shown bitmaps > Yes/No > OK > Crash. It crashes too in Draw, but not
Writer and not in Calc.

? Ctrl+D does nothing here (LO5.2 on Windows ).
