This is not a simple UI tweak. This setting was not placed in the Sorting
dialog, because it’s application wide preference. In its current form it cannot
be toggled on or off like all the other options in the Sort dialog.  

It’s a big job to make a feature easier to enable that breaks compatibility
with old Calc spreadsheets and every other spreadsheet application. If you're a
programmer and want to hack on it, there's lots of useful information on the
wiki to help you get started on it.

LibreOffice is now opening completely. Able to open to StartCenter and also all
modules.

Unfortunately, the patch for curl on XP has not improved issues of bug 95184 or

Thank-you.  I showed it in my June 26 attachment for completeness.  Whether
everything is in one dialog/tab or in separate windows/tabs - do what works
best, what the majority of users want, what's simplest and most robust.  Be
consistent across all shapes.

In the longer term, I also am wanting a more general solution.  But I thought
it easier and wiser to do one shape first.  Once that is working well, the
others should be easier.  In the long term, I'm looking for:
* circular arcs created/edited by the user by entering in a GUI the center, the
radius, the start angle, and either the central angle or the end angle.
* elliptical arcs created/edited by the user by entering in a GUI the center,
the semi-major and semi-minor axes, the angle of rotation for the semi-major
axis, the start angle, and either the central angle or the end angle.
* circles created/edited by the user by entering in a GUI the center and the
radius.
* ellipses created/edited by the user by entering in a GUI the center, the
semi-major and semi-minor axes, and the angle of rotation for the semi-major
axis.
* rectangles created/edited by the user by entering in a GUI the center, the
length, the width, and the angle of rotation.
* squares created/edited by the user by entering the center, the length of a
side, and the angle of rotation.
* regular polygons created/edited by the user by entering the center, the
number of sides (or vertices), the distance from the center to either a vertex
or the mid-point of a side, and the angle of rotation.  (A square could be a
special case of this.)
* stars created/edited by the user by entering the center, the number of
points, the distance from the center to an inner point, the distance from the
center to an outer point, and the angle of rotation.
Other shapes can be done appropriately.  The behavior I'm wanting is that when
I want to create a new instance of a shape, I click the shape in the window
area to the left of the document and its ruler, the GUI for me to enter the
appropriate numbers would by default pop up.  I would not do any clicking or
dragging in the document.  Likewise, to edit an instance of a shape, I click
that shape in the document, and then use the right mouse button to bring up the
floating menu, and from there select the GUI for editing the shape instance. 
Again, I would not do any dragging in the document.  I should be able to change
a preference value to choose between number entry and clicking/dragging to
create/edit shape instances.

Thank-you for the attachment.  I'll give it a try, but I've never tried using
macros before, so this will take some time.

written.

Screen shots of conditional formatting edit dialogs

Upon copying/pasting within a range, some conditional formatting ranges get
corrupt, and can no longer be changed.

Bug - pages (attachment) & comments
1) Original "clean" file - see ranges C10:190, D10:D190 and E10:F190
2) Modified file (copy/paste whole lines only)
--> range C10:C190 is still clean, but D & E-F are now corrupt
3) Try to correct for D - open dialog
4) …enter correct range D10:D190 & click OK
5) …and change unsuccessful - range stays the same at D78:D190, D10:D73

Workaround:
6) Copy/paste line from original clean file: entries for C74, D74 & E74:F74
7) Changed C74 to C10:C190, then deleted original C75:C190,C10:C73 -> OK!
8) Now deleted bad ranges D78:D190,D10:D73 and E78F190,E10:F73
-> reveals other little bug: they come back if main dialog not closed now
9) Now edit D74
10) …to D10:D190 & click OK
11) Change successful
 --> now other little bug: the previously-deleted ranges come back
   (as the main dialog was not closed before editing D74)
12) Delete bad range D78:D190,D10:D73 (will come back, as main dialog not
closed)
13) Edit E74:F74
14) …to E10:F190 & click OK
15) Change successful, but bad range D78:D190,D10:D73 comes back, as before
16) So delete bad ranges & close main dialog; reopen: now everything OK

Includes Basic library with Language files

Open attached file. It contains a macro library with macros to set the handles
of a 'block arc' shape or a 'circular arrow' shape numerically in a dialog.
This dialog has localized strings for English(USA) and German. If you call the
macros with LO in a German UI you get German strings in the dialog, if you call
the macros with LO in an English UI you get English strings in the dialog.

To test it, draw a block arc and while it is selected call the macro
"EditBlockArc" from module 'Arc' in the library 'BlockArrowEditor'.

Now export the library either as Basic or as extension. When you import this
exported library to some other file or in your 'My Macros' folder and then call
the macros again, you will notice, that the dialog has no strings, but the
references.

If you look into the exported library, you will notice, that the files
'DialogStrings_de_DE.properties' , 'DialogStrings_en_US.default' and
'DialogStrings_en_US.properties' are missing. If you extract these file from
the source document and copy them over to the target "BlockArrowEditor"-folder,
then the dialog will show localized strings as it should.

To test, that the import is broken too, copy the files manually into the
exported library and then import the library to your target.

Export and Import is done with the Macro Organizer.

Tomaž's commit(s) seems to have resolved the issue. No crash while performing
preview of Symbol font in any of the noted STR.  Also, bug 100747 crash on
insert of PDF containing strings in Symbol font also resolved.

Symbol in the sample PDF comes up cleanly.

This should be a checkbox in the Options tab of the Sort dialog, not a
system-wide preference.

I tried opening with latest version (5.1.4.2 in Windows 7), and the document
opened fine.
If for some reason it doesn't work with "Open with" function (it did for me),
try running Writer first, and opening the document from there.

Closing this as WORKSFORME, if the steps described above don't help, give
further details, and change status back to UNCONFIRMED.

Screenshot of the navigator and the formula editor.

In Writer, I ususally have the navigator (F5) open and docked on the left side
of the window.
When I enter a mathematical formula (with Insert / Object / Formula) the
Formula Elements are also visible in the same place. 
You can't access them, because both layers (the Navigator and the Formula
Elements) are on top of each other, and they "compete" each other. 
If you "undock" the formula Elements, the Navigator vanishes. But it should
already vanish, if you want enter the formula area.

Also on the right side, there is some shadow from the Properties window.
This worked well in the last version (5.0.6) and seems to be a new bug since
5.1.4

This, .odt files and others will not open. When I click it to open and go to
"Open with" and select Libre, it "circles around" and then stops attempting.

Dear LibreOffie contributor,

I'm a blind person and I'm trying to use the "letter wizard" with the Orca
screen reader.
I've noticed that all the form fields are not linked with their labeled, so the
result is that I know I'm in a form field but I'm not able to know their
associated label.

For example, in the first "Letter wizard" window, Orca says "Elegant combo box"
without any mention of the label associated to this field.

I confirm that this bug is still present in the Libre Office 5.1.4.2 (x64).
Czech accents, especially letters "ř" "č" and "ů" are missing after saving the
filled file.
To fillable pdf exported odt document also does not mantain correct format of
text pre-filled into fillable cells (text is not underlined, while it was
underlined in the original odt file).

The filled form also fails to be properly exported into non-editable pdf file
via pdf creator.
Exported file is empty except for this message:
ERROR: undefined

A Snipping of the table of the formular, preview, print and pdf-version

For billing I produced a formular with a table (positions of the bill) in
OpenOffice, an the formular I created was always the same in the print preview,
the print, and the pdf. (The pdf ist the backup)
Now I switched to LibreOffice (5.1.3.2). At the first view, nothing changed,
the content of the formular was the same, logo and adress of the bill was
nicely located. But every trial for a nice printing failed. The same formular
give in the best case a table with no rowname. Some times the rowname are only
some big letters in the header. If I change the zoom, the whole table changs
its position, as well other fields of the formular. Rezooming to the orginal
size gives another layout.

In the attachment I show you one table of the bill in different printing-
stages.

The problems occure only in tables of formulars. I mostly create a table out of
a view, where I filter entries of positions, belonging to one order. 
In a test, I tried to load simple tables in the formular, but most problems are
the same as well-

When placing focus on the sidebar with NVDA, after selecting Styles and
Formatting, none of the information can be accessed.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Press f11 to show the Styles and Formatting Dialog.
2. Press F6 until the Sidebar is focused.
3. Press Tab and NVDA speaks Option Pane. After this point, pressing Tab or
Shift+Tab causes NVDA to speak nothing and one must press F6 to move out of the
sidebar.

This functions in LibreOffice 5.1 correctly

Thank you for reporting the bug. I can confirm that the bug is present in
versions 3.6.0.4 up to master.

To reproduce you don't need to create a new autoformat style

How to reproduce
1. Create new document.
2. Insert table.
3. Open table autoformat window.
4. Save document.

View bad value
1. Unzip content.xml from document.
2. content.xml has an empty style value:
style:vertical-align=""

btw there is another empty style value:
style:master-page-name=""


Tested it on Ubuntu 16.04 64bit

In the case of B (Recent Document version) there is some additional behaviour
which may or may not be useful:

The formatting operation only fails when I use Shift+Cmd+J in step 2. And
thereafter the problem persists until I restart LO - no matter how often I
toggle between windowed and Full Screen mode, and whichever method I use to go
Full Screen (shortcut or menu clicks).

If, on the other hand, I use the menu option View Menu → Full Screen in step 2,
the heading style will be applied as expected. And thereafter it will continue
to work properly – whichever method I subsequently use to go Full Screen
(shortcut or menu clicks). So, when editing an existing document, this is a
possible workaround.

However, in the case of A (creating a new document), it doesn't matter whether
I use the shortcut or the menu clicks to go Full Screen initially - the
formatting fails either way. The way forward here is to save the document
early, then reopen it and use the workaround for case B above.

Yes, it seems like bug 90871 and bug 93466 are related to this one. The
description in these reports are somewhat different, but the behaviour of a
popup menu hiding behind the Windows taskbar is similar.

Yes, the problem may be restricted to using multiple monitors! I am using two
monitors (both of the same size, 1920 x 1080 pixels), but if I disconnect one
of them from the computer, I seem to be unable to reproduce the bug. 

The bug may seem harder to reproduce than my original report suggested, but if
I adjust the Windows taskbar to double height, it is easier. Probably because
this gives a broader interval between the bottom of the screen and the bottom
of the desktop above the taskbar. I have never seen the popup menu extending
further down than the bottom of the screen, only further down than the top of
the taskbar.

Systems: I have now also seen the bug with Windows 7. That system also had two
monitors (of different size), and disconnecting one of the monitors, I was
unable to reproduce the bug!

Thanks for looking into this.

The file size of libreoffice-impress.svg on my current build is 562181 bytes,
and I've verified it does not render properly when using the SVG Viewer example
from Qt (https://github.com/qt/qtsvg/tree/dev/examples/svg/svgviewer).

On another note, I've since circumvented this problem by using the
freedesktop.org standard of searching for icon files
(https://standards.freedesktop.org/icon-theme-spec/icon-theme-spec-latest.html).
This could be a Qt issue more than an LO issue, so I would understand if it
were to be closed.

Template using free PostScript fonts

I changed the template to use a free PostScript fonts. I also tried a variety
of other PostScript fonts, all of them showing the same symptom (padding right
in the Input field). So the problem seems to be connected to postscript fonts.
The used Font "Galctian" can e downloaded here:

I tested LibreOffice Calc 5.1.4 on both Windows 8.1 and OS X 10.11.5 by opening
the same XLS3.xls file enclosed in the original bug report.
The result is still wrong in LibreOffice Calc 5.1.4.2 as it was in LO 5.0.4:
the cells F4:J6 have gray background.
Only those cells marked by a letter 'G' have to have gray background (F3:J5) as
in Excel 2013 (15.0.4823.1000). If there is an 'x' in column D, the cells in
the same row (from column F to J) have to have gray background. Instead, the
cells in the next row become gray.

Is the file size 562181 bytes for the Impress icon? Or maybe 562202 bytes?

In the git source tree these files are in
sysui/desktop/icons/hicolor/scalable/apps and .../mimetypes, and from the looks
of it, were saved from Inkscape. However, the previously linked, Qt-friendly
image is also saved from Inkscape (there's a difference in the svg tag's
version field, 1.1 compared to 1.0, I don't know if that matters).
Also, I haven't found any information on Inkscape being able to produce SVG
Tiny output.

Our only hope would be that you find a free font that causes the same issue.
Volunteer developers cannot be expected to buy commercial fonts.

It is a different matter, if you buy developer time from certified devs:

As you seem to use LibreOffice in a business setting, perhaps it would be the
right choice for you. It does not seem like it would take a huge amount of
billable hours to fix..

XPropertyList and its derivatives (XHatchList, XGradientList, XColorList etc.)
hold their items in a vector of raw pointers. Methods such as Replace, Remove
return the pointer to the item and it is up to the caller to delete the item,
which results in butt-ugly code e.g. like this:

XColorEntry* pEntry = pColorList->Remove( nPos );
assert( pEntry && "ColorEntry not found !" );
delete pEntry;

Or this:

XColorEntry* pEntry = new XColorEntry(aCurrentColor, aName);
delete pColorList->Replace(pEntry, nPos);

This hack is about replacing raw pointers with smart pointers in those
containers (and of course adapt the code using them).

Code pointers: start from include/svx/xtable.hxx,
svx/source/xoutdev/xtable.cxx. Replace std::vector< XPropertyEntry*>  with
std::vector< std::unique_ptr > ( or maybe shared_ptr ... I didn't check all the
usage of this class ). 

Adapt users of those lists to use smart instead of raw pointers, compile, rinse
and repeat.

Today the snap range (Tools > Options > LibreOffice Draw > Grid) is defined by
default as 5px. This is not appropriate on high resolution screens.

Gridlines can be configured today per Tools > Options > LibreOffice Draw > Grid
on the dimensions resolution and subdivision. This leads to an equally
distanced grid, which is not the best for design [1,2]. It lacks on whitespace
between the grid lines and has no means for variable distances.

The solution may 
a) introduce just white space between grid lines (perhaps an EASYHACK)
b) offers predefined layouts
c) allows a configuration similar to columns in Writer

a demo presentation which has this bug

Problem: LibreOffice Impress does not save all changes but thinks it did. As a
result, changes get lost.

Reproduce:

1. Open LibreOffice Impress and a presentation
2. Put the cursor/focus into a box with items and type something
3. Do not remove the cursor/focus from the box
4. Then press Ctrl-S or the Save button
5. Close and reopen the document

Result: Your changes are lost

It seem's it's not reproducable with every presentation, but with the attached
one.

Thoughts: After editing the box and saving, LibreOffice marks the documents as
saved. This leads to the missing confirmation on closing.

Agreeing on comment 11 it's still an EASYHACK. having "[ ] Rotate with shape"
checked, the gradient's value for angle is adjusted to the object rotation. 

Add a checkbox to area dialog, read its state on rotation, and modify the
gradient angle continuously if checked.

This easyhack would work on gradient only, but could be applied to hatching as
well. Of course it's better to have an option with the rotation input that
affects all area styles. But this sounds more difficult to me.

The mockup is just a rough idea, the arrangement is not well done.

As the our standard is not the default it could be treated as a bug. The issue
results from the fact that users coming from other office suites wonder where
the cursor has been gone on ctrl+arrow.

Generally it's not a good idea to report bugs this way where it's a litany of
issues - even if related.

I'm not going to take the time to triage each one and I doubt any developer is
going to tackle the bug when it's at minimum 12 bugs in one. It's much better
to report individual bugs and then put "see also" to let developers know there
are related issues.

IMO this should be closed as INVALID as it's unlikely to move forward in this
state.
