It doesn't replace previous attachment by default, only when you check the
corresponding checkbox below "Obsoletes". No worries, the file is still
accessible, just not shown in the Attachments list.

Could you upload a sample in publisher format as well? Doesn't have to be the
same file, any file is fine that exhibits the bug.

Indeed, when Writer shows a space character before breaking the line (you can
see if non-printing characters are turned on), it is underscored.
It looked differently in v3.3.0 (no space character is shown before line
break), but in v3.5.0 the space, and thus the extra underscore is already
there.

I'd prefer it without the extra trailing underscore, too, but I'm no typography
expert. Buovjaga, what do you think?

Disagree. That's not a method for ordinary mortals. Common users -- people who
want to type a letter, print it, and enjoy lunch without learning computer
arcana -- don't know about regex. If they find their way to it, it's
intimidating to most people and complicated. And most people think of sentence
or paragraph length in terms of numbers of words, not letters, and don't know
that in ordinary English they should multiply a word count by 7 (including
spaces etc.), and many people don't use ordinary English, like scholars and
maybe playwrights.

I'm geeky, so I saw that your solution should work and is logical. (Regex
failed on my computer but it used to work, so I assume there's a glitch not
relevant to this report.)

A grammar or style checker in a menu would be a lot friendlier. It can use
regex behind the scenes, but ordinary users should not have to use regex except
as a last resort, and that's available already. Friendliness in the software
will expand LO's acceptance and help in competing against Microsoft Office.

Maxim, Stuart, thanks for the information!
As I can see in bug 81132, Clear Formatting was 6th on the list of most used
right click options, which seems to be very popular compared to other fairly
unused formatting options.

However, it's true Clear Direct Formatting is also there on the Formatting
toolbar, so the keyboard shortcut and menu item aren't the only options for
accessing it.

Quite sure. My private workaround instantiated months ago was to set up a
parallel installation of 4.1.6.2. Works for me, but not a practical solution
for anyone who is averse to all that custom config stuff. If LibreOffice has
any pretensions to being widely useful, necessary functions must simply work.
And the ability to deal with encapsulated PostScript is one of those functions.

WRT OO, I did encounter similar symptoms with EPSIs at least once in years
past, but those went away. Maybe the most recent problem is a resurrection of
that old bug.

I should also mention that OO Impress was able to handle EPSIs quite nicely.
That doesn't work with LibreOffice Impress, which is only able to handle
bitmaps. It may be that OO Impress merely converted the PostScript to a bitmap
without user intervention, but in any case the user didn't have to fiddle
around with ghostscript.

Just some related info:
- Although there is no UI option for it, it's possible to prevent the
population of the "Recent Documents" list entirely (instead of its clearing *on
LO exit* as in point 1 of the this bug report). To do that, change
"PickListSize" to 0 in the Expert Configuration. See bug 74834 comment 11 for
details. Note: That will also disable the recent documents *thumbnails* in the
Start Center. (This option was available apparently as of LO 4.2.x; verified
now with LO 5.1.5.)

- As of LO 5.2.0, it is possible to disable the the recent documents

Why? I mean despite the fact that this ticket is about a different issue and my
suggestion works perfectly as a solution, even with the option to edit an
unselected style, it remains very uncommon and counterintuitive to edit
something that is not selected. We talk about the sidebar, btw, and not the
Edit Style(s) dialog, where I could imagine more complicated functions. But
when we continue to implement each and every property in the sidebar and
support all tiny aspect of workflows to satisfy the least 0.001% users, we
loose all Benjamins. So again, how often and for what reason do you change
styles and do not select it (before or directly after)?

Tagging this as no-value. Devs should decide how to implement this feature, and
if right click without selection is a piece of cake, go with it.

I've used make 3.8x and 4.0 and even the head repository (own build) with
vs2013-ide-integration without issue.

There is a known bug in make that make the code generator fail sometimes, but
after trying several times the vs2013-ide-integration does actually work.

I can share the binaries I use and know to work of course (just let me know
how/where).

I have not tried VS2015.

such an option in any other app so users will wonder why its implemented. And
likely there are issues in the workflow. INVALID in my opinion.

(Sorry if this sounds too harsh. Read too many requests about feature
integration while we should aim for simplicity. If you, P.Otato, want this
feature do it as an extension, how about that?)

Many slides in PPT and PPTX files don't render correctly in LibreOffice
(multiple versions 4.3-5.2).  I've found a good example to pass along, here:

Basically from slide 20 on the majority of them are unreadable due to what
appears to be overlapping duplication of text.  It happens in the PDF export as
well.  PowerPoint 2013 renders these slides correctly.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.open

2.examine slides 20-22, 25, 29-30
3.note that several similar slides in the document appear fine, like 26-28
Actual Results:  
The aforementioned slides will render horribly.

Expected Results:  
Would like to be able to see the slides more or less as expected :)

I did this on a moderately up to date version of Ubuntu 16.04.  A co-worker
tried this on another system (Debian, I think, or an earlier Ubuntu) that had
an earlier version of LibreOffice (like 4.3.x I think) and it had very similar
issues.

Current rendering and 4.3 line rendering

I bibisected this to commit:

That was reported to fix bug 91563 that prompted the opening of this bug

But, before this commit the text was not bold, it was shown in regular. The
first regression must have happened on the 5.0 branch point, as the 4.2-4.3
bibisect repo showed it fine.

I took a screenshot and the black text bold style looks more correct than what
was in the 4.3 line.

As such, I guess the best fix would be to fix the bug in this commit?

Confirmed that the context menu doesnt maintain focus within the document when
opened, so focus isnt in document when pressing escape.

Regression as this doesnt happen in 5.1.5.

Didnt quite follow, but i'm saying that we could link the experimental options
checkbox with the visibility of notebookbar entry in the toolbar layout submenu
(.uno:ToolbarMode) and we would likely have to remove the notebookbar submenu
(.uno:Notebookbar) from the view menu unless it can be hidden.

Already mentioned in the release notes as it was GSoC work.

I doubt notebookbar is needed in math, as the toolbar is pretty much empty
already, or for basic ide as devs dont care for a notebookbar interface. No

Thats why i'm suggesting it only be visible when experimental options is
enabled, as it is unfinished.

Yes bumping to 6.0 for the release of notebookbar sounds like a good idea, and

If you enabled the experimental options, only the menu entry to activate the
sidebar became visible. Nothing more.

Well the sidebar was an experimental feature in 4.1 before its debut in 4.2, so
maybe the notebookbar should only be visible when the experimental checkbox is

Well that doesnt change the fact of having the other toolbar modes easily
accessible.

There is going to be alot of hype/discussion/retaliation around the notebookbar
when 5.3 is released and people are going to try it and reporters are going to
write about it and i'm assuming it will also be featured in the 'what's new'
videos. So we better braise for impact.

So you can press up and down in the control but it stays in the [M] column and
left and right should likely allow to switch to the [T] column.

Hmm, interesting. Find I am unable to select the "custom" glue point while it
has a connector attached. Attempts to select always select the connector with
no way to shift to the glue point.  I have to move the connector off the glue
point to be able to select it. Or am I missing something?

"Create PDF Form' is enabled by default and enabling "Archive PDF" disables
that option. Also when i tested exporting a file (number 6 from comment 12), it
gave some warnings of loss of features and the file size jumped 50% compared to
the tagged pdf version, so i wouldnt think it would be suitable as default for
the masses.

I can select, modify and delete the glue-point without detaching the connector.
Perhaps you have not deselected the connector? It may not have red end points,
when you try to click on the glue-point.

Got your email so i'm responding. :D

Selection is primarily a function of the mouse left click, which is why i left
the selection options out of the reorganization of the table context menu. We
normally left click select and then right-click for options to do to the
selection, like when we left-click select text and then right-click copy.

You can easily select a row, column or entire table in a similar way of doing
it in calc, by left clicking above the column, left clicking to the left of a
row or left clicking at the top left corner of the table. The only not-so easy
selection is selecting a cell, which requires you to select 2 cells and then
return to select a single one, which still is a left click selection option.

As it maybe difficult for users to do table selections, i added all the table
select options to the table toolbar, though only the cell and table ones are
shown by default because of size restrains.

I wouldnt be for adding the select submenu in the context menu because of the
above reasons and in order to keep the context menu size to a minimal size,
especially as some table functions (e.g. merge cells) in the context menu are
contextual and only shown when they are enabled. That doesnt mean that you cant
add them to the context menu yourself in Tools > Customize > Context Menus.

Some STR from bug 90584

Steps:
1) Open Draw
2) Draw a shape
3) Turn on glue points (Edit > Glue Points)
4) Insert a glue point onto the shape
5) Right-click the glue point

Had not played much with the diagramming connectors and their anchors/glue
points.

So found this gets a bit awkward.  The Glue Points toolbar and context menu
applies ONLY to "custom" glue points that are added to objects with the Insert
Glue Point action.  The tools have no affect on the "default" glue points
created on the edges of simple polygon draw objects.

In a draw shape absent the "default" glue points the connectors will attach to
the edge of the draw shape with some rules about crossing the body of the
shape. 

The "default" glue points can not be deleted nor their "rules" modified. 

Once a connector has been attached to a "custom" glue point, the glue point can
not be selected to be modified--so the connector has to be pulled away to
another anchor first.

So there should probably be an Uno action--on the context menu, and on the glue
points toolbar--to release the "custom" glue point and send the connector end
to another glue point or sit unconnected on the canvas.  

The unattached "custom" glue point can then be selected. Once selected its
properties can be modified--via the context menu, or on the glue points
toolbar. Or it can be deleted, but just with a  key.  Seems that with
such a complex object behavior being controlled from both context menu and
toolbar--omission of Delete action from the context menu is incomplete. 

But in the context of expanding Draw diagramming capability, I also could
envision other UI controls that would be of use--duplicate the glue point (with
its directional attribute) for example. But guess with too much more
complexity, the context menu starts to become unclear--using split buttons on
the toolbar might then become the better UI.  

So how often do we expect LO to be used over DIA or Visio--is this a facet to
enhance?
