I believe the issue is unrelated to these. I thought "unspecified" is the right
thing to specify, but come to think of it "Inherited form OOo" is more
accurate. Sorry about that.

I'm not a coder, but I wonder if having a look at Bug 46182 might help to find
a solution to this.

Can we mark this as NEW?

I don't have any knowledge about Impress transitions and I thought that the
crashes occurred due to not high enough OpenGL version in my system. I have no
idea what OpenCL is and how it is related. If you think that this part should
be removed from the title, please do so :-)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 103596] New: Support OpenType Font Variation based text layout

2016-10-30 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103596

Bug ID: 103596
Summary: Support OpenType Font Variation based text layout
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: shanshandehongx...@outlook.com

Description:
Recently OpenType specification introduced Font Variation in version 1.8, as
the specification, this technology allow a font designer to incorporate
multiple font faces within a font family into a single font resource.

Steps to Reproduce:
To make specific font variation available, some of operations such as Bold and
Italic need to handle OT Font Variation mechanism.

Actual Results:
If LibreOffice get this support, any documents opened/saved with LibreOffice
could also use OT Variation based text layout.

Expected Results:
If LibreOffice get support for this technology, it would get predictable
appearences when using fonts that use OT Font Variation mechanism, and getting
great flexibility for content authors and designers while also allowing the
font data to be represented in an efficient format.

Reproducible: Always

That saves me (and probably many others) the confusion. :-)

I'm still puzzled by "that is not supported (maybe because of low OPENGL
version)". I can't see how OpenGL got "lowered" on 5.2. If this is unrelated, I
suggest removing this part.

working before I upgraded to Ubuntu 16.10.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install LibreOffice from the repositories.
2. Run it.
3. Try Impress transitions... watch them fail.

Actual Results:
The transitions flicker but do not function smoothly (with the exception of a

All transitions supported by the graphics chip work.

No. I am just an end user, not a tester. When I encountered the bug, I found
a work around by using regedit to change the permissions. I verified the bug
on several computers and reported it. In the past I was in charge of
Engineering for several silicon valley companies and had QA reporting to me so
I understand the drill but I don't have the time to work on a bug that I can
work around and is not mine. Nor am I conversant in the latest testing tools.
This bug could be in Libre Office, Adobe Photoshop, Windows or a combination of
them or something else entirely.

Thanks for the more ODF-oriented and still easy to understand description of
the issue.

Yes, it is. I use Libre Office Draw at my work as well as draw.io (which is
open source, too)

I think another facet of this can be found in the autocorrect tables. Tools ->
AutoCorrect -> AutoCorrect Options the font/glyphs for the replacement value
seems badly composed.

Missing a lot of glyphs for the emoji entries--placeholder boxes-- and looks
like many with an entry simply have an incorrect glyph shown.

(In reply to jan d from comment #0)
> Steps to Reproduce:
> 1. Try to create a custom shape with elements with different fill colors

This report is about a fairly esoteric subject and that single repro step does
not really do justice to the complexity involved.

The creation of custom shapes is described in these articles:
http://books.evc-cit.info/odbook/custom_shapes_article.pdf
https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Create_a_New_Custom_Shape_in_Source_in_File

I took a look at Mark Lautman's "GUI Elements and Controls".

The scrollbar is defined like this in the content.xml:

We can see that all the elements of the shape are drawn in one path definition.
"Z" means "Close subpath by drawing a line to the beginning point of
subpath."
"N" means "End subpath".

To use different fill colors for the scrollbar background and buttons, we would
have to use separate draw:custom-shape elements. However, the problem appears
to be that the handle and equations cannot be shared by different shapes.

Regina: what do you think about this? Wouldn't this involve changing the ODF
spec?

Btw. thanks for educating me, Jan: I had no idea this was even possible. The
use for GUI elements is really intriguing and I have to show this to the
LibreOffice design team.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 103590] New: With experimental Harfbuzz common layout, +X Unicode toggle having fall back issues

2016-10-30 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103590

Bug ID: 103590
Summary: With experimental Harfbuzz common layout, +X
Unicode toggle having fall back issues
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: major
  Priority: medium
 Component: graphics stack
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: vstuart.fo...@utsa.edu

Description:
When HarfBuzz based layout is enabled, the +X Unicode toggle is changing
script and "misinterpreting" glyphs.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. enable HarfBuzz based common layout with SAL_USE_COMMON_LAYOUT
2. Open and new Writer document
3. select a font with some SMP coverage for the Misc Symbols and Pictographs
(DejaVu Sans, Symbola, Noto Emoji)
4. enter following Unicode codepoints as text (for airplane, peace, car, rho):
U+2708 U+2628 U+1f697 U+1d68
5. convert with +X each of the Unicode points to its glyph, position
cursor to last character and toggle for each
6. what happens when converting the last entry?

Actual Results:
The glyphs are recast into another font/language--I can't tell which, but it
looks garbled up.

Expected Results:
script/language and font should not change when toggling one symbol that is
from a code page--greek here for the "rho", similar happens with other
codepoints from the Greek & Coptic page.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
First noticed this in Math formula editor module where being able to directly
add additional mathematics symbols had been facilitated by the Unicode
codepoint toggle. This facet of the script & font handling in HarfBuzz has
scrambled things.

It has been decided that the Navigator should be displayable apart from the
Styles and Formatting window (in the Side Bar). People use both at the same
time.

To be clear, the fallback font/canvas composition issue with HarfBuzz is
transient, affecting just the canvas refresh of Math's preview canvas and
examples on its Element pane. A zoom in or out will eventually redraw with a
correct glyph.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 103588] New: With experimental Harfbuzz common layout, Formula editor having noticeable fall back issues

2016-10-30 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103588

Bug ID: 103588
Summary: With experimental Harfbuzz common layout, Formula
editor having noticeable fall back issues
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: graphics stack
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: vstuart.fo...@utsa.edu

Description:
On current Windows build of master with SAL_USE_COMMON_LAYOUT environment set,
running the Math module Formula editor is having some issues with font fall
back for OpenSymbol fonts.

Steps to Reproduce:
On Windows 10 Pro 64-bit en-US with
Version: 5.3.0.0.alpha1+
Build ID: f19f88a0d49859eb714711cac72793f09f5f7d5c
CPU Threads: 8; OS Version: Windows 6.2; UI Render: GL;
TinderBox: Win-x86@62-merge-TDF, Branch:MASTER, Time: 2016-10-29_06:17:53
Locale: en-US (en_US); Calc: CL

1. enable HarfBuzz based Common Layout with env variable
2. OpenGl rendering enabled
3. open a new Formula from Start Center
4. from the Element Dock (panel on the left) select Examples from dropdown list
5. select the f(x) with summation (4th sample of the list)
6. selecting the formula writes StarMath markup "f ( x ) = sum from { { i = 0 }
} to { infinity } { {f^{(i)}(0)} over {i!} x^i}" into the lower Fromula
editor's panel. And the formula will render to the Preview Window.
7. Zoom-out or Zoom-in or "Show All" to scale the formula preview

Actual Results:
Preview will sometimes show the OpenGL symbols, but sometimes shows the symbols
in what appears to be Segoe UI -- but for dfferent code points.

Similar with other example formulas--wrong font for symbol codepoints.

Attaching screen clips.

Expected Results:
No visual glitch, and canvas of the Preview window reliably render the
OpenSymbol

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
Setting a font substitution for OpenSymbol with Asana Math or STIX (from Tools
-> Options -> Fonts) does not exhibit the issue.

This is what i tested yesterday.
gen - cell properties dialog via shortcut (CTRL+1) opens instantly, obviously
the interface is not so nice, but the issue is that main toolbar is transparent
and one can see the windows behind. Otherwise it's OK.
gtk3 - when clicking CTRL+1 - nothing happens for up to 10 seconds, that it
shows a black rectangle (with the size of the dialog window), and stays black a
couple of minutes, and suddenly everything is shown an then it works OK. On
subsequent opening of the same dialog it is a bit faster, but still too slow.
gtk - works fast, the interface is OK, but there are some minor issues (for
example, you can not see the frame indicating the current cell in Calc), which
is also annoying.
kde4 - similar transparency problems like with gen, otherwise it works OK.

But then after it I saw that there was an update of gtk3 and all it's issues
seem to be solved with the latest version gtk3.
The rest of the described issues in gen, gtk and kde4 modes are still present.

Now, knowing that the problem might have been due to gtk3 itself, this is the
history of the recent updates of gtk3.

If it's due to gtk3, I think that the problem might have started occuring with
the upgrades in august (line 2 or 3 above)

I will try later to find and install those specific gtk3 versions, to try and
reproduce the issue, and do a DEBUG with callgrind and post the results here
again.

This seems to be either a bug in Graphite or its HarfBuzz integration. It seems
that on Windows we sometimes get the same advance widths despite the current
font scale. This patch should print the advance widths we are getting from
HarfBuzz:

There is a difference in the values we get on Windows and on Linux.

@Martin: Do you have any idea what is going on here, would it be related to the
fact that we cache the HarfBuzz font and reuse it with different scales?

It could be better to made like Gimp and add an option "Single-Window Mode" to
integrate all in the Sidebar and when you uncheck it you would be in old
"Detached-Widows Mode".
But the logical (and most expected) is to integrate all in the Sidebar, but
nobody ask for that because is already the enable.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 103586] New: Shortcuts to "My Macros and Dialogs" do not work anymore under ArchLinux

2016-10-30 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103586

Bug ID: 103586
Summary: Shortcuts to "My Macros and Dialogs" do not work
anymore under ArchLinux
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.6.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED

Macro to illustrate the problem

For several months now, shortcuts to macro activation do not work anymore.
Quite annoying.

In Bugzilla I could not find this bug. Bug 103297 looks somewhat similar, but I
am talking about LibreOffice documents, not Microsoft .doc documents. Strange
that this bug has not been reported yet. Now, with the latest ArchLinux
LibreOffice still 5.1.6.2.0+ (5.1.6.2 ArchLinux build-1) just released and the
problem not solved, I write this bug report. Of course the problem might only
occur under ArchLinux, it might not happen under another Linux distribution or
Windows, but I can only verify under ArchLinux, updated until the moment this
bug was submitted.

With this bug report I have included an extremely simple macro to illustrate.
Please install it and assign a shortcut as follows:

Tools | Customize | press LibreOffice top right | functions | LibreOffice
Macros | user | Standard | Test | HelloWorld

Assign e.g. Alt-A (I always assign a shortcut containing the Alt key on a US
keyboard layout) and do Modify.

Then open a new LibreOffice text document and press Alt-A. Nothing happens.
Fortunately, the macro runs when you do

Tools | Macros | Run Macro | My Macros | Standard | .

Under LibreOffice fresh 5.2.2.2.0+ (Build ID 5.2.2-2) the situation is
different, but not any better in this context. There, after assigning the
shortcuts to scripts, when you press a shortcut key combination, the
corresponding script of the main toolbar is activated.

At the moment, on my machines, ArchLinux runs kernel version 4.8.4-1-ARCH #1
SMP PREEMPT. LibreOffice still runs on 2 PCs, LibreOffice fresh on a third PC.

Kind regards,
Andre Hasekamp.

This bug seems somewhat related to the Sierra Display color issue (bug 100994).
On Sierra 10.12 and 10.12.1 with an external Monitor connected and not using
the
Color profile (it is named "LCD display") everything works fine.
Without an external monitor connected the Color Profile doesn't matter, it
isn't working.

The differences with bug 100994
- No discrete graphic card
- The problem doesn't occur on first action with LO. LO is working normally
till

I minimize and not every minimize action will lead to a hang. Sometimes I can
minimize the first window without a glitch, but after the second or third it
will occur.
