[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 41915] named cells not highlighted when editing formulae

2017-03-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41915

I agree with comment #20, there isn't really a bug here as asserted in the
final para of comment #0. What is surprising is that when using
Insert->Names->Create (after highlighting 'name cell' on the left together with
adjacent 'value cell' on the right), there is an automatic transformation of
the name in some cases, eg if the name is "AA1", then the created name is not
"AA1" but "_AA1". There is no warning about this, and as the screenshot shows,
it can also be almost impossible to see the underscore in the modified name.
But not a bug with the formula highlighting feature per se.

However, if one is in the habit of named cells not being highlighted, then one
may not notice and may not check that such a name transformation has been
applied. Highlighting of named references would help greatly with debugging in
this little corner case.

The clip region in fact cuts off the lower part of the bottom border,
both
on screen and when printing / exporting to PDF.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 105481] Formula disappears after file save and re-open

2017-03-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=105481

They do disappear 'for real'. If I save my document, then re-open it, then
print or export as PDF... no formulae! I uploaded my conference paper recently
to the conference organisers, and received feedback that my formulas were
missing. Embarrassing!

Also, there is no workaround. There is nothing I have been able to do to the
document to stop this problem re-occurring. However it is that my document is
corrupted (or whatever it is that the bug in LibreOffice might be), the
equations just keep disappearing every time I load the file. I have tried
deleting them and re-creating them, etc etc, but it keeps happening.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 106562] New: no keyboard shortcut for Format->Character in Impress

2017-03-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106562

Bug ID: 106562
Summary: no keyboard shortcut for Format->Character in Impress
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.2.5.1 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: j...@curioussymbols.com

Description:
There is no keystroke defined for Format->Character in Impress.
It used to be Alt-O-H, but that seems to have disappeared.
I'm not sure when it happened, but at some point all of the muscle-memorized
keystrokes of LibreOffice were thrown out the window, changed and disappeared.
It would be so great if someone could do a methodical study of this and ensure
that features are available by keyboard. Confiscate the mouses of a few
developers for a few days and it will all be fixed :-)

Steps to Reproduce:
Open Impress, a default setup (no customised keystrokes), create a text box,
select some text (using the keyboard), try to type CO2 with 20%-lowered
subscript '2'. This requires the Format->Character dialog; it cannot be
achieved using the sidebar options.

(Side comment: there is no way to turn off 'Automatic' with the keyboard, in
the Format->Character dialog, either)

Actual Results:
The only way to access Format->Character with Libreoffice Impress is currently
Alt F DOWN DOWN DOWN DOWN DOWN DOWN ENTER...

(I'm on Ubuntu 16.04 with Unity)

Expected Results:
Alt F H ("C_haracter" with 'h' underlined)

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: N/A (No)

Additional Info:

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:52.0) Gecko/20100101

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 106476] Page formats vary although all page style settings are identical

2017-03-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106476

That seems pretty strange, but it's useful information if I can figure out what
you mean.

I don't understand why you say Page Style (Convert 8) had
Page size set to:
- Width 5.00 in
- Height 7.99 in
Changed Height to 8.00 in.

In my copies, including the files I sent, I have:
- Width 360 pt
- Height 575 pt

None of this explains why the two files, with identical settings for every
property of the Convert 8 page style and the CSP Chapter Body paragraph style
are laid out differently by LO. Surely the difference in layout should be
reflected by some visible difference in one of the settings?

When you said "You cannot set a page size in inches, a font size in points, a
before/after paragraph spacing in inches - and expect everything to fit."

- that's helpful. But since I have paragraph spacing of 0 for before and
after, I assume you mentioned that just for completeness.

I assume the key point you're making is that I'll need to make sure that the
Page Height is an integer multiple of all the parts that go to fill the page.
That's really helpful, and I can get to work on that if I know a little more.

Is there a diagram or a wiki page that explains what all the component pieces
are? It's not obvious to me which elements add, and which ones reserve space
within some other page element.

I'll also need to know what Leading is used. Specifically, with spacing set to
Single and font size of 10.5, what leading does LO use? 1pt? 1.5pt? 2pt? With
that info, I can know how much vertical space I need for the no. of lines I
want. (Because I have inter-paragraph spacing set to 0.)

I just spent 15 mins googling and searching in the LibreOffice help wiki
unsuccessfully trying to find that information.

My best guess is that the paper height will be the Page height.
That the Top Margin and Bottom margin specify the vertical space allocated for
those parts of the page, and that the Footer and Header are irrelevant, because
they specify the layout of Header (Footer) elements *within* the Top Margin
(Bottom Margin). (I assume that in Heading, Spacing gives the distance from
the top edge of the paper to the baseline of the header elements. Hmm, but then
I can't guess what the Height is used for. Whether the header elements are
measured from the edge of the paper, or from the edge of the margin, I don't
understand why you need two numbers, so I clearly don't understand that.

The Help page for Header: https://help.libreoffice.org/Common/Header is hard to
follow. A diagram would really help! But I think it
means the Convert 8 page style is a bit weird: Height is the total height of
the header (2.9pt only in Convert 8!) but Use Dynamic Spacing allows that
distance to be exceeded.

It says the Height is the height of the header. Spacing (23.1 pt in Convert 8
page style) is the distance between the bottom edge of the header and the top
edge of the document text. So it's a relative number: sounds like it adds
therefore to the Height.

This doesn't seem to match what I see, so clearly I'm not understanding it, and
I'll need to go and do some experiments. I can't work it out from the Help
page. In my doc, it looks more like spacing is the gap between the edge of the
paper and the baseline of the header contents. But maybe those dimensions are
coming from the contents because Autofit Height is on, and perhaps the info is
coming from the Header paragraph style, or possibly from that and the Header
Right/Left paragraph styles (Font and Indents/Spacing).. nope, that doesn't
match what's in my doc. I seem to remember there's a Character Style defined
for Headings that might override that, too. Or perhaps it's overridden just by
editing the text for the header directly...

I'm getting very confused. I need to go and do some experiments. I'm still
very concerned though that the two documents have different number of lines per
page despite having the same dimensions set for all page elements.

Time for experimentation. On a copy of the doc, obviously.

Thanks at least for pointing me at something that will let me try out some
things, and making me realise I don't understand at all how the page layout
works.

Piece of code from import:
rContext->Insert(PROP_WRITING_MODE, uno::makeAny( text::WritingMode2::LR_TB ));
rContext->Insert(PROP_PARA_ADJUST, uno::makeAny( style::ParagraphAdjust_LEFT ),
/*bOverwrite=*/false);
http://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/writerfilter/source/dmapper/DomainMapper.cxx#1453

I wonder if this piece of code is what is causing the bug, or later where the
value of PROP_PARA_ADJUST is considered instead of what is inherited from the
style.

Then the other question is whether bidi attribute should actually be written in
the OOXML in this case, even if it's set to 0 (false).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 106557] Crash in: SfxItemSet::Get(unsigned short, bool)

Maxim Monastirsky changed:

   What|Removed |Added

   Keywords|bibisected, bisected, |
   |regression |

This is not fixed in master, e.g right click the toolbar and choose "Line
Spacing", or run this BASIC macro:

dim document as object
dim dispatcher as object
document   = ThisComponent.CurrentController.Frame
dispatcher = createUnoService("com.sun.star.frame.DispatchHelper")
dispatcher.executeDispatch(document, ".uno:LineSpacing", "", 0, Array())

Similarly this can't be a regression from the toolbar changes, because one
could customize the toolbar or run the BASIC macro before that too.

In addition, SfxItemSet::Get crashes can happen in many places in the codebase,
and for completely different reasons. So Bug 104266 is unrelated to this one,
and should be reopened.

Pranav told me a few days ago that this feature was part of the original
Leaflet, but without requiring the Ctrl key being pressed, and hence was turned
off. So finding the original code, and reactivating it with the addition of
requiring the Ctrl key could be a possible approach here.

Do a git blame in Map.Scroll.js, and see Mihai Varga's earlier commits to find
which was the one that disabled this function. That should help you get
started.

This task will be a bit more challenging, good luck! :)

Hi Aron,
Thanks you for bisecting the fix.
It seems the crash was introduced when the toolbar was reworked in commit

can be easily fixed and backported.

2017-03-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106561

Bug ID: 106561
Summary: Transparent image saved in ms word format is not
transparent when opened in MS Word.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.6.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: dogs...@gmail.com

Description:
I selected and image with an alpha channel in GIMP (my signature).
I pasted the image into an MS Word document that I had open in Writer.
I changed the image to wrap through and the string of periods could be seen
through the image.
I saved the file and clicked the box to retain MS Word format.
The file was opened in MS Office on a Windows computer and the image was no
longer transparent. I had to change the transparency level in MS Office 2010 by
write clicking on the image.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Create a grey scale image with a transparent background in GIMP. (e.g. a
signature)
2.Select and copy the image to the clipboard.
3.Load a MS Word document into Writer.
4. Paste the image over some text. (e.g. a signature line)
5. Change the image to wrap through.
6. Save the image in MS Word format.
7. Open the file in MS Word.

Actual Results:
Do not have time to try.

Expected Results:
The image should be transparent.

Reproducible: Didn't try

User Profile Reset: No

When will a complete revision of help with alignment to reality?
Here is another case in point regarding the "Format" menu.
- clicking on "Formato" menu (screen #1), and from here on the help button it
displays screen #2 that does not help at all.
- going online we find two different two different lists of items (screen #3)
- looking than at cell formatting still two different item lists (screen #4)
- now, in the app menu displays a "Divisore" category of which there is no
trace in any help (what is it?).

The fixing commit is below. However, it's not a good backport candidate as
stated by Maxim in [1]. This has to be fixed differently in 5.3, thus resetting
status to NEW.

Maxim, do you think there could be a quick fix to this crash in 5.3?

Open a blank LibreOffice Draw document.
Open the "Text Formatting" toolbar. Be sure it is positioned such that the
"Line Spacing" tool is not displayed, but must be accessed via the expansion
arrows on the left side of the toolbar.
Expand the toolbar using the expansion arrows and select the "Line Spacing"
tool.

The problem still exists in LO 5.3.0.3. Comment #4 is still active.

The slider/elevator moves through the records and NOT through the Field Names.
There are separate buttons to go through the records. Did somebody lock the
slider to the wrong object/list??

You are assuming that LO won't have bugs in that. Or have better usability and
less learning requirement than a specialized tool. On my tests, the latter ones
are more intuitive (drag-and-drops, etc.) than spreadsheets used for that (see
below). And support, though not perfectly, file formats interchangeable with MS
Project and other project tools. I think one would have more troubles
interchanging between LO and MS excel, etc. in that respect.

I wouldn't open that can of worms in LO by trying to add project management
functionality to it. There is already enough on the plate with its core role -
being an office suite.

> Implementing (simple) GANTT charts would also be a marketing relevant issue
> IMHO (User is testing LibO for GANTT charts of some data. "Oh, what a

There are already plenty templates for the so inclined (though I personally
wouldn't use it):
LO:
- https://extensions.libreoffice.org/templates/gantt-chart-template

Other spreadsheet software (Excel): countless can be found on the Internet.

Caolán, *

for bug 91932,
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=ff178cca3384a1d15dcf51491df6196e487f47f4
provides UI for setting case effects, but as noted here as soon as you leave a
Text box with Small Caps formatting applied it shifts and just a Capitals
effect results.

Lowercase and Title effect apply and are retained along with Capitals effect on
leaving the Text box. So CaseMap is mostly correct, but for some reason the
Small Caps does not remain intact.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 106551] New: Area fill options tabs: Add button to rename custom colors/gradients/bitmaps/patterns/hatches

2017-03-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106551

Bug ID: 106551
Summary: Area fill options tabs: Add button to rename custom
colors/gradients/bitmaps/patterns/hatches
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.0.3 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: UI
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: thomas.le...@gmail.com

The new area fill options make it possible to add new colors, gradients,
bitmaps, patterns and hatches. But after adding, it's not possible to rename
it. You can only delete and re-add it but that's not user-friendly for example
if you have added it in a sorted manner and deleting + re-adding would destroy
that order.

Steps to reproduce:
- Open a Writer document.
- Go to Format > Paragraph > Area > Color
- Add a new color to the custom palette and enter a name.

Actual result:
There is no way to rename the color. (This also occurs for gradients, bitmaps,
patterns and hatches.)

Expected result:
A rename button could be added beside the existing Add/Delete/Modify buttons.

(LibO version 5.3.0.3)

This issue with document colors is handled in bug 106187 and bug 106188. The
meta ticket for is bug 85184 for issues with color picker toolbar and sidebar
drop-down widget plus bug 87064 for the color picker as well as bug 104118 in

I have found a workaround that is to set the type at "line-callout-1" and the
svg:width="0.001cm" svg:height="0.001cm"

...in this way the svg:viewBox is very small and always under the handle,
therefore you can not see

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 106550] New: regression: text fields in PPT files have zero width

2017-03-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106550

Bug ID: 106550
Summary: regression: text fields in PPT files have zero width
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.3.0.3 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Impress
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: uwesto...@web.de

Description:
Text fields in PPT and PPTX files have zero width in Impress.

This bug is a regression to Impress 5.2.x. It affects PPT and also PPTX files.
This bug makes Impress more ore less unusable and I had therefore downgrade to
Impress 5.2.x for daily work.

Steps to Reproduce:
Open a PPT or PPTX file of your choice that has a text field. I also attached a
very simple one-slide example PPT file.

Actual Results:
The text fields have zero width. Therefore all letters of the field are placed
upon each other, see the attached screenshot.

Expected Results:
Well, readable text of course.

I agree with Sergio.

this fix, though correct from a technical point of view, will probably create
more negative effects from a user point of view.

It would be probably better to post-pone it to 5.4.x and alert extension
creators that requirement changed and that they have to fix their own codes to
make it functional in LibO

Thomas Lendo changed:

Using simple GANTT charts is not abusing a spreadsheet software. For example,
other chart features are only useful for university/science but maybe there are
special tools that could be used for that instead of LibO.

In a perfect world, using a tool like GanttProject would be the solution. But
in real world there are many disadvantages: buggy tools, tools with bad
usability, training/learning effort for new tools, possibility to install
software (e.g. in company environments) and so on.

Implementing (simple) GANTT charts would also be a marketing relevant issue
IMHO (User is testing LibO for GANTT charts of some data. "Oh, what a powerful
tool. Could replace my current spreadsheet software ...").

This has been a long-standing bug, which dates back to the earliest versions of
LO5, also in combination with some updates on the macOS side of things. It
makes LO pretty much useless to Zotero users, who then turn to M$ Office to get
around this issue. While not a programmer, I am a solid user of both LO and
Zotero, so please feel free to contact me in case you'd like me involved with
testing, etc. To sweeten the deal, I'll send a good donation to the Foundation
as soon as our favourite productivity software is back on track! Many many

2017-03-15 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #8 from sergio.calleg...@gmail.com ---
> missing closing parenthesis in Basic expressions is now considered to be an
> error (which it really is)

Hard not to agree, yet:

Is there any good reason why a change with the potential to break extensions
has gone into a point release? According to wikipedia, which I think is copying
over the LibO policy, "[LibO] Releases are designated by three numbers
separated by dots. The first number is the major version (branch) number, the
second one usually indicates small changes, and the final one /bugfixes/."

Can this be pushed back for 5.4, having the 5.3.x point releases from now on
carry a clear deprecation statement in the release notes?

> Please have extension authors fix their code

Hard not to agree again, but without a clear deprecation note it will leave
users needing the extensions on "stable" rather than "fresh" until the
extensions are fixed, which will leave users with a codebase with less features
and ultimately make "fresh" less tested (possibly leading to a more buggy
"stable" when "fresh" is promoted)

Screenshot showing only font colors but no highlight colors

Heiko, is this feature only to list font colors? In my test with LibO 5.3.0.3
there are only font colors listed - but no highlight colors. See the attached
screenshot and the test file.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 106228] [Meta] Icon issues

Sounds reasonable to have theme specific meta tickets and another one to
collect everything. The Sifr ticket consists of two unconfirmed requests,
though. So whatever you suggest to do, I'm fine with it.

Yes it is, though maybe inevitable in some filter code cases, but moving the
file to a higher hierarchy level and adapting the include effectively hides
that and invites for further abuse all over the place.

We can try.. but having taken a look at the mentioned ScDocShell case it's
definitely not just a five minute task [1] ... and no quick idea how it
actually could be solved. difficultyInteresting certainly is applicable ;-)

However, there *are* the easy cases where moving a header is appropriate, but
it has to be decided on a case by case basis keeping header scope in mind, and
reviewers should be aware of the underlying problem.

Please upload it to http://wikisend.com/ and I can compress it so it fits the
10 MB limit.
