Ok, so now you decided to just start disrespecting me as a volunteer and
implying I'm some sort of paid support. Classy.

Please contact the developer of the extension and ask them to do the
modifications you want regarding XLSX files. After all, the developer has
decided how the thing works. It might be that the developer says it is working
as intended. In any case, not the problem of upstream LibreOffice.

text file of corrupted strings dumped from PDF

This text file is a gswin64c string dump from the ODT with Calibri export. The
PDF is composed correctly--but the strings have characters transposed. Same
document with a font change of the Default Paragraph style to use Arial or
Liberation Sans exported to PDF that also views correctly--and when strings are
extracted no glitches (attached next post).

Confirmed on Windows 10 Pro 64-bit en-US with
 Version: 6.0.3.2 (x64)
Build ID: 8f48d515416608e3a835360314dac7e47fd0b821
CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0; UI render: default;
Locale: en-US (en_US); Calc: CL

So this is really weird--is it a problem with the font. Or with export
filtering to PDF?

In sample ODT, the Default paragraph style has modified font to use Calibri,
and direct formatting is applied to increase font size.

Exporting from the ODT to PDF result renders in various viewers (Adobe Reader,
Firefox, Chrome) correct appearance. But as noted, a select, copy, paste from
the document has characters garble: l -> a, a -> l, o -> i, i -> o, g -> " "

Then dumping text of the PDF with gs (i.e. 'gswin64c -sDEVICE=txtwrite -o
output.txt Tue-1000-Apr-10-2018-Devotion-2.pdf') has corrupted strings.

If I change the Default style to use a font other than Calibri--e.g. Liberation
Sans, or Arial--the resulting PDF then has no string corruption on copy/paste
or if dumping the strings with gs.

For now can work around of using a different font.

But weird!

I attached bt corresponding to the location where we get column names.

In brief, some column names are ok others have values "CONSTANT". So since
there are several "CONSTANT" columns, there are logs of duplicates and at the
end there's only 1 column "CONSTANT".

It _was_ x86 when I tried to install LO 6.0.0. But since then I have upgraded
my OS with x64 and SP1, and then I tried to install LO 6.0.3. which has been
published later on. But like I said, the problem persists. Perhaps this is a
different problem altogether, though file LO is asking for is still a DLL, but
it is a different DLL. I have reverted back to the LO 5x series, but I am
hoping a solution would emerge.

Looks like getColumnName should return aliasname and not sqlname.

Looks like different columns are added to the collection with the same name,
and thus are not added to the collection (only the first to have a particular
name will be added?). I think if you but a breakpoint at the place of these
warnings, you will find the problem by going up the stack.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116912] New: UI: Excessive Redraw/ Recalculate Effort During Resize Operation

2018-04-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116912

Bug ID: 116912
Summary: UI: Excessive Redraw/Recalculate Effort During Resize
Operation
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.6.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: tcol...@livingdata.com.au

I observe that Calc (V5.1.6.2) seems to do multiple redraws during the window
resize operation. This works fine for small simple files. For larger files,
with higher processing loads, it is a problem. I find that after a resize
operation, I can wait from 1-30 seconds for the multiple redrawings to finish
executing and catch up with the final window size. I think this redrawing
includes multiple recalculations of formulas, of which VLOOKUP is noted for
being particularly demanding. The queuing and execution of multiple redraws
seems completely unnecessary and makes calc files, that are otherwise quite
functional, difficult to resize. Could the redraw procedure be reworked so that
there is no accumulation or queuing of multiple redraw or recalculate events?

Bug ID: 116911
Summary: PDF generated from LibreOffice Writer has a problem
where text from the document, when copied gets
mangled.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Printing and PDF export
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: kevin.bu...@gmail.com

Description:
I create documents regularly which are then converted to PDF by LibreOffice.
When I open the documents in one of several PDF readers and highlight/copy the
text and then paste it into a text editor or into the editor of a Word Press
site, the text gets garbled. Most of the characters and sentences are correct,
but then there are sections where different characters appear or no characters
appear. I would guess overall it is is 90-95% correct.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Export PDF
2. Open in PDF reader. Copy some text to clipboard.
3. Paste into plain text processor

Actual Results:
I will attach the original document, the PDF and the text file generated from
the copy/paste. I will also attach an image of my very plain/default PDF export
settings.

Expected Results:
see above

LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,
QA Team

I can confirm the error. In the fill style "Custom position/size the fields are
only updated with the actual size of the image, after you close and reopen the

The initial size is set to 1cm x 1cm. It should be set to the size of the

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 88108] Feature request - Option to lock formatting on cells and/ or entire sheet, while allowing editing

2018-04-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon

I often need this, because I tend to make lists and then sort items into
already formatted columns. Newly moved items overwrite the cell's format in the
column and then i have to reapply copy format downwards.

I suggest this to be implemented as a modifier of moving. It is as when one
presses:
  Ctrl+(mouse_move) to copy a cell

In a similar case, this could be done by
Shift+(mouse_move) to move cell without format

Shift+F3 to launch the Duplicate dialog is the legacy control for
StarOffice/OOo and remains associated Shortcut on AOO, as well as on
LibreOffice from inception--in other words no compelling reason to change.

If an Inkscape or Illustrator user prefers, the Ctrl+D shortcut is available to
assign on the Tools -> Customize: Keyboard tab of the Draw module or the
Impress module.

> Adding TC comments to the TC tooltips could be an EASYHACK.

If we're going sacrifice UX for ease of implementation, we should make this
optional and possible to disable. See bug 114523, as an example of how users
hate the tooltips UI.

If a user wants information, it should be readily available in a nice format.
Tooltips not only make you wait, they are hard to activate. They can also be
very annoying when they activate accidentally based on where you leave the
mouse.

The right way to do this is either on the on the side with the regular comments
and/or in the sidebar.

In the new customize dialog many functions on the left hand display the same
description: "Customises and saves current menu layouts as well as creates new
menus." This is the case for the zoom functions 150%, 200%, 50% and 75%, for
all functions starting with "line", for two of the three functions named "left"
and many more.
6.0.3.1 shows the same behavior, although I can only see it in german, for I do
not know how to install additional languages using Separate Install GUI.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 78916] Custom page size missing from print dialog

2018-04-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=78916

Oh, it gets worse. I have a label printer. The OS page setup / print dialogs
(Linux Gnome) display the available label sizes (from the remote printer's PPD,
I presume). LO, on the other hand, only shows its standard paper sizes even
when I select this printer in File / Printer Settings… . It's simply not
reasonable to force the user to manually enter custom page sizes or workaround
the problem via PDFs, when the OS affords reasonable page sizes to any program
that cares to ask.

Using the OS page setup and print dialog boxes is not a "stopgap measure". It's
the only sane way to handle printing. The times where the OS dialog was so
unuseable and/or inadequate that you had no choice but invent your own are
gone.

As it is now, my printer is unuseable with LO. :-(

Seems i was mistaken and it does still happen.

steps:
1. open a document with the sidebar partially open (just the buttons showing)
2. open a new writer file and buttons appear in sidebar
3. close new writer file and close opened document to land and start center
4. reopen opened document
5. open a new writer file and buttons arent appearing in sidebar
6. insert a bullet point and then buttons will appear

Is there any work to do in help pages?

In
https://help.libreoffice.org/latest/en-US/text/swriter/guide/protection.html?&DbPAR=WRITER&System=WIN
it's clear with "Protection is not intended to be an information security
protection, it is a switch to prevent accidental changes." and in the "Insert
Section" dialog window it's correctly named "Write protection".

Only at
https://help.libreoffice.org/latest/en-US/text/swriter/01/04020100.html?&DbPAR=WRITER&System=WIN
there is room for improvement (maybe with the identical note as in the other
help page).

An issue I found is that clicking at the Help button in the "Insert Section"
dialog isn't loading the correct help page but the start help page.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116890] Firebird: empty columns gone with prepared statement

2018-04-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116890

On pc Debian x6-64 with master sources updated today, I could reproduce this.
I noticed that in
/home/julien/lo/libreoffice/connectivity/source/drivers/firebird/ResultSetMetaData.cxx,
connectivity::firebird::OResultSetMetaData::getColumnName, I could already
retrieve "CONSTANT" so I think it seems to come from firebird engine. But
perhaps I'm wrong.
I also noticed the difference between sqlname and aliasname for CONSTANT, eg:

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116908] New: LibreOffice saves CSVs with \n line endings, in violation of RFC-4180

2018-04-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116908

Bug ID: 116908
Summary: LibreOffice saves CSVs with \n line endings, in
violation of RFC-4180
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.4.5.1 release
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Chart
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: rsim...@gmail.com

Description:
CSV files saved by Calc on *nix systems save with line feeds all by their
lonesome. From https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc4180:

"Each record is located on a separate line, delimited by a line break (CRLF)."

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Enter some data in a new Calc document, or open any spreadsheet containing
static data on a single sheet.
2. Save as CSV.

Actual Results:
The resulting CSV file's line breaks consist of LF characters.

Expected Results:
The resulting CSV file's line breaks consist of CRLF sequences.

Reproducible: Always

Can confirm that format brush and copy-and-paste now work as expected with:

Version: 6.1.0.0.alpha0+
Build ID: f3e8d0fb317090aade384784a1e16a8c8afe3437
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 4.4; UI render: default; VCL: gtk2;
TinderBox: Linux-rpm_deb-x86_64@70-TDF, Branch:master, Time:
2018-03-22_08:34:58
Locale: de-DE (de_DE.UTF-8); Calc: group

I expect that it has been fixed by the patch of Comment 16.
