[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 122845] New: Editing: "Illustration " not shown in entries in Tables of Figures
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=122845 Bug ID: 122845 Summary: Editing: "Illustration " not shown in entries in Tables of Figures Product: LibreOffice Version: 6.1.3.2 release Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: plixp...@yahoo.de Description: In Table of Figures the lines referring to illustrations only show the names of the illustrations, but not the "Illustration " in front of these names. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Insert an image in a new, empty .odt document 2. Right-click the image in the .odt document, in the context menu open the "Properties" dialog and enter a name for the image in the "Name" field on the "Options" tab. 3. Right-click the image again, then go to "Insert caption" in the context menu, enter a caption in the "Insert Caption" window and select "illustration" in the "Category" field. The image has a caption below the image with the following words "Illustration 1: " 4. Apply CTRL+ENTER 5. On the newly created page, create a Table of Figures. In the "Table of Contents, Index or Bibliography" window select "Object names" on the "Type" tab. Actual Results: In the Table of Figures, a line has been created below its heading. This line only contains the name of the image/illustration, but this line misses the word "Illustration 1" in front of the name of the image/illustration. Expected Results: The line below the heading of the Table of Figures should show the following words: "Illustration 1: " Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: Yes Additional Info: -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 122824] Main LibreOffice MSI Package should be compiled with external .cab file to reduce installation size requirements
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=122824 Mike Kaganski changed: What|Removed |Added Status|UNCONFIRMED |RESOLVED Resolution|--- |WONTFIX --- Comment #4 from Mike Kaganski --- Hi! Although I understand the rationale behind the proposal, unfortunately, this request should not be implemented. The three links mentioned in comment 0, that relate to technologies used for chained installs, all relate to different technologies: 1. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/desktop/Msi/multiple-package-installations This is about "Multiple-Package installations", a technology that is explicitly marked incompatible with Windows Server with RDP (a scenario quite common among users of LibreOffice). It requires to create an executable that will be embedded inside the main MSI, which will provide a complex functionality required for complex transactional processing. And while the mentioned problems limit compatibility and increase maintenance cost, it's unclear how to make all this packaged into a single download (the documentation only mentions packaging the installer functions, which is different from packaging MSIs; and if MSIs were packaged inside the primary MSI, then it's unclear how they would be split from their CABs), unless a bootstrap used (see #3 below), which would increase complexity and maintenance cost even more. Since this would require a bootstrap anyway, I would dismiss this approach from the beginning. To mention one last concert with this approach, I'm not sure that this will not *increase* the total disk cost, because Windows Installer would need to cache both original MSI, and embedded MSI. 2. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/desktop/Msi/concurrent-installations This is marked "Deprecated"; "Do not use concurrent installations to install products that are intended to be released to the public". And see the last remark to #1 wrt size savings doubts. 3. http://wixtoolset.org/documentation/manual/v3/bundle/ WIX' Burn is an EXE which packs some other files (possibly including MSIs) inside, like a self-extracting ZIP, with advanced installer-related capabilities. This is absolutely like LibreOffice was packaged before 3.5.Using this increases complexity for corporate deployments, since this would require system administrators who want to deploy LO in AD domains using GPO to extract the contents, and GPOs would be non-trivial, if working at all; and increases maintenance cost. I'm not sure if this was the reason for our move at the time of 3.5 (Andras is already in CC, so he can clarify or correct me if I'm wrong), but IMO (as an ex-sysadmin with AD domains experience) that alone is a serious problem to avoid reverting to .EXE-based installer. I don't mention an option to provide simple ZIPs with split installers inside, because that brings additional complexity to end users (non-corporate), and an option for providing different packages for different scenarios (because that would increase maintenance cost for TDF tremendously). I close this WONTFIX because of the explained problems of the approach. Of course, you are welcome to continue discussion here or in development mailing list. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

The text from the manual: You can separate the date elements with a slash (/) or a hyphen (–) or use text, for example 10 Oct 2012. The date format automatically changes to the selected format used by Calc. If I enter using mm/dd/ or /mm/dd the data type is date. This also corresponds to: Tools > Options > Language Settings > Languages > Date acceptance patterns Note: Order of mm, dd, is important. Even though -mm-dd does not appear in the list, if I click Help from this page: Additionally to the date acceptance patterns defined here, every locale accepts input in an ISO 8601 Y-M-D pattern, and since LibreOffice 3.5 that also leads to the -MM-DD format being applied. Syntax: Y means year, M means month, and D means day, regardless of localization. However, the text says the format 10 Oct 2012 is valid. When I type 10 Oct 2012 the data type is string not date. Unless I'm missing something, I think the "or use text, for example 10 Oct 2012." needs to be removed. The Help text for “Creating Numbered or Bulleted Lists as You Type” says how to create lists but not how to navigate between levels. That Help entry links to "Numbering and Numbering Styles" and "Format - Bullets and Numbering". Help for "Numbering and Numbering Styles" says only how to *increase* the numbering level (click in front of the paragraph, then press the Tab key) but does not say how to *decrease* the level. Help for "Format - Bullets and Numbering" has nothing directly useful to discover how to decrease the numbering level. Experimentally, the "Demote Level" button in the Bullets & Numbering toolbar works. I'm sure it is documented somewhere, just not anywhere users will find when starting from Automatic Numbering. Help for Automatic Numbering should directly or by reasonably-direct linkage say how to navigate levels when using automatic numbering. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=122841 Bug ID: 122841 Summary: [UI] Dotted line cell border rendered incorrectly onscreen Product: LibreOffice Version: 6.0.6.2 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: trivial Priority: medium Component: Calc Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: strata_ran...@hotmail.com Description: I use dotted borders frequently in my spreadsheets, but the 6.x releases aren't rendering them correctly on my screen; previous versions (e.g: LO 5.4.x) rendered them fine, and other border types appear to render more or less* correctly. This seems to be a screen rendering bug only; cell borders render correctly when (e.g.) exported to PDF (but I have no need of that, so...) . Steps to Reproduce: Format any range of cells with the dotted border style. Actual Results: Dotted cell borders (and vertical i.e. left/right borders in particular) appear to alternate with a cycle of about 2/3 solid 1/3 dotted (the exact pattern seen may vary with zoom level). Expected Results: Dotted borders should render consistently for the given zoom level -- e.g. 100% zoom should render cleanly alternating pixels for that border. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: I said "more or less" because the border preview (Format > Cells... > Border) also rendered several more border types incorrectly -- but on the actual screen (at 100% zoom) only dotted borders appear affected. This seems to occur regardless of whether hardware acceleration and/or openGL were enabled in the config. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 122840] New: Nothing in Help for "Increase Ident" (and possibly other tooltip phrases)
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=122840 Bug ID: 122840 Summary: Nothing in Help for "Increase Ident" (and possibly other tooltip phrases) Product: LibreOffice Version: 6.3.0.0.alpha0+ Master Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Documentation Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: jim.av...@gmail.com CC: olivier.hal...@documentfoundation.org Description: In Writer, there is a button in the Formatting toolbar which displays "Increase Indent" when you hover the mouse over it (tool tip). But "Increase Indent" does not work as a search key in Help. Ideally tool-tip texts should be chosen to be things which work as keys into the Help system (or provide some other way to get context-sensitive help for any button or icon). Suggestion: Make a QA test which extracts all tooltip texts and verifies that they work as keys into the Help index. This would flush out such problems. I'm assuming of course that Help exists for every feature which has a tooltip. P.S. What led me to this is I was trying to find out how to access the "Increase Indent" feature through the menu system, e.g. in case the Formatting toolbar is not being displayed. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open Writer 2. View->Toolsbars->Formatting enabled (if necessary) 3. Hover mouse over the increase-indent button icon 4. Help->LibreOffice[Dev] Help 5. Type the tooltip text into the search box Actual Results: Nothing found Expected Results: Finds help for the "Increase Indent" feature connected to the button Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: Version: 6.3.0.0.alpha0+ Build ID: b8e450a54936560cdac00ab4c70ef80c20cfaf99 CPU threads: 12; OS: Linux 4.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3; TinderBox: Linux-rpm_deb-x86_64@86-TDF, Branch:master, Time: 2019-01-18_06:04:42 Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI-Language: en-US Calc: threaded -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

I even tried to disable auto-correct thinking that was the culprit. In a html file, whenever I have a two (or more) spaces before between non-white text Libreoffice removes one of them, without notice of even showing of doing so. Even if is the only change to the document to add the second space and on exit Libreoffice prompts to save the change is not retained. It's always rejected silently. Which is horrible. It shows something and something else happens. (Actually it always reduces the number of spaces to one no matter how many I have) Example: "ffmpeg -i -acodec [...]" I leave two spaces after -i where the input file of the command line goes, so that I could drag them after pasting the command line into a command windows. There's no way in hell the two spaces are retained in the saved file save. Whenever I open the file only one space is there. As far as I know this happened with all versions of Libreoffice I ever used. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 122750] Why was SVM removed from Export?
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=122750 Frank Zimmerman changed: What|Removed |Added Resolution|--- |WORKSFORME Status|NEW |RESOLVED --- Comment #4 from Frank Zimmerman --- Regina, Thanks for the detailed explanation. I have tested out the options you mention, and they DO work. Probably the best step in my case is to do: 1. In LO Draw: Ctrl-A to select the whole drawing 2. Right-click, Convert->to Metafile 3. Ctrl-C to copy the drawing 4. In LO Writer: Ctrl-V to paste the drawing. This transfers the SVM file (created in Step 2) into the Writer document, and saves me all the export/import to/from non-perfect formats. And, by unzipping the Draw file resulting from Step 2, or the Writer file resulting from Step 4, I can get to the SVM if I need it. So thanks very much for the solution. I have to say though, that in the bug you mentioned, removing SVM was not part of the original proposition, but added by someone as a side-comment. It's a shame it was not kept, as it is a reliable format for transferring between LO components. I also question the philosophy of your statement, "Format SVM is a undocumented, proprietary format, and such should not be used for storing." We, the end-user, should not use it, but the program uses it internally? Why shouldn't we use it, if it works better than any other export format? It may not be apparent to all end-users that you can do the "convert to metafile, copy/paste, instead". https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=122488 --- Comment #4 from William Gathoye --- @BogdanB It seems there is a misunderstanding here. I mean the current icons are not easily distinguishable between the version adding a column to the left and the icon adding a column to the right. This is especially true with hidpi screen on portable computer using LibreOffice with the small icons variant sets. This is why I was proposing to put the darker columns more at the left for the icon adding a column at the left. The same logic applies for the right, but in reverse order for obvious reasons.
