https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92778 --- Comment #13 from QA Administrators --- Dear Chris Cameron, To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice. Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 129508] New: Severe clipboard issues
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129508 Bug ID: 129508 Summary: Severe clipboard issues Product: LibreOffice Version: 6.3.3.2 release Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: LibreOffice Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: i...@billiotenglish.com This bug affects Writer, Draw, Calc, and Impress. This bug affects BOTH LO 6.3 and 6.2 on Ubuntu 19.10. Tested and confirmed on multiple machines. This bug affects only 6.3 and not 6.2 on Ubuntu 18.04. Tested and confirmed on multiple machines. This bug affects only 6.3 and not 6.2 on Windows. Tested and confirmed and confirmed on multiple machines. How bug works: Copy something. Paste it somewhere. The first time will be fine. Copy a second thing. Attempt to paste it. Expected result: the second item will be pasted correctly. What actually happens: 1: nothing 2: the first thing is pasted again as if the second thing were not copied 3: when the first thing was a picture or other graphical element it will paste the first again but it will be messed up. Example, a textbox with text in it will become just a blue square. Several pictures or shapes copied as a group will be pasted as a broken blue thing that can't be edited. Tables will paste as blue squares that again can't be entered or edited. On Ubuntu 19.10 using Libreoffice 6.2 these bugs can be sometimes avoided by exclusively using keyboard shortcuts and not the right click on the mouse or drop down menu from edit in the software. Any mixing of keyboard shortcuts with either mouse right click menu or dropdown menu will almost always cause the bug. Right clicking with the mouse or using the drop down menu will almost always cause the bug but perhaps a little less often than mixing. Exclusively using keyboard shortcuts doesn't work with LO 6.3 on either Ubuntu or Windows but will seem to fix the problem on Ubuntu using 6.2. Another way to get around the problem in 6.3 is copy every thing that needs to be pasted two or three times. Example: Copy item one and then paste will work fine. Copy item two. Attempt to paste will cause either nothing to happen, item one to be pasted a second time, or a very broken version of item one to be pasted that can potentially corrupt the save file. New pattern (which isn't friendly to office workers): Copy item one and paste. Item 1 will paste just fine. Copy item 2. Then copy item 2 a second time. Just to be sure, copy item 2 a third time. Then paste item 2 and finally item 2 will paste correctly. Repeat multiple copies before pasting for EVERY SINGLE THING that needs to by copied and pasted. There are reports that Ubuntu 19.10 is having copy and paste issues with multiple applications such as Thunderbird mail and firefox browswer. The testing I have done shows that the only application affected by this particular bug is Libreoffice. On the machines I take care of Thunderbird and Firefox both work fine on 19.10 with no copy paste related issues. Also, this bug in Libreoffice 6.3 affects not only Ubuntu 19.10 but also 18.04 and Windows 10. On both 18.04 and Windows 10 using LO 6.2 the bug is not present but on both systems using LO 6.3 the bug is present. In Ubuntu 19.10 the bug is present in both 6.2 and 6.3. I hope that gives someone enough information to begin to track down the bug and get it fixed. Libreoffice is by far the best office software for our workloads and I'd like to be able to ask my staff to use it with confidence. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=78840 m.a.riosv changed: What|Removed |Added Resolution|--- |WONTFIX Status|NEW |RESOLVED --- Comment #5 from m.a.riosv --- Thanks for the hints Mike. I use REGEX function, in which, (?i) can be used in the regex pattern to change sensitive case as default. The count can be done with REGEX() but long from to be easy, as I know not inside COUNTIF, at least SUMPRODUCT or a matrix, and some more function to analyze the REGEX result. I don't like the situation, the same regex pattern should work equal every where on the whole LibreOffice. But here we are and as Eike commented in tdf#113977 it's hard to change, specially by backward incompatibilities. Of course I don't like new options, we have already a lot of them, and many users don't expend neither a minute to review them, how the world goes. Sure there more needed enhancements to develop, so I think it's better for now to close as wontfix. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 129506] New: Copy/Paste or Cut/Paste unpredictable
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129506 Bug ID: 129506 Summary: Copy/Paste or Cut/Paste unpredictable Product: LibreOffice Version: 6.2.8.2 release Hardware: All OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: andrehasek...@netscape.net Description: This is a continuation of e.g. bugs 57147, 128853, 129291, but here I consider only Copy/Paste or Cut/Paste within the same LibreOffice Writer document. LibreOffice Still Writer, Version 6.2.8.2, running under ArchLinux (LibreOffice Arch Linux Build ID: 6.2.8-3). LibreOffice Fresh Writer, Version 6.3.4.2.0+ running under Arch Linux distribution (LibreOffice Arch Linux Build ID: 6.3.4-1). It is completely unpredictable when Copy/Paste or Cut/Paste succeeds or fails, but in any case, after a few attempts it definitely fails. So, below I will suggest a procedure, but you may have to repeat parts of the procedure before you see that the Copy/Paste or Cut/Paste fails. Consider the attached document. Let's start with a piece of text. Copy/Paste or Cut/Paste a piece of text. For a document freshly loaded from disk, this usually succeeds. Now, either save or don't save the document (eventually, please try both possibilities). Then, Copy/Paste or Cut/Paste another piece of text. Usually, upon this second paste you will see that not the piece of text you think just copied or cut to the clipboard, but instead, the previously pasted text is now pasted again. This erroneous second paste occurs rather consistently, but otherwise please try a third piece of text. Do the same with images and frames. Please, primarily do the Cut/Paste because that is what I normally do. When the Paste goes wrong with images and frames is even less predictable, but please try a few times with different images and frames (with me, the problem occurs after I Cut/Paste an image, save the document and and then Cut/Paste another image, but sometimes the paste failure occurs upon a third Cut/Paste). This is hopelessly irritating when you do this sort of work in a production environment. In my environment I have to do several Cut/Pastes of text as well as images within the same document. The issue exists for a while now. Sorry, I can't say when I first saw it. You live with it, until your frustration drives you write a bug report. Does not occur with an old LibreOffice 5 running under Windows XP. If you think it has something to do with the particular document appended to this bug report, please let me know, I will send you other documents. Steps to Reproduce: 1.See description above 2. 3. Actual Results: See description above Expected Results: Copy and/or Paste does not work. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: Attached document. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116399 --- Comment #12 from Telesto --- Same reason I created all those reports and duped them to bug 112989. The new text layout engine removed the shortcuts for latin script which causing a regression from User POV. Printing and exporting Latin documents is terrible slow compared to LibreOffice 5.3 with the Old engine See bug 112989 comment 24: "Any meaningful comparison should use Arabic, Indic or other complex scripts. The old layout engines had a shortcut for Latin and similar scripts that did very simplistic and fast layout, the new engine does not have such shortcuts in principle. This is not to say our text layout is sub-optimal, it is very sub-optimal actually, but that is not a regression. It has always been sub-optimal, we were just lying by handling Latin in a special way." https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development/Budget2018 under the heading Text layout performance "Our text layout performance is abysmal, all over the code base it is assumed that shaping text is cheap and we can do it over and over again. Want to measure the text? Shape it and discard the output afterwards. Want to measure part of the same text? Shape again. Want to find line breaks? Shape again. Want to finally draw it? Shape again. This might have been cheap for Latin script in the olden days when all we did is query font cmap table and put glyphs next to each other, which is not the case anymore and never been the case for more involved scripts. We need to work on this, and there are many possibilities; retaining shaping results much longer, improving the wasteful OutputDevice API, caching etc." -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 129419] Macro Editor Basic IDE causes "s" characters to be inserted randomly into code when using Ctrl-S custom save key combination
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129419 --- Comment #5 from tfab...@gmail.com --- I use Ctrl-S because I am a software developer who needs to switch between Mac and Windows constantly during the day. Remapping common key shortcuts is the only way I can remain sane as I switch between the operating systems. I'm trying to use LibreOffice on both platforms, so that I am not chained to Microsoft Office. This issue is one of the sticking points that makes it difficult to make the transition. The ability to remap the keys is not a subversion of the operating system, it is a supported feature built into the Mac OS, designed specifically for situations like this. No other application on the Mac has this problem with Ctrl-S. I can remap Ctrl-S in every other application on the Mac OS, this is the only program that gave me this particular trouble. Command-S doesn't have this issue, true. But even without any key remapping, CTRL-S shouldn't cause the letter S to be typed into the macro editor window no matter what. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 129422] Suppress listing of parent styles in the Find and Replace dialog
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129422 --- Comment #5 from sdc.bla...@youmail.dk --- (In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #4) > The search dropdown should list only those > styles that are used in the document and not (unused) parents. Sounds right. Consider to rename top the level “Default Paragraph Style” One reason is that there are also “Default Style” for Character Styles and Page Styles. As far as I can tell, there is not a “super” Default Style (that links together the Paragraph, Character, and Page styles together in a single “Default Style). Another reason is to highlight/emphasize that all the other paragraph styles are “built” on top of the “Default Paragraph Style” Maybe this point is also relevant to the "Standard" discussion in bug #128469. For example, if there was a "Default Paragraph Style" or a "Standard Paragraph Style", then it might make sense for the button in the Paragraph Style Dialog box to be "Default" or "Standard" (to be consistent with the name of this style). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 129497] No explanation of "Standard" and "Reset" buttons in Paragraph Style Dialog box
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129497 --- Comment #1 from sdc.bla...@youmail.dk --- The "Standard" and "Reset" buttons appear for all the tabs in the Paragraph Style dialog box. It would be useful for the documentation to note whether they apply only for the current tab, or would be applied across settings in all the tabs. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 128469] PARAGRAPH STYLE DIALOG: "Reset" and "Standard" buttons: confusing names
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128469 --- Comment #15 from sdc.bla...@youmail.dk --- Not finding documentation in the help, and before finding this bug, I made some experiments to figure out how "reset" and "standard" might work. Based on that experience, plus reading the discussion, here are a few comments. 1. Use-case for Reset: Because there is a preview function in the side bar, it is quite practical to (for example) change the font in the default style and see the effects in the different styles. And still be able to "reset" back to where you started (without having to close and reopen the window). 2. Note that LO Writer 6.0 Guide (p. 192) says: "If you want to reset the properties of a child style to that of the parent style, click the Standard button located at the bottom of each Paragraph and Character style dialog." (I could not see that the guide discussed the "reset" button, but maybe this sentence shows a "natural" expectation that "Standard" resets -- which suggests a value in not using both "reset" and "standard" -- or a need to change the Guide.) 3. "Undo" is not such a bad alternative for "reset" for it functions like a Ctrl-Z (or users will just have to learn what "reset" does -- if is gets documented.) 4. About "Standard" vs. "Use Parent" >From a user perspective, I would propose: use "Standard" if it means "the setting goes back to the "factory setting" (i.e, the way a fresh LO installation would have it.) But if the user can change the setting of the "parent" style (if I have understood the implications of comment #10, then I would propose "revert to parent" (or if too long, then "Use Parent" might be ok) 5. As pointed out in comment #13, these buttons appear for all the tabs in the dialog box. I have not tested them, but would they apply only to settings in a tab? or to all the settings across all the tabs? This might also be relevant in the documentation. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 129219] Further refinement of OpenType/Graphite Font features in the “Character” dialogue
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129219 --- Comment #17 from Tobias Hemm --- (In reply to V Stuart Foote from comment #16) I understand. It doesn’t make sense to implement this with another tab, if there is more than one possible 'font' choice. Than this is off the table. But anyway, I’m out here. I am not willing to endlessly discuss this and try to convince you of something you don’t care about anyway. I’ve done what I could: I’ve created images and tables, I’ve explained and clarified. If you are still not of the opinion that my mockup is better that the current stew, I don’t know how to help you. At some point it’s enough. I’m not willing to repeat this for decades. Do what I suggested ... or let it be. It’s not important enough for me to continue from here. If you need further information, just see my former comments. Thanks for your time. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 129503] New: mail merge broken; fields are not populated with database records at all
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129503 Bug ID: 129503 Summary: mail merge broken; fields are not populated with database records at all Product: LibreOffice Version: 6.3.3.2 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Linux (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: val.kul...@gmail.com Description: Invoking the "Mail Merge Wizard" does not populate fields in a document anymore. On clicking "Finish" button at step 4 nothing happens. Viewing data sources (Ctrl-Shift-F4) works normally. I can review my data sources, browse database records, view the actual data in database records and use drag-and-drop to insert database fields into the current Write document. I tried disconnecting a data source and re-creating a new data source from scratch. I tried two different data sources, one from an existing LibreOffice Base document with queries linked to an external PostgreSQL database, and one from a newly created LibreOffice Calc ODS spreadsheet. The result was the same: at the stage where fields in a Writer document must be populated with records from a data source, nothing happens. I tried using the mail merge function in 6.3.3.2 and then in 6.3.4.2. The result was the same. In conclusion, the mail merge function in the current LibreOffice release is completely broken unfortunately. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create a data source: Tools -> Address Book Source -> Address Data Source -> follow the wizard to create a new datasource (for example, using an existing spreadsheet). 2. Open the Data Sources pane: Ctrl-Shift-F4 and drag and drop fields from the chosen datasource into the current document to prepare the document for the Mail Merge Wizard. 3. Use Tools -> Mail Merge Wizard to populate fields in the current document with records from the chosen data source. Actual Results: Nothing happens. The fields in the Writer document are not populated with records from the data source. Expected Results: The fields in the Writer documents must be populated with records from the data source. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No OpenGL enabled: Yes Additional Info: -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 129492] Similarity search not clear
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129492 --- Comment #1 from Eike Rathke --- Maybe this can shed some light: The algorithm used is a Weighted Levenshtein Distance (including wildcards ? and *). The mathematical definition of the real WLD means EITHER maximum X replacements OR Y characters shorter OR Z characters longer, where a mix of operations is allowed but each operation draws from a shared 100% pool of operations. The relaxed (UI Combined, internal SplitCount) mode allows maximum X replacements AND/OR Y character shorter AND/OR Z characters longer. Only insertions and deletions share one pool from which they draw, replacements use a second independent pool. This is more what a user expects if not familiar with WLD.
