Sorry. Don't have MS Word, only LO.
When the pandemic is over I will go the Library and take a screen shot. Could
be an error in the IEEE doc, but this file is a template for all conference
papers so I'd thought they would have corrected something like this.

This is how the code looks like in this document.

Do not mix complete spellings

“webers/m2”. Spell out units when they
appear in text: “. . . a few  Do not

So, I consider that here they have simple text and NOT a superscript.
Waiting for a printscreen showing that other programms shows there a
superscript. Or another prove that there is not a mistake in their document.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 133131] Memory should be freed sooner after closing a document with tracked changes on (takes a minute or so)

2020-05-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon

(In reply to Telesto from comment #2)

To clarify: trying to lower memory consumption is a great things itself. If we
can change memory requirememns, e.g. using more efficient structures etc, that
would be most welcome.

However, the specific issue was not filed against *too much memory was required
for a specific task*; it was about the *timing* how the memory was freed after
initial allocation and closing the data. This aspect should not be generally
considered a bug, unless there is a substantial evidence that it causes real
problems. Of course, if memory is not freed at all, that should be considered a
bug, though; again, I say about dynamics here, when it *is* released, but not
at the moment when you expected, which means it is handled correctly, but using
a strategy different from your expectations.

I hope it makes my response clearer. Sorry if I wasn't specific enough.

Closing NOTABUG for the time being; of course feel free to reopen in the event
that you see a real problem caused by the behaviour you reported. Thank you!

In Writer it's easy to see the difference between background color (for a cell)
and highlight color (just for text).

I am not sure on Calc. But I supose on the same logic that background is for
cell, and highlight is for text in the mean of being different like I found
here:
https://help.libreoffice.org/6.4/ro/text/scalc/guide/cellstyle_minusvalue.html?DbPAR=CALC#bm_id3147434

One problem that I found on Version: 6.4.3.2 when searching for info for your
bug is that F3 is not saved as a shortcut.

I confirm your bug, the shortcuts doesn't do anything here.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 125428] Huge ram amount used not freed

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=125428

(In reply to Telesto from comment #24)

Hi!
Although this might need further analysis, I agree that not releasing memory
*at all* after an operation (as 7-8 from c#14 might hint) must be treated as a
bug. Yet, it needs investigating: is that really not released e.g. on timer? is
sorting repeatedly on the same data (e.g. asc->desc->asc->...) produce higher
levels after the spike each time? etc.

But if it's released subsequently, without unloading documents or exiting
program, then IMO it needs much more substantial ground to be called a bug.
That would mean proper memory handling, and only if that results in actual
problems, the strategy might need to be revised.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 118625] AutoFilter is lost when selecting blank values with no header

still an issue in 7.0.0.0.a1+,

afaics it's not 'the autofilter' being lost but 'only' it's representation on
screen (the UI),

as well the dropdown buttons are gone as the option looks
unchecked, but the filtering is! applied correctly, and if you click again on
the supposedly switched off option autofilter the filtration is removed in the
same manner as if you had the buttons visible and unfiltered using them,

(the option and the checkbox for it's state on/off
(a real checkbox in linux, i had difficulties to spot it in windows, indicator
for on/off is the background of the filter symbol becoming a little darker) are
a special issue, my impression is that they are only checked for filtering
ranges 'with headers', and stay unchecked for 'without'? in lin as well as in
win, intentional?)

or with you get back the unfiltered state
with autofilter applied and dropdown buttons visible,

note that the disappearing of the dropboxes doesn't depend on filtering for
'empty', they are also gone sometimes when you filter for one of the random
values, and mostly after replacing the rand() values with fixed values,

note that the autofilter reacts differently depending on whether you activate
it:
- with or without a header row (mentioned in the OP),
- on an automatically selected range or have previously defined a ,
- also differentiates between with or without column
headers, see options,
- it even makes a difference if an automatically defined area has ever been
used on a sheet, my experience is that the 'anonymouns database area' is never
deleted but only changed after it's first use, and it partly influences the
filters operations,
- the filter also acts differently if you filter or sort, i have even seen the
dropdown buttons from the top row appearing in cells somewhere down in the list
 after sort,

when working on this area one should pay attention to a consistent user
interface,

it might be relevant when programming to note #132488, different results before
and after save-load cycles can be quite confusing ...

my testing with:
Version: 7.0.0.0.alpha1
Build ID: 6a03b2a54143a9bc0c6d4c7f1...
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 4.19; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3;
Locale: de-DE (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded
and with the same ver. for win

Dear pjotr99,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 133136] New: "color" commands don't seem to do anything, can't assign keyboard shortcut to the background palette

2020-05-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=133136

Bug ID: 133136
Summary: "color" commands don't seem to do anything, can't
assign keyboard shortcut to the background palette
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.4.3.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ddascalescu+freedesk...@gmail.com

Created attachment 160960
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=160960=edit
Pressing the shortcut key for most "color" commands does nothing

The screenshot is pretty explanatory. I'm trying to assign a keyboard shortcut
to changing the background color of a cell. I search for all "color" commands
in Customize -> Keyboard, but none seem to do anything when I press the
shortcut key.

The only one that brings up a dialog is Font color, but I don't want to change
the font color, I want to change the background color directly, by dropping
down the palette from under the Background Color toolbar icon.

Also, what's the difference between "Background color" and "Highlight color"?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 133020] Problems rendering SVG files

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=133020

@BogdanB, in your second video, you opened the original Visio file: it's
rendered correctly, as it's rendered correctly on my computer. My issue only
concerns the SVG file.

I noticed that, when you previewed the SVG file, it wasn't rendered correctly,
so maybe when Drawio converts Visio files into SVG files, it produces bad
files.

Actually, I've just opened my SVG file in Inkscape and it's not rendered
correctly either.

Correct rendering of the SVG File

This is a screenshot to show how the SVG file should be rendered. It was

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 133020] Problems rendering SVG files

2020-05-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=133020

Hi, @BogdanB,

Thank you for testing the issue.

1. In your screenshot, the SVG file is rendered correctly.

2. In your video, the SVG is not rendered correctly. If you compare the
screenshot and the video, you'll notice the difference. When I send this
comment, I'll upload my screenshot of the correct rendering, obtained by
opening not the SVG file, but the original Visio file.

3. About my steps, I just click, in Draw, on File > Open, but if I click on
Insert > Page, as you did, I still have the same issue.

4. I need to make a correction. I said above that, on my dad's computer, my SVG
file was rendered correctly, but I was wrong. By mistake, I opened the Visio
file, instead of the VSG file. Therefore, the issues are the same on both
computers.

5. This makes me wonder: when you made the screenshot (not the video), are you
sure you opened the SVG file and not the Visio file?

I'm not an expert on memory management.. Which part is done by the programmer,
which part by compiler and the OS. So it's hard to look for something
'workable'.
However, Calc is really loving to consume memory.. So it's not hard to use up 8
GB of ram (the limit for me, less actually). And if it loves to hold on to it
for a while it can be come unworkable..

Why it uses so much memory is a mystery at itself.. The memory footprint of
Excel doing the same thing is substantial lower .. Again.. not qualified for
comparison..

But feel free to close.. the only thing I observe is that closing a document
doesn't release the memory for quite some time for a - for me - unknown reason.

In this case default is Liberation Serif and Example is Liberation Mono. So,
you can not see the difference. Try with another character style. It will work.

I would say the OpenGL problems are duplicate to bug 129898. The behavior will
be better, when in version 7.0 the rendering engine "Skia" is provided. You can
try it already, see
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/GetInvolved#Test_Pre-releases.

I cannot reproduce step 6. After step 5 all drawings are erased automatically,
no drawings visible in the slide pane. So in step 6 there exists no drawing,
that can be erased.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 133133] New: Direct formatting combined with styles confusion

2020-05-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=133133

Bug ID: 133133
Summary: Direct formatting combined with styles confusion
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.0.0.0.alpha1+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: tele...@surfxs.nl

Description:
Direct formatting combined with styles confusion

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the attached file
2. Be a Benjamin -> Disable bold using direct formatting
3. Go to Sidebar -> Character style
4. Right click example -> Modify
5. Change the font to Italic/Bold & Press OK
6. Notice the Bold Formatting being disabled
7. Select ABCDEF & enable BOLD (CTRL+B)
8. Go to Sidedebar -> Character style
9. Right click example -> Modify
10. Change the font Regular & Press OK

The easy way out the mixture; select a different style and back.. but not a
'nice' solution.

Font is still bold..

Menu Style -> Strong Emphasis (really didn't consider it a font style (managed
in the sidedeck; more a 'quick formatting' setting. Again.. A benjamin
speaking.. not everybody reads the manual :-). Or the license agreement when
installing software..

Actual Results:
Styles mixed with direct formatting can be a source of trouble and confusion

Expected Results:
Style causing highlighting of direct formatting buttons.. bit of tricky area.

Options:
* Block direct formatting of text formatting with styles (however default
paragraph style is also a style...)
* Modify the icons of the formatting toolbar if a character style/paragraph is
involved (the default character can't be modified; so no issue there.. However
the default paragraph style shouldn't be editable in this case either. It's the
direct formatting style :-). Or at least highlighting, font & font effects
should be disabled)
*... Other suggestions

I am very skeptic about this issue. I suspect a case when that's OS using its
own reasoning when to free its caches. OS memory management is not something an
application should tweak without a really good reason. So first of all - which
*problem* is experienced here? Some *numbers* changing in some counters in some
moments and not in other moments is not a problem by itself.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 133132] New: Split launcher shortcuts for macOS, like in Linux

2020-05-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=133132

Bug ID: 133132
Summary: Split launcher shortcuts for macOS, like in Linux
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: Mac OS X (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: jj+documentfoundation@visser.rocks

Description:
I've made separate macOS standalone launcher .app shims that launch Writer,
Impress, Draw, Math, etc., just like LibreOffice works in Linux.
They are nothing more than an Automator script that executes
`/Applications/LibreOffice.app/Contents/MacOS/soffice --writer "$@" >/dev/null
2>&1 &`
Because it supports args you can even drag files onto whichever of these .app
bundles you have on the dock, and it'll open the file in the relevant
LibreOffice program.

As one of the most oft requested features for Mac is 'can I please have a way
to separately install Writer or a way to launch the separate aspects of
LibreOffice', this should do nicely.

If wanted, now the fat binary could even be 'hidden' somewhere in the
Application Support folder, and just the shims could be placed in
/Applications.

One thing: whilst the shims can be placed anywhere, LibreOffice has to be
installed in its default location, since that is what the shell line inside the
.app shim expects.

Cheers and I hope this will be useful :)

We need also some info about your LibreOffice. Go to Help - About and copy that

Hi, I can't confirm your bug, but also I had problems with LibreOffice from
Ubuntu 20.04 repository. What I have done: I have installed LibreOffice with
.deb packages and also some AppImages of LibreOffice. So, I avoided that
version. I even uninstalled.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 133104] Text layout, multitude an outcomes

2020-05-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=133104

@Justin
Rather opportunistic: You did few sw layout changes lately .. Any knowledge
about the inner workings of anchoring of objects & lay-outing in LibreOffice
itself? More interested in some insight; not a straight away bug fix ;-)

It appears the the same anchor + same wrap is still able to produce different
results depending on object (shape/frame/image/chart etc). Example bug 133075

[In simple World I expect the position of objects to be based on shared code as
far as possible. However the behavior suggests otherwise.. ]

The issue with images (shown in this bug) can be 'masked' by checking "Keep
inside text boundaries". However the trick doesn't work for
shapes/frames/charts..

This must be noticeable in MSO import?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 131467] Positioning of mouse on "Default Button" not working with some dialogs.

Dear Buovjaga,

when launching with SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen libreoffice the problem with the
dialogs is gone. I have tested all the possibilities and the problem is not
there anymore :-)
I must say, however, that the interface does not look as nice as before.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 133129] New: UI

2020-05-17 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=133129

Bug ID: 133129
   Summary: UI
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.4.2.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: kernel.who...@gmail.com

Created attachment 160944
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=160944=edit
Double main menu in LO Writer

If the Writer is started with no documents, there is only one main menu.
Now, if a document opened, the main menu is displayed twice (please see the
enclosed screenshot). Both menus work, but the lower one behaves like in case
when a document is opened in read-only mode.

Probably it has something in common with the print preview. Every consecutive
preview use (File/Print Preview) causes that an additional menu is displayed
(thrid one in this case).

Problem doesn't occur if a document is opened by clicking it in the file
manager (in case of Ubuntu it is Caja).

Linux Ubuntu 20.04, MATE desktop, vanilla Libre Office 6.4.2.2 from Ubuntu
distribution.
