Dear Florian Bruckner,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Sure, anything can be fixed provided someone is interested in the topic and
puts the time and effort into it.

This discussion should be resumed once there is a fix, there's not much to talk

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 137810] New: You cannot change a color of chapter numbering

2020-10-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=137810

Bug ID: 137810
Summary: You cannot change a color of chapter numbering
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.4.7.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: johnsmithbeat...@gmail.com

Description:
Steps:

1. Open new document, create character style "red" for red text
2. Tools > Chapter Numbering > Add numbering to the 1st level
3. In field "Character style" select "red"
4. Click OK button.
5. Type "foo", apply "Heading 1" style, so it will become "1 foo" where "1" is
red.
5. Save and close document.

6. Open it again.
7. Rename "red" to "redaaa"
8. Save and close document.

9. Open document again. You will see that "1" is black. This is a bug.

You could try to fix it, but it won't work.

10. Open Tools > Chapter Numbering > In field "Character style" select "redaaa"
11. Save document, close it, open it again. The numbering is still black.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 50699] Template Changer: Allow ability to change a document's associated template

(In reply to Gerhard Weydt from comment #85)
> Since the extension site has been changed, the extension is available via
> https://extensions.libreoffice.org/en/extensions/show/template-changer

Thanks, Gerhard.

Just in case, for a better understanding:

1. There was an abandoned extension Template Changer by another author.

2. Because the original extension was abandoned, Gerhard created a new one,
DocumentTemplateChanger, and it was available via
https://extensions.libreoffice.org/extensions/documenttemplatechanger

3. Now Gerhard's extension changed its name back to Template Changer and it is
available under the original url.

I hope I haven't messed anything.

For a raster image inserted to Draw canvas.

At full "default" SB Deck widht, 'Effect' section of the 'Properties' deck are
fine. But the spin boxes do not shrink as the SB Deck is made narrower, hiding
the spin buttons when the deck is at its "minimum" width.

@Seth, I just read your comment at
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=137236#c11

I see you already have the concept of what makes a paragraph an outline heading
or possibly an outline content paragraph :)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 135668] [LOCALHELP] Writer: add info about submenu items for "Headings" context menu in Navigator

2020-10-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=135668

@Seth, answers to questions asked in instruction attachments with some
additional comments.

definitions:

"outline heading paragraph" is a paragraph with a style that has outline level
set to a numeric value 1-10

"outline content paragraph" is a paragraph with a style that has outline level
set to 'text' and has an outline heading paragraph somewhere previous to it.

> 1. Is it ”exhaustive”?

There is an other way to toggle outline content visibility other than the user
control, canvas buttons or Navigator context menu. Pressing ctrl key with the
mouse pointer positioned on an outline heading paragraph changes the pointer
image to a hand pointer that when left mouse clicked will toggle outline
content visibility of following outline content paragraphs until the next
outline heading paragraph. If there are sub outline level paragraphs
(paragraphs with outline level greater than the paragraph outline level clicked
on), right click will also toggle content visibility of sub levels.

On canvas outline content toggle buttons that appear in the left margin next to
outline heading paragraphs have ctrl+left and right mouse button actions that
toggle content visibility of sub outline levels.

Tooltips are displayed to aid what can be done.

> 2. Is it accurate?

If there is already a help page about how to customize, maybe a link to it with
mention of the user commands that can be added to control this feature.

'Show outline content visibility button' user command enables and disables
display of outline content visibility control button on the document canvas. '

'Toggle Outline Content Visibility' user command toggles outline content
visibility relative to cursor position.

> 2.5 How to refer to Headings category in Navigator?

A paragraph outline level is set by the applied paragraph style either by
default or explicitly. To examine the paragraph outline level, right click on a
document paragraph to access the Paragraph context menu, select Paragraph ->
Paragraph... or Paragraph -> Edit Style... then Outline and Number tab in the
dialog that appears.

Knowing Headings category entries are simply paragraphs having an outline level
set to 1-10 may be helpful to understand how the 'Headings' category in the
Navigator is populated and how to refer to the Headings category in Navigator.

Additional comments:

The steps to enable experimental features seem different on Linux than mac.
NB, have shown ”Mac” version here, but ”help” is sys-dependent, so for Win or
Unix, command sequence starts with ”Tools – Options” to open Options dialog.)
I didn't know about help being sys-dependent and was going to comment that the
sequence to follow in the image was different than what I see.

Hide followed by open seems awkward to me. Hide followed by show seems to flow
better together. Optionally fold and unfold, collapse and expand, close and
open would work.

So, I went to create a sample document showing this issue, and in the process,
discovered the cause—and how you may easily reproduce it.

If one does as I originally outlined, BUT ALSO has specified a point size for
the font in the Footnote Anchor (or Endnote Anchor) character style, then the
issue occurs! While it IS necessary to be able to change the font face in the
footnote or endnote anchor character style, as we can now, there is NO reason
to also allow one to set the font's point size in that SAME style, as doing so
overrides the normal behavior, and actually causes the issue I reported.

Therefore, I recommend either disabling the ability to specify the point size
for the specified font in the Footnote Anchor and Endnote Anchor character
styles (and only in those styles), or giving the user some warning that
applying a specified point size to the font in those anchor style may cause
improper appearance of the text.

Bottom line: not specifying, if one has then removing the specification of, the
point size for the employed font in the Footnote Anchor character style solved
my issue.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 137612] Table Rows aren't vertically centered

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=137612

Clarc changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 Status|NEEDINFO|UNCONFIRMED

> (In reply to Timur from comment #4)
Thank you for testing, there's a few misunderstandings however:

> The 10 (and the "SA, Studenten; Ein Gespräch.") isn't centered because that
> row is divided between pages.
As far as I can tell, this is not true. I'm not sure how you got that
information, but here are two reasons why it shouldn't be due to the row being
divided across pages:

1. In the exact same layout (meaning the 10-row is split between pages), I had
BOTH the 10-row and the 45-row stuck in this state. Thus, it can't be just be
the page break. (actually, the 45-row was the only off-centered one. 10 was
fine.)

2. Something to easily test:
a. Open the .odt
b. Look at the 10-row. It should be vertically misaligned.
c. Click somewhere inside the 10-row. The row should correct its alignment.
This happened without you deleting stuff. The 10-row still is split. The text
became centered though. Thus, it can't be the page-break that's responsible.

> If you delete text above, it centers.
Yes, but as shown in my previous point, this doesn't mean what it might seem to
show.

> MSO behaves the same as LO for this row.
I assume MSO means Microsoft Office? In my tests, MSO DIDN'T behave as did LO.
In MSO, the 10 actually was vertically centered. In LO, the 10 was vertically
misaligned.

> So please clarify.
Did my answers make sense?

Also, I do not support setting this to a low-priority issue. Tables morphing
behind your back isn't a minor thing to happen and it makes LibreOffice and the
files it exports seem unprofessional. (LO is amazing though, which is why this
is unfortunate)

This bug is mostly being resolved with the fixes for bug 137620.

However, if I enter a second composed character, it starts deleting items from
the front of the paragraph. I'll do a bit more debugging testing tomorrow I
hope to try to clarify exactly what is happening. It seems to only be happening
with certain three-sequence characters (like .;o to form ọ̈ )

Neat - this looks like it fixed the problem in Writer tables as well.

However, I just noticed one more problem. It ONLY seems to work on the first
document. If I close the writer document (down to the start center) and then
open up my draw test, then nothing IME happens at all. No composed character
and no deleting characters. (If I exit the program completely, then it works
again for the first document.)

It works fine if I open three documents from File - open. I can even close and
restart them as long as one if left running. It is only when dropping to the
start center that IME stuff stops.

I think the less dramatic version is fine with an addition of (may be unstable)

The following points are also true for the list box:
→ If the combo box is in the first line, it covers the line(s) below (depends
on the height of the line)
→ If the combo box somewhere in the middle of the lines, it covers the line(s)
above and the line(s) below
→ if you set the height of the lines to 0.90 cm the combo box doesn't cover the

I wouldn't have high hopes and it's not "expected for the time being".

Unless someone decides to use not just LO's own text layouting code (which uses
harfbuzz anyway, like almost everyone), but also LO's native (AKA platform
dependent) font drawing code to replace Qt's own font drawing, the only thing
to do would be fixing Qt. My personal target is Qt only, but all patches
welcome. Or on Linux to use Cairo graphics as a workaround with a little
blitting overhead.

The Qt5 VCL plugin completely relies on Qt for font handling, so it uses QFont,
QGlyphRun and QPainter::drawGlyphRun. This way it can also work on all Qt
supported platforms without any "native" code (tested once on MacOS and Win).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 137804] New: Qt5 printing (from Writer) crashes LibreOffice

2020-10-27 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=137804

Bug ID: 137804
Summary: Qt5 printing (from Writer) crashes LibreOffice
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.1.0.0.alpha0+ Master
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: graphics stack
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: glo...@fbihome.de

This might be a new or an unveiled bug since fixing bug 125234, but I didn't
test this. It was originally found when the reporter of bug 136915 tried to
print after my fix for it. I reverted that fix and found it still crashed LO
when opening the print dialog.

There is already a fix, so this is just for documentation. While I won't
backport all the fixes for bug 125234 and follow up (see bug 125234 comment
31), fixing this crash is easy enough and independent. The following text is
from the comment I planned to add to bug 136915 originally.

Guess I should have just tested printing to PDF. Interestingly it doesn't
happen when running LO in gdb. It did happen in valgrind, but that would just
spew a lot of Qt error messages, starting with:

ASSERT failure in QVector::operator[]: "index out of range", file
/usr/include/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/QtCore/qvector.h, line 431
QPainter::begin: A paint device can only be painted by one painter at a time.
QPainter::setClipRegion: Painter not active
QPainter::setPen: Painter not active
QPainter::setCompositionMode: Painter not active
QPainter::begin: A paint device can only be painted by one painter at a time.
QPainter::setClipRegion: Painter not active
QPainter::setPen: Painter not active
...

but also no valgrind backtrace :-(

So I had to stick a std::abort() into the ::Qt5Painter as a reaction to
begin(QPaintDevice *) failures, so the general KDE crash handler could collect
a backtrace for me.

But the real question is: why does LO try to layout quite a few empty strings?

Apart from frame, there's a problem of position, but let's close anyway.
I'll close as duplicate because other bug is clean and duplicate indicates a
check after the hopeful fix.
If position is not OK, it can be reconsidered again.

I could confirm the warning appears for every BLOB or CLOB field, which already
exists in a table. The new table will be saved when I click "No" to change the
field type.

It is a wrong behavior of the wizard. It should only add the new field, not
trying to change the old fields, which hasn't been changed.

Tested with LO 7.0.3.1 on OpenSUSE 15.1 64bit rpm Linux.
