Bug ID: 140812
   Summary: FILEOPEN VIEWING PRINTING: Area not fully available in
Writer
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: msdobre...@gmail.com

problematic document

I have received a file from my son's online schooling. I don't know the source,
as the teacher has downloaded it.
It appears to be a document embedded in the main document.
It displays three pages, the second one containing the document in question,
with an image of a scroll. That image is truncated or the document is not fully
visible.
I've tried in the AppImage version of LO, see the attachments.
In Google's viewer it displays properly, prints properly, but it has two pages.
In MS Word it is displayed as three pages, but it's fully visible.

This is not a valid bug report: it is filed when you know the correct existing
bug tracking this issue, and it doesn't add any useful information helping to
solve it.

My suggestion would be to add yourself to CC list of the original bug, if you
are interested in its resolution: that would notify you when it's resolved.

Thanks!

I have reproduced this in 7.0.4.6 (x64) and found the same result.
Enter .999 in one cell and .998 in another. Format to
show 7 decimal places to confirm. In another cell enter a formula to subtract
the two cells. The result is 0.000 (not 0.001) In fact it seems to be
exactly that.

I then did the same thing in Excel and initially got the same result. If I
entered the formula =(A1-A2)*1
The result changes to 0.000894. Very Interesting. Changing the formula
makes no difference in LibreOffice.

Will attach the Excel spreadsheet soon and do a bit more investigation.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 79330] FILEOPEN: DOC Bullet point (direct) formatting (e.g. highlighting) can't be unformatted without removing the bulleting

2021-03-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=79330

--- Comment #16 from Justin L  ---
If you look at the numbering list WW8Num1, you will see that level1 is assigned
to use character style WW8Num1z0. That character style has a highlight colour,
and removing it from the character style "fixes" the bullet point as expected.
So from what we can see in the UI, things seem to be correct.

So then the focus turns to the reproduce-from-scratch steps from comment 0,
which somehow got converted into character style formatting. But I can't
reproduce that in master or in 5.2 (from 2017).

So, then the focus turns to how MS Word imports these documents. In the
original file, the yellow bullet background is not seen in Word 2003, but in
the files that LO round-trips, the background is seen. Similarly, 9037 -
italics-in-para-causes-italic-numbered-list.doc from bug 108518 is not
italicized in Word 2003, but is italicized on a round-tripped file. (That is a
long way of coming to the same conclusion as comment 2 :-)

Dear bordfeldt,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

--- Comment #8 from Aron Budea  ---
This is similar to bug 113084, perhaps this one identifies the range where the
font actually changed (since in that bug report the text wasn't shown for
several versions).

I'm somewhat suspicious about this commit in the range:
https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=fab0a2c6068577081abdad90a3b1191b6fc5df29

"workaround fdo#35118 in the absence of fdo#19869"

The bug in question was reported by Caolán to fontconfig, and the title is
interesting:
"Prioritize fonts that support a territory-less language variant when no exact
language match"
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35118
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/fontconfig/fontconfig/-/issues/30

( The other referenced bug:
"fontconfig should change to BCP 47 language tags"
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=19869 )

Created attachment 170221

Testdocument with border around text range.

Open attached document. It has an image and a Math equation, both anchored 'as
character'. Notice that the border has a gap, although the padding of the box
is so large, that image and equation would fit inside the box. The border is
set in a character style.

Expected: The border is drawn without gap.

Actual: The border has a gap.

@Michael: You wrote in OFFICE-3843, that character anchored objects should be
included in the box. So this is a bug in LO or intended behavior?

OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED

Description:
Cf.
https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/41105/libreoffice-already-running-how-to-see-preview-of-recent-documents-like-startup-screen/

There's no way to get to the preview of "recent documents" without having them
all closed.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start LibreOffice: you get the preview of "recent documents"
2. Then open an existing document or create one
3. Try to open a previously edited document.

Actual Results:
The recent document list is only available as a dropdown submenu of simple
filenames

Expected Results:
The recent document list dropdown submenu should at least be poopulated with
application icons to better differentiate each documents.
An extra entry should lead to open a new preview of "recent documents" window
to let the user select visually.

A previous occurrence search is performed each time a character is erased in

Since 2 out of 3 *.docx renders don't display a border / box I'm thinking
LibreOffice ought not either?

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open up https://github.com/PHPOffice/PHPWord/files/6084147/phpword.docx in
LibreOffice
2.
3.

Actual Results:
A border / box is shown around the image

Expected Results:
I do not believe there should be a border / box around the image

Reproducible: Always

It seems to me that here is a bug: because (checked or not) `Contour of each

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 75439] Objects in header area are REALLY hard to select

2021-03-04 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=75439

--- Comment #10 from Mike Kaganski  ---
Code pointer: SwEditWin::MouseButtonDown.

Near the start of the function, starting on line 2861 [1], it checks if the
click is over the header/footer area, and if it is, a call to
rSh.ToggleHeaderFooterEdit switches to those. The check for graphic object
under the cursor happens later at line 3212 [2]. If we already switched to
header/footer, then this check will return false.

The function does a lot of stuff, and I have no idea if it is possible to
reverse the checks, or postpone the decisions. However, if this is to be fixed,
this is the place.

On pc Debian x86-64 with master sources updated today + Russian language and
Russian localization, I don't reproduce this.

On a brand new Calc file, if I type "01.03.2012" in a cell then format with
these entries:
DD  => 01 марта
D  => 1 марта
DD MMM => 01 мар
D MMM => 1 мар

 DD => марта 01
 D => марта 1
MMM DD => мар 01
MMM D => мар 1

So I never got "март".

Now I don't know Russian language so don't know what's ok or what's wrong on
these results.

I assume/speculate this being off, because lacking explanation why this makes
sense.

It has something to do with image height & paragraph distribution. Set the
image height (2) to 7 cm and everything is fine.

However I find kind of 'arbitrary to get' such big effect because of something
so small
