No objections from my side. Sounds reasonable to me and from a quick glance at
the geany source code, that seems to be just a matter of calling
'gtk_widget_set_name' for the corresponding widget:

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=114416

Dear Jim Kornelsen,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:

Thanks for re-opening the issue.

The examples I have given are the simplest, in the sense that their
hand-rolled, and has very bare essentials.

Futhermore, my use-case is unique. The converter I am using--rather the one I
am authoring and maintaining--doesn't use SDKs and relies on what XML LO
already generates and improvises on it for simplicity.

>From the "Standard Compliance" case perspective, the independently rolled
converter tests the LO in unique ways. Having the issue open, ensures that my
test case is available for someone to validate against. (Closing the issue
means that my test case would remain lost in the haystack) IOW, keep the issue
open not for the FR its making but for supplying a unique test case.

Also I have been working on my Emacs-lisp based converter close to a decade,
and I have personally felt that the Writer was seriously lacking in table cell
style department, and ... I sensed that there is some momentum in getting Table
Template and Table Cell styles formally blessed, and I wanted to make hay while
the sun was shining.

A workaround is to strip the AAT table from the font, using something like (ttx
comes from FontTools Python package):

$ ttx -x morx -x feat -x prop -x lcar AALMAGHRIBI.ttf
$ ttx AALMAGHRIBI.ttx

This should result in a AALMAGHRIBI#1.ttf file, installing it instead of the
original AALMAGHRIBI.ttf file should fix the issue.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 157922] Writer fails to attach Arabic letters in some fonts

2023-10-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=157922

This is a font bug. The font contains non-functional AAT (Apple Advanced
Typography) font support which is ignored by MS Office and older versions of
HarfBuzz. Newer versions of HarfBuzz as well as Apple software support AAT and
the font is broken there.

Currently, HarfBuzz does not give us a way to prefer OpenType over AAT, see
https://github.com/harfbuzz/harfbuzz/issues/4108 for upstream discussion.

This is not a first time I see a bug report about this particular font, but I
can’t find where I saw it before.

2023-10-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=157925

Bug ID: 157925
   Summary: JRE v21.0.1
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.6.2.1 release
  Hardware: All
OS: macOS (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Base
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: chris@dcfc.technology

# New User, not much technical background.

When using JRE 21.0.1:

Using Wizard in Forms, when you get to step 8 and activate radio button
"Modify" and then hitting finish, the form disappears and you are redirected to
the database. At the database there is no record of the Form being created.

Using JRE 11.0.21:

No issues.

I can confirm the bug.

I've also tested with a Firebird database and the behavior is the same, so I
think is not a problem of the database used but a problem of the interface

Thank you for the suggestion.

The "decrease/increase indent" for ordered/unordered lists are really controls
for "promote/demote outline level", not really about indentation.
The indentation used is the one defined for that outline level, and the default
for outline level 1 is 0.64 cm.
So in my opinion, the request should be closed as "won't fix", but I'll check
with the UX/Design team.

If you want to have a list that always starts at the margin, you can modify or
create a paragraph style that uses the option "apply list style" (in the
"Outline and List" tab), and make that list style start with an outline level 1
aligned at 0 cm.
Would that cover you use case?

Thanks for the suggestion.
I expanded the summary, does that describe your use case correctly?

Michael, Caolán and Heiko, I feel like you all could have an opinion on this?
If not, please feel free to un-CC :)
Admittedly, not a high priority enhancement, but I guess it can't hurt and
could be quite easy to fix?

I can reproduce the problem.

The wish here is to have true table styles. Currently it works only as template
when generating a table or re-applying a template. When the template is
assigned, this generates direct formatting of table, column, row and cells.

An intermediate solution could perhaps be to generate these direct formatting
from the template when opening a file and overwrite its settings in case there
exists already direct formatting in the file.

I thought we have already a report about true table styles, but cannot find it.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 33201] UI: Highlight (not select) current row and column in spreadsheet

2023-10-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon

--- Comment #71 from gnovaesefagun...@gmail.com ---
This feature would be indeed REALLY helpful!
Apparently there is a way to implement it in MSO Xl using VBA...
I haven't tried it, but it is described here...
https://www.ablebits.com/office-addins-blog/highlight-active-row-column-excel/
...and here https://trumpexcel.com/highlight-active-row-column-excel/
Perhaps it could give new ideas of how to implement it in LO Calc.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 157727] column format in sections can be unstable

Steps:
I created 2-column sections of text by selecting portions of text, one after
another, formatting each section as 2 columns (247 2-column sections) with a
paragraph in between each section (about 1450 pages).
I suppose you could use any sizable body of text and format as I just stated.

After I was done, I discovered that:
215 times (about 87% of the time) the end-of-the 2-column sections of text
auto-format correctly (evenly/uniformly). The (last page of the section/end of
the section) is uniform and evenly formatted.

32 times (about 13% of the time) the end-of-the 2-column sections of text do
NOT auto-format correctly, but the (last page of the section/end of the
section) is erratic and inconsistently formatted.

I was surprise that it happened and I can not figure out a way to permanently
fix it. I tried inserting a manual column breaks to "force" uniformity, but in
the end it only appeared to be a fix.
When the document is re-opened, sections (last page of a section/end of the
section) is erratic and inconsistently formatted.

As it is now, some of the end-of-section will not format uniformly and this
makes the document look ugly.

Thanks, Tracey

As a double-check/test, I downloaded Office 2000 and Office XP (2002) and the
end-of-the 2-column sections of text auto-format correctly (evenly/uniformly).

This is NOT a solution for me because I do NOT own either program.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 156988] Find cannot find superscripted or subscripted text

2023-10-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=156988

For 24.2 I set the toolbar to default to automatic, with
related tdf#80194 SvxEscapementItem: set auto flag as default

So, I assume something similar is needed for the "Search for formatting"
dialog.

(In reply to V Stuart Foote from comment #6)
> Justin has corrected all the raise/lower superscript/subscript to
> automatically take a value from font metric (see also bug 80194) so the
> manual values or the old default of 33% super/ 8% sub now is the exception.
I don't think that is quite correct. I only changed automatic to DISPLAY based
on the font metric. So my 7.0 work shouldn't affect a format search. I suggest
this was inherited from OOo.

But the main thing to be noticed is that AUTOMATIC is a unique setting that
simply will never match any specified percentage. So even if it displays at
33%, a search for 33% could never find it. And the current response is the
correct one. You SHOULD be able to search for only automatically set
superscripts. And therefore the corresponding is also true, that an automatic
superscript would never match a search for the "normal" 33% superscript.

The short response is "I agree that this ticket can be closed when "Search for
format" defaults to automatic for 24.2. Otherwise it is acting as expected.

In terms of the meaning of "automatic", it is exactly that - the computer gets
to decide how the superscript is shown (which is not a static percentage). See
the release notes for 7.0 if you want more details.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 157902] INCONSISTENT FORMATTING IN CALC

2023-10-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=157902

I believe I understand the statement "ONLY the 'selected' cells get the NEW
formatting." Let's consider these steps:

1. Open a new Spreadsheet >> Observe that: The first cell - A1 is selected by
default.
2. Select the menu Format >> Text >> Bold (or any other options).
3. Type anything in cell A1 >>> Observe that: The text is Bolded.
4. Type anything in other cells >> Observe that: The formatting selected in
step #2 is not applied.

So, the expectation here might be that "The Bold format" should be applied to
all other cells. If so, it will differ slightly from the bug [153527].

Furthermore, I compared this behavior with Microsoft Excel and noticed that we
can make it work that way, while Google Sheets does not. Therefore, the
decision to be made here is whether we should align with Microsoft Excel or
Google Sheets.

tdf#155238: Reimplement how ListAutoFormat is stored to ODF
This reimplements commits 6249858a8972aef077e0249bd93cfe8f01bce4d6
(sw: ODT import/export of DOCX's paragraph marker formatting,
2022-12-19) and 209dce614c43f63f63f5b42a746665c0ec1cbfe3 (sw: fix
ODT import of paragraph marker formatting, 2022-12-20).

Instead of using an empty trailing span for the ListAutoFormat data,
introduce a new loext:marker-style-name attribute for text:p element,
referencing a text autostyle.

The problems with the previous implementation were that (1) it was
impossible (or very difficult) to disambiguate several empty trailing
spans, in case it was needed; and (2) this was incompatible change,
with other ODF implementations treating the trailing span normally.

I couldn't manage to incorporate the attribute to paragraph autostyle,
because of problems referencing different autostyles one from another,
so put it directly to the paragraph attributes.

(In reply to Stéphane Guillou (stragu) from comment #6)

Indeed, sounds like an issue with the KDE-specific QFileDialog/KFileWidget.

(In reply to Atramenta from comment #7)
> Can you suggest a specific application that might trigger the same bug in
> the "Save as" dialog presented by KDE?

I can reproduce something slightly different, but similar, with Calligra
(calligrasheets, the spreadsheet application):

* create a new file
* "File" -> "Save as"
* for "Filter", select "ODS spreadsheet"
* in the "Name" field, type "test.htm" and hit Enter quickly

-> The file gets saved in ODS format as "test.htm.ods"

If you wait a second before hitting Enter, the behavior is different. I get a
dialog asking whether I actually want to save in HTML format, since that's
lossy. (And when I select OK, I get an error, but that's probably a different
issue in Calligra).

Since this seems to be an issue of KFileWidget, I'm closing this as NOTOURBUG.

Please report it in KDE Bugzilla instead (and ideally paste a link here):
https://bugs.kde.org
(Component is probably "frameworks-kio")

If there's any feedback there that suggests there's still anything to do on
LibreOffice side, please let us now.

(In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #5)

Actually, when I change the language of the default drawing style, using the
sidebar for example, it seems to affect everything regardless of any supposed
DF by selecting characters. This is weird. It's as though it's actually
difficult to change the language of _one thing_ within the document.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 74533] EDITING hyperlink: column insert after hidden column with hyperlins creates a column with invisible and undelettable hyperlinks

Partially repro with:

Version: 24.2.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: e9374f74385d7dfe77d1902d3d82af20143bc775
CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 22621; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: fr-FR (fr_FR); UI: fr-FR

It is possible to hide a column with hyperlinks.
It is possible to create a new empty column.
But it is only possible to unhide a column by using ctrl+a and then clicking
right on the top of one column to select the option to show the column hidden.
If I don't select everything before, the option to show the column hidden
doesn't work.

Created attachment 190415
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=190415=edit
test kit: ODT + ODS

Test with this archive of the original ODT + 1 data source as ODS

1. Open ODT
2. You might have to Edit > Exchange the database to the attached ODS
3. In the mail merge toolbar: Save Merged Documents
4. Save as individual documents > Save documents > PDF
5. Reduce ODS to only 2 or 3 recipients, then repeat steps 3-4
6. Compare size of outputs

Result: difference in size; repeated headings in PDF outline

--- Comment #2 from Stéphane Guillou (stragu)

One difference between the two provided PDFs is that 7 of the "headings" are
repeated in the outline many times in the large PDF (the 7 headings in the
footer).

Reproduced in OOo 3.3 and:

Version: 7.6.2.1 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 56f7684011345957bbf33a7ee678afaf4d2ba333
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-AU (en_AU.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

I can see the issue in both mailmerged PDFs and ODTs saved to disk, so no need
to email.

In mailmerged ODTs, I can see duplicated "hidden" graphics in the navigator
(although it does not make the file size increase).

In mailmerged PDFs however, the size gets bigger as the number of recipients
increases. For example, with OOo 3.3: 103 bk for 3 recipients vs 150 kb for 21
recipients
I notice in the opened PDF that the footer headings are duplicated as many
times as there are recipients.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 157921] New: Collaboration feature missing in Libreoffice: offline enhancement suggestion with user registration and peer to peer document updates

2023-10-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=157921

Bug ID: 157921
Summary: Collaboration feature missing in Libreoffice: offline
enhancement suggestion with user registration and peer
to peer document updates
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.5.7.1 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: grass...@gmail.com

Description:
Presently one mayor drawback in working with LO in teams is a collaboration
feature. Other projects have tried filling this gap with online solutions.
Unfortunately, they all fall behind what could allow LO making a breakthrough
in this area and be adopted by the thousands of users who are struggling with
other tools, being they paid, free, or opensource.

What I am suggesting is focusing on offline collaboration without having to
make a change to the bulk of Libreoffice project.

Not being a programmer, I will just suggest what I see in the steps below.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Probably a flat file format is necessary for this
2. Secondly, also a user registration in LO
3. Thirdly, files would have to run in a service which would come packaged
within LO, such as Syncthing or similar (peer to peer)
4. Changes made to documents by several could be handled in the way anytype.io
(an offline collaboration project, or a similar one) is doing.

Actual Results:
Presently such a collaboration is not possible.

Expected Results:
I expect this solution to deliver a collaboration software while keeping the
richness and speed of the present Libreoffice product.

Reproducible: Always

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 157920] New: Terminology: "Table Header" or "Table Heading" ?

2023-10-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=157920

Bug ID: 157920
Summary: Terminology: "Table Header" or "Table Heading" ?
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: olivier.hal...@libreoffice.org

Description:
In Writer - and possibly other modules - the user interface has Table Header
and Table Heading intermixed.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. When inserting a table, the dialog shows "Heading", "Repeat heading rows
across pages" and "Heading rows".
2. When editing a table command Table -> "Header Rows to Break Across Pages"
3. When in dialog Table Properties -> Text Flow "Repeat Heading"
4. the UNO command name is .uno:HeadingRowsRepeat

Actual Results:
dual terminology with impact in user interface and translation.

Expected Results:
Use just one term. Either "heading" or "header".

Reproducible: Always

Additional Info:
Comment from mst__ in IRC:
10:10:13 AM - mst___: ohallot, seems that PDF and ODF consistently use "table
header", which makes more sense because like a page header, the table header is
repeated on every page
10:10:39 AM - mst___: whereas a heading is not automatically repeated
10:12:30 AM - ohallot: mst___: In concur too. Do we agree that Table->Insert
has "Heading" as misused word?
(...)
10:13:40 AM - mst___: ohallot, yes

> Transparency setting that triggers the bug

So I have narrowed down which property is triggering this bug. In attachment
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=190414 I have marked the
transparency property that triggers this bug.

If you select the rectangle that is selected in that attachment and change the
transparency property marked in red to "Axial" and then back to "Linear". Then,
doe the same for each "chevron" shape and the slideshow will display normally.

So, my current theory is that the linear transparency gradient is getting
ignored until the property setting is toggled.

Next I will see if I can find where this particular linear transparency
gradient is drawn during a slideshow.

Can we make this a duplicate of another ticket?

For example
Bug 34141 - Functionality request: Impress language identification similar to
Writer's status bar
Bug 127897 - Missing "Language->For Selection/Paragraph" under Tools
Bug 123244 - Switched language in presentation not effective in newly added
slides
(my take #34141)

Since Impress/Draw is slide/page focused the idea of "all" sounds wrong to me.
The scope "current slide/page" makes sense. But it actually changing the
language via status bar or main menu affects all text boxes on all slides
(testing with 7.6 using English and German text- switching underlines either
one or the other). Works also with the test document.

Adding clear direct formatting (or all formatting resp. reset to default) makes
sense but would be a different topic.

How to proceed here?
