Forgot to mention that AV is installed on both systems. System 2 has a stock

FWIW, I have completely uninstalled LibreOffice and done a clean install of
7.1.1, making sure to start in safe mode and wipe out all existing user
configuration, but that has not changed anything.

I just tried saving a .docx file as .odt hoping the issue had been cured, but
