It's because you use Debian stable. Stable is appropriate for servers.
Personally I use Debian testing.
But some would advise Mint, OpenSuse, Fedora, Arch etc.

It is a good practice to upgrade to the latest version of any software to check
for fixed bugs before creating a report. The 3.5 series has been in End of Life
status since 2012.
