That should be possible. I have some ideas based on Kendy's first
implementation for that. It should be even possible to adapt the
target version from 3.5.1 to 3.5.0 if a commit is pushed to 3-5 and
later to 3-5-0.

I will think a bit about it and hopefully find a good solution soon.

Hi,

YES!! RC3 etc. should be removed from the About.

Indeed marketing wise this it is bad to keep RC3 while the product is
flagged as 3.5.

I think the other vendors do it the other way around (well, at least
Mozilla does, AFAIR): their RC releases indicate themselves as final, so
after renaming, this simply becomes true, and no recompilation is necessary.

One way to address this and still allow identifying which RC this is
easily would be to implement my suggestion from
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42239. This way, the about
dialog in RC3 would look somewhat like this:

LibreOffice 3.5.0
Build ID: libreoffice-3.5.0.3

In this case, the fourth number in Build ID line would represent the RC
number.

[Libreoffice-qa] RC3 released as Final version???

2012-02-14 Thread Pedro
Hi all,

I am aware that for developers a .0 release is a little more than a Beta,
but for QA people I think that it is a little offensive that a Final version
is released and the About box says

LibreOffice 3.5.0rc3

Maybe QA has a different meaning for me. But it really pisses me off the
lack of concern about these details.

I know that the last RC version IS the release version codewise, but
changing the text in the About box can't possibly affect the stability of
the release, right?

More disappointed regards,
Pedro

the way i got used to is to add one "target:x.y.z " for every branch
that the fix got committed to, for example:
"target:3.4.6 target:3.5.1 target:3.6.0beta0"

it looks possible to do that from a git hook as well, incrementally
(i.e. the field is extended if the current target of the branch isn't in
the list already).

but it would require that the hook knows which is the next release that
is created from every branch at push time...

Oh - great idea :-) Added that to the script; it does some best-effort
guess, by saying "It will be available in LibreOffice x.y.z.", where x.y
is derived from the branch name, and z is an increment of the highest
existing libreoffice-x-y-[0-9]*.

When it is cherry-picked to libreoffice-x-y-z explicitly, the message
about that will appear in the bug too, so an earlier inclusion is not an
issue.

Please test that it works :-)

Thank you,
Kendy

[Libreoffice-qa] [ANN] Referencing bugs in commits

2012-02-14 Thread Jan Holesovsky
Hi,

Markus has implemented a nice feature that should help keeping the bugs
up to date: whenever you are committing / pushing to git, and you
reference the bugs.freedesktop.org bug in the commit message, it will
automatically appear as a comment in the bug :-)

The bug reference has to have fdo#ABCDE form (where ABCDE is the bug
number), and has to be at the first line of the commit (it does not
matter where on that line). So eg. when you write git commit log as:

- 8< -
fdo#45748: Don't use empty pages for computing the page break position
- 8< -

It will result in the following comment in bugzilla:

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45748#c7

I am sorry for the trouble with the UTF-8 encoding, we'll fix that
later. Also, the comments are so far created with my bugzilla account,
we'll switch to a bug alias soon.

Kendy

This won't get you newly filed ones, and also doesn't remove the need
for reviewing the apache-OOo ones.

And you cannot delete or edit bugzilla comments, so it tends to get
crowded rather fast.

Hi @ll !

Why do not use a Metabug like:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6
There is a: "See Also: Add Bug URLs: " and comments...
IMHO that would be much easier...

It won't.

Yes - or better you'd exclude the ones that don't apply.
Create a query that has an explicit timeframe (filed until ) that
is considered a reviewed list, and add another one that starts at that
date (the unreviewed one).
Collect comments "applies/doesn't apply" below the queries and
periodically update the queries accordingly.

you could also only create the "new ones" list as the feed, and use a
static export from the other ones (if you assume that all issues are
flagged right from the start, and that the keyword is not retro-fitted
to existing ones).

so
* static manually reviewed until
* static export since  until
[collect comments to the issues here/applies/doesn't apply]
* dynamic list with issues since
[collect comments to the issues here]

last_wikipage_updated refers to when the reviewed issues list was
updated, i.e. when the comments to the static export has been
evaluated (i.e. has been reviewed as well), and becomes an addition to
the static manually reviewed list.
The old dynamic list becomes the new static-list-for-review, and the
dynamic list shifts its date accordingly.
(hope you understand what I'm trying to sketch here :-))

But it is only a suggestion, so just use whatever is easiest for you.

Hi,

great tool, unfortunatly I do not have experince at all. how will it
recognize ÁOoo Issues that have been reviewed by LibO QA?

I would have to add every reviewed AOOo bug number manually to my query.

In the wiki you could use the easy-hacks method, i.e. use a query and
add it to the page using the feed tag..

(the listing then however would be labeled "EasyHack" as well, but as
those issues all have fixes already, it kind of is an easy hack)
anyway...

e.g.
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/buglist.cgi?quicksearch=%22from%20symphony%22;list_id=6114&ctype=atom";
entries="10">
=== [{ID} {TITLE} ===
{DESCRIPTION}

(note: you want to use a rel query instead of the quicksearch for the
real thing - just append &ctype=atom to make it a feed and you have a
ready-to-use URL)

Well, we can combine the use of a static list in a wiki page and the
greasemonkey script I wrote in the IZ times (note that I haven't
tested/updated that script with the move to AOOo bugzilla). It's only a
small JS hack away and that script already gets some data from this
page:

http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/FixedIZ

Hope that helps,

Hi,

I deal with your concerns, a consequent addition of bug numbers, so that
I can adapt the query link (or the reviewer can add new AOOo numbers
easily) might be the better way.

Hard to tell - also, my hunch would be (given the limited sample
from above), that many of those obvious bugs are fixed here? ;)

[Libreoffice-qa] AOOo Issues [From Symphony]

2012-02-14 Thread Rainer Bielefeld

Hi all, Hi Markus,

in AOOo Bugzilla I find lots of bugs with [From Symphony] in Subject
line, I just took

to

That's a fruitfully source, we should check that systematically.

I recommend proceeding as following:

Check AOOo for [From Symphony]
Leave a comment in AOOo bug concerning your result:
"LibO also affected"
"LibO not affected"
If you use exactly those strings we can avoid double work easily with a
clever query, oyu find it on my Workbench

If you suggest a different proceeding please hurry up and post it here.

Please feel encouraged to check AOoo Bugs systematically.

May be you have ideas to improve the query to include more AOOo iissue
with big probability that LibO also is affected?

Further discussion please in

Best regards
