[Libreoffice-qa] RelNotes-5.3: Calc default cell styles loaded from a file in the user profile.

2017-04-30 Thread m.a.riosv
Hi all,

reviewing release notes
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/5.3#Default_Cell_Styles
"
Default Cell Styles

Default cell styles are loaded from a file in the user profile (Jaskaran
Singh (GSoC))
Syntax is based on ODF and loaded through orcus
Defining own default cell styles is now easy

New and improved default cell styles, tdf#90937 (UX team, Jaskaran
Singh)
"
The "New and improved default cell styles" was implemented,
but for the "Default cell styles are loaded from a file in the user
profile", I'm not able to find where the file is on the user profile.
I guess by https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90937#c11 it
have not been pushed yet.

Regards.
Miguel Ángel.

[Libreoffice-qa] Bugzilla spam

2017-03-28 Thread m.a.riosv
Hi all,

lataley there is a lot of spam in bugzilla.

I don't know if could be possible limit the number of reports from the same
user in short time like a three minutes. I think it's enough for true users,
but maybe large for spammers.

Some thoughts:

1) How to avoid break for people having a number as text in a cell, to have
the value without being taken into account in formulas/functions.

1) It makes more complicated to have a criteria for countif only numbers, if
there are a mix of numbers and numbers as text.

2) To have a consistent interpretation, I think it implies change the
evaluation of text as numbers, from only direct references to consider every
reference in array ranges as a direct reference.

3) What to do with functions like SUM(), evaluate always, when introduced as
array, never.

I think it is a deep change on the restricted behavior, that merits a deep
and reposed discussion.

In ODF 1.2,
http://docs.oasis-open.org/office/v1.2/os/OpenDocument-v1.2-os-part2.html#__RefHeading__1017988_715980110,
"
6.3.5Conversion to Number

If the expected type is Number, then if value is of type:

●Number, return it.

●Logical, return 0 if FALSE, 1 if TRUE.

●Text: The specific conversion is implementation-defined; an evaluator
may return 0, an Error value, or the results of its attempt to convert the
Text value to a Number (and fall back to 0 or Error if it fails to do so).
Evaluators may apply VALUE() or some other function to do this conversion,
should they choose to do so. Conversion depends on the actual locale the
application runs in, especially if group or decimal separators are involved.
"

Should be numbers what are numbers for VALUE()?, so we can test/know when
the conversion will be done. Should it be in any kind of reference or range
reference?

Re: [Libreoffice-qa] [QA] Need someone having Excel

2016-01-07 Thread m.a.riosv
Hi Gerard,

about comment in A4, If I'm not wrong, modify cell format never changes the
cell content. Formatting the cell as text after enter a number or a formula,
it doesn't convert them to text.

about the criteria as number only summing for numbers in the criteria range,
I think in calc interpreting text as number is only done with direct
references, not with ranges, putting in B6: =SUM(B3:B6) results is 2 not 4
how results with =B3+B4+B5+B6. There are some options in
Menu/Tools/Options/LibreOffice calc/Formula - Detailed Calculation Settings
- Details, but I think don't help in this case.

Regards.
Miguel Ángel.

[Libreoffice-qa] Drop-down boxes are broken for the whole LibreOffice.

2015-12-04 Thread m.a.riosv
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83904
reported by Beluga.

Can someone test, seems for the whole daily builds 5.x and for the whole
LibreOffice drop-down boxes are broken.

List selection is displayed, but the selection it's not applied neither
change in the box.

If it is, should be changed to blocker, I can only put it as critical.

For this I mail in the list, so it can be comment and if it was right set up

Sounds good the "Ultra-critical", but I don't know if there are already

Re: [Libreoffice-qa] Dealing with Corrupt Profiles

2015-11-27 Thread m.a.riosv
For my own experience, two significant points:

- Usually the corruption appears after upgrading, I'm not able to remember a
different case.

- The corruption is with registrymodifications.xcu, only renaming/deleting
this file solves the issue.

IMO, we could modify the user profile wiki page
(https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile), so the people test first
only renaming the registrymodifications.xcu, in this way they only need to
rebuild a few things, basically modified options, and user data, and all in
the Menu/Tools/Options.

At the same time, could make easy collect for bad profiles, if only
registrymodifications.xcu is affected, and there is a tool to search for the
differences with a clean profile..

Regards.
Miguel Ángel.

"Telling others what to do", nothing is further from my mindset.

For your words seems everything is cooked, then why do the voting?,
expending resources and time.

I don't care on to have the reason, but reach some kind of progress to solve
a problem, problems don't disappear by saying not and looking for other
side, usually only get worse.

someone come and "insist" and "dictate" how we do our work. If you want then

others will follow."

Please take in account for yourself. I can't find in bugzilla how many
bisects you have done along the last year.

The concept is clear, but why is a QA job?, collaboration it's a matter for
two or more. I don't like the work flow, so wrongly or not I choose what to
do, hope it is a right for everybody?

I never talked about dictate no one what to do, who am I for that?, but who
choose what to do, must follow the project norms/rules or how you want call
it, in fact there are rules.
You can buy the car that you like or can, but you must follow the traffic
norms.

I have expressed some ideas several times, basically about if something can
be done to prevent the bugs, but you and by your comments everybody has only
an answer, all to the bin. So IMHO the ball is in your roof, but please
clean from your mind that QA people, at least me not, are here for your
, it's for the project.

An example, one dev implements a new enhancement, a report comes in
bugzilla, a QA person confirm and bisect, sometimes a lot of their free time
for that, the dev patch the issue, also sometimes, with a simple change '>='
for '>', she/he is the Author, she/he has improved their stats, nobody
knows/cares about the QA person work.

And the conclusion is that QA must go behind devs begging for I don't know
what, I have no words.

Maybe will be better if you and who thinks like you, rethink about how the
people can approach to the QA, without the option to feel that they are
there only to clean the basket.

>
> Best,
> Joel

But I don't think into give up, fortunately some things are changing, as a
much more significant attention to the help or the interesting discussions
about more and better regular test, or even easier to see taking a look to
last minutes of ESC. I'm feeling a bit happier.

I hope sooner rather than later we find the space to propose achieve an ISO
certification in a few years. What really would be a key for open a lot of
doors.

Re: [Libreoffice-qa] Reminder: QA Meeting on Wednesday

2015-11-25 Thread m.a.riosv
Hi Pedro,

Thanks for bringing this matter again at discussion, even some people is
bored of it.

Excuse is always on developers, but I have not appreciated such attitude at
least with significant devs, even always there is some exception.

There is not a QA work flow for the whole. The results are your conclusions,
as I have exposed several times, specially new improvements are not
properly, neither improperly, verified.

Well maybe I forgot we have only obligations like to do a deep investigation
about what test, instead receive an adequate communication about what needs
our attention.

BTW would be nice listen from the candidates their opinion about concrete
matters like this one.

Miguel Ángel.

Re: [Libreoffice-qa] Debugging On Windows

2014-06-13 Thread m.a.riosv
Hi Jay,

with Symbol search path:

CACHE*C:\symbols;SRV*http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/Win-x86@39/symbols;SRV*http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols

with their build, without local copy.
Miguel Ángel.

[Libreoffice-qa] Something wrong with LibreOfficeDev_4.3.0.0.alpha1_Win_x86

2014-05-05 Thread m.a.riosv
Hi all,

beside the recent thread of Pedro Running LO 4.3 alpha in Windows XP...,
I have just reported a crash bug in Menu/Tools/Options/Language settings
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=78266,
where I comment it's no possible to access the Menu/Tools/Options with
master~2014-05-04_06.34.33_LibreOfficeDev_4.3.0.0.alpha1_Win_x86,
this is what I see

http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/file/n4107600/Captura.png

I have just verified that other submenus show the same issue as
Menu/File/Wizard/Letter.

Maybe something has been introduced lately.
Miguel Ángel.

Re: [Libreoffice-qa] Version field options way too fine grained

2014-03-14 Thread m.a.riosv
Hi,
perhaps only two digits could be a bit short, IMO three can be a more
balanced option, because it has a good correspondence with public releases.

Miguel Ángel.
