50CT Hard drive cover

Subject: 50CT Hard drive cover

Ok I just purchased some parts from Micsol, great to deal with and fast shipping but
they have a minimum order of $25. So
I bought 2 extra hard drive doors / covers since that is what had broken on mine. Just
figured I would ask here is anyone
needed one. I don;t want to make a profit so they are $3 each, same as I paid for
them, plus shipping which should be quite
cheap. If anyone wants one let me know off list.

The CD should be fine. Dunno about the FD, though. The 1100 comes with a

ff 1100V screen resolution

Subject: ff 1100V screen resolution

I just checked, the 1100 has 800 x 480 and 800 x 600. I keep mine on 800 x 600 even
though it's kind of a pain scrolling when using the LCD. When used with an external
monitor, you don't have to scroll.

Hi Andy and all,

I just got a ff1100 from eBay and it arrived yesterday. I bought the 64mb ram upgrade
and a bigger IBM drive too. Some of the differences from the 110 are:
266 processor
128 mb ram
only 1 PCMCIA card slot (on left now)
1 SmartMedia card slot
1 usb
larger jacks for mic and headphones
remote control (detatchable wired, not wireless)
ac power port is also on left side now

The extra ram is one of the biggest reasons I upgraded from my 110, though the 1100
has some really neat other features too, like a built-in smart media slot and a
camera. I think the mouse buttons work better too. I miss the docking station
already though. I think there must have been some people from Toys r Us on the

To me the answer is obvious. That was your friend who was playing with
libretto thus he has to fix it and then offer you a new HD with a bunch of
roses.
You really do not have follow Nekrasov's :
" ?? ? ?, ? ??? ??..."
Finally if your friend refuses kick his ass.
Hope this helps,

Subject: Re: Please help... reinstalling OS on 50ct...

What you will want to do is copy the Win 95 CD onto your libretto, then
remove everything off of your HD *except* what is needed to boot to dos.

THen boot to dos, and run setup from your Win95 cd copy.

You should probably copy over all the drivers as well, so they can be easily
installed.

The trick will be convincing WIn95 that there isn't a later version of
Windows installed.

But, you really should do some repair on that bad HD...

www.west-tech.com has $90 10 Gig drives, $120 20 Gig drives, and $250 for 30
Gig drives, FYI. (all 9.5 mm IBM Travelstars)

I know, my 12 Gig Toshiba gave up the ghost last week, and I need a
replacement for it (for my Tecra 8000, not a Linretto).

The 740 Mb (MK0803) and 2.1 Gb (MK2105) were silent.
The MK4310 and MK4311 (4.2 Gb) have a little spin noise,
The MK6412 has a permanent spin noise.

Does the noise depend on the disk size ?

Please help... reinstalling OS on 50ct...

2001-05-15 Thread Tanya Matveeva

Subject: Please help... reinstalling OS on 50ct...

Greetings!

I subscribed to the list hoping to get some help with my trouble...
I've read some FAQs including Adorable libretto's page,
but still not sure I have all the info to solve
this problem myself... So I'm asking for help in the list.

As it happens usually, my friend was playing with my 50ct and my dog
was jumping around... next moment, an unpredictable move of the dog,
and the computer (it was the time of booting windows...) dropped to the
floor. :( As a result, 18 bad blocks, but after scandisk, Windows was
booting normally and I thought that everything was OK.

Some days later, I noticed that I can't access device manager by any way (from
desktop or control panel...), and later, after my attempt to install
an antivirus software, Windows stopped booting normally, just giving
"msgsrv32 caused the error..." messages and freezing
(safe mode also doesn't work).
If I delete the registry files in command line mode, I can boot
windows, but I can't install anything because it again brings up this
msgsrv problem... think it's all because of these bad blocks.

So I think it's time to replace the hard drive and install new OS
or just re-install Windows. I don't have movey right now for new
HDD... so I need to re-install Windows. Can you please help
me with that, because I'm curious about this hibernation partition and
bad blocks on the drive. I was running scandisk many times, but number
of bad blocks doesn't grow (hopefully it wouldn't). I don't know if it
would be enough to place Windows distributive files on hard drive and
run setup from DOS mode. I don't have PCMCIA CD-ROM, but I think I can
transfer files from desktop computer with LPT-LPT cable...

So, I badly need help and advices from experts, what can I do in this
situation and how do I re-install Windows on Libretto. Also, my
libretto had russian Windows 98 on it, and I'd prefer to have Win95
OSR. Could it be better? Shouldn't I remove all Windows 98 files from
the hard drive before re-installation? I don't have any settings I
want to keep - but I'm afraid how newly installed Windows would
recognize the libretto hardware (accupoint and other specific devices)
and would it be able to use hibernation partition?...

Thanks in advance

Libretto ff 1100V

2001-05-15 Thread Reid, Andy G

Subject: Libretto ff 1100V

Hi folks,
Has anyone any experience with the Libretto ff 1100V ??
I am looking at a second-hand one to replace my 110CT. Spec does look better
i.e. P266 and 98M Ram, but have I missed anything? I am assuming that my
normal CD and FD drives will work (via PCMCIA). I did try looking at the
specs from Tosh, but my Japanese isn't that good!! ;-)
Replies either on or off list as appropriate.
Many thanks.
Andy.
