I'm with you on that. Also, set your colors to high 16 bit or even better to
256 unless you have a reason to do otherwise. I don't think you will notice
a difference between 16 bit and 24 bit and will save even more memory.
Another tip you can do is to make sure you don't have any useless junk
programs running in the background.

You're running XP on a glacial Libretto and you're using backgrounds??

That's insane. Backgrounds chew up valuable RAM.

Use a plain black background, save that poor machine.

I don't use backgrounds on ANY of my machines, even the fastest.

Pick 800x480 16-bit color mode. The video chip inside L1x0 is optimized to
operate in 16-bit mode. If you play any kind of video on it, you will see
the big difference. In 16-bit color mode, I can play 320x200 full screen VCD
videos smoothly. In 24-bit mode, the video gets really choppy.

You missed my point completely. Yes, you should select different directories
for Win98 OS and WinXP OS. However, a lot of stuff like data access files,
IE files and others are installed into "Program Files" folder and you don't
get chance to specify a different folder name. Windows will always install
them on to the "Program Files" folder the same partition your OS is
installed. And the same files for 98 and XP are not compatible.

You can not install any 9x OS after NT/2000/XP install because they don't
support multi-boot.

Ya, except I put 98 in a directory called Win98SE so I don't expect
overwritten.

And yes, I understand the seperate partition thing, except during the setup
reboots, it offers Win98 or WinXP Setup, so I should think it COULD keep the
multi-boot on one partition.

Furthermore, I had XP on a desktop, deleted it and then installed 98 and
THEN got a multiboot menu! So I am wondering if I install 98 on top of XP
would I get the multiboot...?

To dual boot, you have to install OSes on separate partitions or disks. It
has to do with those MS stuff get installed to Program Files folder. If you
install two OSes in the same partition, some files get overwritten and cause
problems.

I'm installing it now and it is taking hours to load up. L110 64MB

Also, the disk I got was OEM full install, yet the setup.exe does not run in
DOS mode. I had to reinstall Win98SE just to install XP.
