Thanks Urs and Trevor for chiming in. I've made another version that can be seen here: http://clairnote.org / lilypond-web-demo2/ (just remove the spaces as before...) The background image is restored and I managed to get the Lily icon with LilyPond appearing next to it in the main nav bar.
