I have been using it for years with no problems at all, so I never
suspected that there was some problem with interaction between Qemu and
I made a misprint in the previous email; a different thing happens; if

}
to the .ily file, but there's no difference.
Properly included in a \layout { ... } environment, of course.

Sorry for the noise, I fould the culprit:
the standalone snippets were (erroneously) built with the latest
self-compiled lilypond, whereas lilypond-book is an older version
that did not find the font.

The answer to your question depends a lot on your desired output. For
example, if I remove the \score block, Lily treats each staff as a separate
score and gives me output that I like. But I'm not really sure what you're
trying to accomplish:
