Like any number of Apple users I took advantage of the recent free upgrade to
MacOS X ... Maverick.
Aside from the odd glitch it doesn't seem too bad an OS release. It did take
about 24 hours after installation to do the necessary file system and other
maintenance that allowed it to function

Just pay attention to those caveats ... slightly slower I/O speed, the need to
leave it alone for about 24 hours to work out the file system and other
glitches (if you assessed the upgrade prior to the file system and other
maintenance it would get a fail, but trust me
