FRUSTRATION
Then why doesn't it say a 2074 is required anywhere in the Guide for
Automated Installation and Service (GC24-6099-01). Equally it is not
mentioned in the SAPR and none of my account team are familliar with
this.

Do you have any notes on this?
Here's a template that uses NFS to serve the SLES9 install tree, VNC to do
the graphics, and assumes a qeth interface at addresses 600-602 (I used a

Well, yes if I could. Is it possible to do it dynamically without having to
restart the SLES ?

I had originally installed SuSE 8 on our prodution VM, and just recently

do now, is to change the Network Configuration. The problem I am having is

Use sed or ed. I generally prefer sed.
for example, to change the ip address:
go to /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts directory
assuming your ethernet interface is eth0, do this:
sed -i.old s/192.168.1.1/192.168.2.2/ ifcfg-eth0
This will edit ifcfg-eth0 in place, change the ip address 192.168.1.1

From the manual:
Adding devices:
echo add device range=devno-range /proc/dasd/devices
To see what you now have:
cat /proc/dasd/devices
Don't forget to add this device or these devices to your zipl.conf file to make
them permanent.

Jose,
The link works fine. Just make sure you get the entire link with no spaces.
Many mail agents fold the line and confuse things greatly!
The manual # following .../docu/ should be lx24jun03dd04.pdf

One other option is to link r/w the new DDR'd dasd to a running linux

Just a thought.
I ran into a similar problem when I moved a Linux system ... probably
unrelated.
I got my /etc/fstab file out of sync with my /boot/parmfile ... I would
compare those to
your guest's dasd configuration and your IPL address.

Well, the least dramatic way is to use the ifconfig and route commands to
set your IP address and default gateway for your interface. Then, SSH in
and use YaST to change the interface information permanently.

Wish I could help. The dba's here are . . . hmmm . . . not good at
releasing control of easily automatible tasks.
Startup/shutdown of databases, database backups, etc. are all manual tasks
in our shop. Don't even let operations do it.
However, if you do come up with one, send it my way.

The product itself will not run, of course. But, depending on what
functionality you're trying to migrate, the pointers to information will
vary greatly. What will you be wanting to run on Linux/390?

The newest release of Slack/390, version 10.0, is ready to go. Thanks to
everyone who downloaded and tested it, and reported any problems.
Highlights of the release include the Linux 2.4.29 kernel, with Linux 2.6.7
as an alternate choice in /testing, glibc 2.3.2, gcc 3.3.4, and apache

provide services for which no one is willing to pay). We have about 1500
