Isn't it so that z/OS and z/VM are binary compatible ?
asm modules that don't use and specific z/VM z/OS calls can be executed in both
OSes.
So if you have z/OS maybee you can asm and link there ??

Not the point. *I* know where it reboots from, I've tested it. The point was,
it's not documented, along with a lot of other behaviors unique to the z
platform.
As I said, the kickstart doc is Intel-centric, and doesn't cover z very well.
That makes it tricky to set up and maintain.

One of the problems is that S/390 has no way to sense the R/O setting

Folks,
Anyone got this to work? Mine appears to run into a GPF and java dump
for libdb2ure when creating the instance.
Tried several times (somehow a GUI gives the feeling it might work
next time) but it now fails consistently.

Hi, I have some problems with my memory ;), I have old notes from adding disks
to
LVM disks and I use CDL (compatible disk layout) when formatting the disk
within the Linux.
That was SLES9.
Now, with SLES10, I want to turn DIAG250 on but that is not possible unless I

(or CMS format, but that is kind of tricky with a running zLinux)
??? When did that happen? You should NEVER use LDL for minidisks if you can
avoid it (and even then, it's discouraged).

Keeping in mind that VNC just makes things less agonizing, but not necessarily

Under zVM, it's a command (IPL 100), that that's where the confusion occurs.
At the point where the install is done, the install kernel is booted from the

Doesn't happen if the disk is CP or CMS formatted. Doesn't happen if there's a
partition table there.
Only seems to happen if I've cancelled an in-progress format. I suspect it
might happen if I've completed the format, but haven't partitioned yet,
although I haven't tested that.

My round-trip was around 160 ms. When I clicked on a radio button in
the DB2 installation GUI, it typically was 20 seconds before it showed
the graphical effect of that. With VNC it was less than 2 seconds.
Maybe I should have a look at the X11 protocol and see why it was so
slow.
