The new "one sandwich short of a picnic" for IT: one cylinder short of a

This is a ClefOS 7.5 system:

In passing, I think you said this was a minidisk that was 1 cylinder short. Is
cyl 0 the missing cyl, and the rest of the disk from 1-end the location of the
minidisk? If so, there’s no label on the minidisk part to preserve- you need to
supply one. The minidisk can’t see the real volume label
Resize2fs seems to work just fine:
resize2fs /dev/mapper/clefos_mfclef00-home
resize2fs 1.42.9 (28-Dec-2013)
Filesystem at /dev/mapper/clefos_mfclef00-home is mounted on /home; on-line
resizing required
old_desc_blocks = 3, new_desc_blocks = 4

There is a later s390utils in Red Hat's RawHide archive, with
a man page showing a 2006
Okay, I'm now stuck at expanding the logical volume (the whole purpose of this
exercise was to expand the /home mount point).
I'm to the point of:
xfs_growfs /home
xfs_growfs: /home is not a mounted XFS filesystem
Hmmmnot a XFS, then what is it? 'df' only shows that it is a ext4:
df -Th

Good catch...the web page I was using has a '-f', but perhaps they meant
'-F'...or possibly no longer viable.
Without the nonexistent switch, it formats.

I see code in dasdfmt on github:
if (info.keep.volser) {
:
if (dasdfmt_get_volser(dev_filename,
I don't see -f listed as a valid option.

Outside of Linux (it's a fullpack -1 cyl minidisk--reserving the 1st cyl for
z/vm label and allocation map)?
dasdfmt -b 4096 -d cdl -l LX0108 -p -y -f /dev/dasdi
Try 'dasdfmt --help' for more information.

Usage: dasdfmt [OPTIONS] DEVICE
Use dasdfmt to format a DASD ECKD device for use by Linux.
DEVICE is the node of the device (e.g. '/dev/dasda').

Does this work better?
dasdfmt -b 4096 -d cdl -k -p -y -f /dev/dasdi

What does "dasdfmt --help" display on that system?
Mark Post
The response "Try 'dasdfmt --help' for more information" isn't very helpful.
First, more information for what? There was no prior message. Secondly, the
syntax appears good (as far as I can tell).
I'm using the '-k' instead if the '-l volser' to keep the z/VM volume serial
number:
Yes, but I'm using the '-k' to keep the existing label.
(This is the z/VM label as well, right?)

not entirely sure what the question is but you set the cdl format volser with
the -l volser option. “l” being for label.
