I've been working towards using samba as a print server for windows
clients. Every 15 minutes I get this in my logs (nmbd.log and
/var/log/messages)
nmbd/nmbd_browsesync.c:find_domain_master_name_query_fail(358)
find_domain_master_name_query_fail:
Unable to find the Domain Master Browser
the next time you upgrade it ;-)
I hope this helps.
Sincerely,

Subject: SAMBA and CTC?
I would like to try SAMBA. My Linux-390 host
Does each Linux guest have to own the ethernet card?
Not at all. I run samba with only CTC like following:
[10:18:59] kingcrab@linux390:~$ ifconfig
ctc0 Link encap:Serial Line IP
inet addr:210.216.xx.xx P-t-P:210.216.xx.xx Mask:255.255.255.255
