Hi,

I implemented Openstack with a mixed architecture with x86 and s390x
using Openstack-ansible. 
You can find a lot of information here:

I used x86 for controller nodes and s390x for compute. All the nodes
are running Ubuntu. 

But could you provide some more information on what you want to
achieve? A mixed x86 and s390x enviroment? Are you planning to use zVM
or KVM as a hypervisor? Also which Linux distributions are available to
you?

source using a couple of openstack-ansible playbooks. 
Originaly the playbooks didn’t offer support for s390x but they were adapted by 
my colleague Chris.  If you want to know more, you can contact him directly on 
chris.beuk...@icu-it.nl

There is no such thing as "brief steps" when it comes to any implementation of 
OpenStack, but SUSE keeps winning the "race" to install OpenStack at the 
OpenStack developer conferences, so I believe we have the easiest installation. 
 Which is not the same as saying it is "easy."
