The kind of newbies' questions which I prefer to avoid is the repeating

week later, another newbie comes and (being newbie, he is totally
unaware of the list archives or of the documentation available from
Google),
I guess the term newbie here means those that do not search archives or
google before posting questions.
That is consistent with what the anti-noobs have been saying on the
list. However, if so then it should be stated on the signup page:
If you googled and RTFM first, ask here: linux...@~

I should point out an interesting point. Whenever I try to STFW a somewhat
obscure general question (i.e. - a how to rather than what is or why
question. How to do something vs. What does this error message mean or why
does this happen), Linux-IL more often than one would expect pops up high

I don't see you, Dotan Cohen, asking questions which were already asked
recently. I don't think that any of your example questions would
currently qualify as noob questions. Long time has passed since anyone

Well I have only praise to say in the way Shlomi Fish answered my queries
regarding my Webcam problems, even though I have not succeeded to get it to
work. He compiled a file from source for webcams for me. I would never have
been able to do this.
As a newbe I really appreciate any help I get
Hi,
As I my Emacs usage increased recently following the discovery of the amazing
org-mode (highly recommended), I began wondering about Bidi in Emacs.
Searching for info on the web only got me confused - it seems there have been
a number of attempts, but it is not clear to me if I can get bidi
I thought about this about 1 1/2 years ago but did not get around to
implementing it.
XEmacs has support for loading external modules, however I use emacs.
In Emacs version 22, it is possible to use IPC to communicate with
another process. Then one needs to write a module which invokes FriBidi
