I have been looking fro linmodems for a while and I found areally cheap one
(what I am looking for): it's a motorolla model (contact me privatly for the
location since I do not want to advertise here). My question is: I konw that
motorla's modems are not very good, but how is the

I am trying to d/l mozilla bidi buils. If i recall they are somewhere on
iglu's ftp.
But that ftp is out for 2 days. I got from windows commander a message
saying that that operations is taking too much, from IE just cannot conect,
and DownLoad accelerator the same.
Somebody knows about this?

sounds more like misconfigured fonts. Make sure you have a Unicode
(iso10646-1) character set and fonts selected (Look Feel - Fonts,

will not always work, on , my kde 2.1.1 it says it cannot recognize

As far as I know there is, I could not build it with bidi thought... (some
problems with some external libraries), here is the output:

One small question: did had you installed the bidi built or the normal? I

Ok, so I basicly understood what is happening. LIRC needs bttv (a kernel
2.4.X) for it's building. After the build I get 2 kernel moduls: licr_dev,
lirc_gpio. I insmod them. Then run the deamon (lircd).
Now for the testing: I used irw. I even got the correce signals. But only as
root. As a
KWInTV, has some proglems, (I used 8.5 or something). Comething about
QCollection (not very good programmed). Maybe a newer version will help...
You may also try, xawtv, which (as far as TV player) is the best. Ugly UI.

2) what if a have 20-30 modules installed? I looked at 2.2.5 moduls.conf and
found about 100-200 modules (or 300 lines) which is too much for me. btw: i
had tried it without sucess and after a while it was 0 again.

The problem was i configurated it for P III while I have a P233mhz (P I?).
I have another problem. After installing the modules, moduls.conf size is 0.
I wrote a script that loads all modules needed by my automaticle, but I
think there is a better way.. any suggestions?

When I booted it the computer says "uncompressing linux...OK" and then gets
stucked.

a win modem is a 56K modem. They are very small (the main card is very thin)
and they cost very cheap. Why because they lack one of most expensive
componentes the processor. instaed they use the CPU fpr small operations
(like opening the compresssion which the modem has, error corrections etc).
