i want to use my 3 4gb uw harddiscs in a raid5 combination
i do the steps discribed in the howto at

if you have a raid-root-fs, then
i think the problem is that the kernel cannot load
the modules unless the rootfilessystem is mounted
and /lib/modules/ is available. but without
the module, a mount is not possible. :-o
have you tried with compiled in support ?
