Why are you doing that? You should get kernel 2.2.19 or 2.4.3.
Everything is there. That cvs package has changes which have been
requested to be added to the next 2.4 kernel but haven't been used yet.

OK. I get the cvs version from cvs.linux-usb.sourceforge.net. There is
still no INSTALL/README file. Anyway, I copy everything to
/usr/src/linux/drivers/usb. "make dep" is ok. but "make modules" give me
too much error. So what is the proper way to compile it?

That is probably an extremely old version. Try kernels 2.2.19 or 2.4.3.

I have download usb-2314.tgz from http://usb.cs.tum.edu/download/usb.
I don't know how to compile. I have tried the various Makefile, copying
the sources to my kernel sources, trying patches with .diff
files... Nothing!
