DOn't use the ub device. When usb-storage loads it should activate a
/dev/sdN device, provided you have sd_mod loaded.

Hi,
I use(d) a 2.6.10 kernel and the usb-storage/ehci_hcd modules to connect to a
USB hard disk (together with ide-scsi emulation). Suddenly the hard
disk does not work anymore (the same under Windows XP). After enabling
usb-storage debugging in the kernel I get the following output (after

Hi,
I have a usb hard disk which has no external power supply. It is a IBM disk
in a Trust 250A usb adapter case. This has some Cypress chipset, I believe.
My question is: how can I turn off the disk before unplugging it? (With
hdparm -Y /dev/sda1 I get an error message.)

Does your code

Shouldn't the [usb-storage-x] processes be immune to this signal?

I have the same problem too.
I'm not sure, but I think there is a patch for it.
Anyway, I'm waiting for a new kernel to have
this pacth applied by default.
2.4.18 perhaps?
Can anyone confirm this ?

Hello.
I have installed an USB hard disk (it is an ide hard disk with an IDE/USB
adapter (chipset OnSpecInc 90C36LC1)), and all seems to be ok (I mount it
with /dev/sda1 and everything seems to be well), the only problem is that
when I shutdown or reboot the system, if I have used the USB hard
