Not sure if its still a problem, but licq had/has a history of trouble creating new icq accounts. I can recommend SIM as a better icq client, is reasonably up to date and has sms and other features. Check it out on sourceforge. The other thing I would suggest is perhaps looking at Gaim. Cheers

I'm trying to set up licq on a Debian/Knoppix box. Using a 7-characher password and no UID when toing the initial registration (I have no ICQ account as yet) I get the following in the error log: 10:59:52: [INI] Resolving proxy: proxy:80... 10:59:52: [SRV] Opening socket to server via proxy. 10

Not strictly Linux related, but Anyone on the list got icq running? I've been searching, but can't find anyone I know who's online :-). It appears to work, but I havn't chatted to anyone, as there's no-one home :-). Cheers, Chris H.
