I see that vbscript can be embedded in html.
Javascript was written to make it very hard to attack the client computer,
whereas vbscript doesn't have these safeguards built in, does it? VBscript
can do a lot of stuff, like write to your hard drive and run windows
software. It really is a beaut.

Ok, I cranked up xftp on the WS and ftp'd the 300MB directory
over to the laptop. It FLEW by.
So, that left ncftp on this WS as the culprit.
The ncftp version SHOWS 3.0.4, so I grabbed the latest, 3.1.5,
and compile it and install.
VOLIA !!! Now it works. Everthing flys by.

I finally gave up on Gentoo for my pianist's computer today and
installed Redhat 9. It's currently reminding me why I don't use an RPM
based distro myself, though it is pretty nice and once I get a few

It is my understanding that if you have Samba set up right and a
filesystem with proper ACL support that your users can modify their
permissions from Windows Explorer just as they would for NT server.
Here's a howto that is supposed to document this. Note that I've never
