Hello,
Several months ago I floated the idea of creating a top level project
covering logging services. The idea was received favorably. Moreover,
we currently have or shortly will have inter-operability with the
following log4j sister projects:
* Log4Perl
* Log4Net
* Log4Cxx (c++)
* Log4CPlus
*

BTW, can we add something in there about trashing commons-logging :-) Just
kidding (but only a little bit).

As a top-level Apache project, we will have to carefully study any proposal
which is within the boundaries of our mission. So if commons-logging
decides to join LS we will have to give an honest consideration to their
proposal. The same applies if a member of the Logging Services PMC makes

Mr. 'Tobee Determined' is yet to be determined.

Howdy,
OK then ;)
+0 from me. I think it's an interesting idea. To have consistent guidelines for
logging in multiple languages would be nice.

Please feel free to contact any sister project you deem appropriate. If you
do, you can mention that sister project will be treated on an equal
footing, with proportional representation in the PMC.

I would also dearly hope that as many of the sister projects as possible

My comments on the subject:
1) If the sister projects decide to not particpate, then I think the
need/momentum for this TLP dissipates. So, their support is key, in my
mind. I think that

In spite of this criticism, my company is using Commons Logging + Log4j.

What is interesting about this first link is the original veto to have a
runtime dependency on log4j. As a component developer I can sympathise
with the concept of trying to
