Mozilla's Project Phoenix supports java and is intended for embedded
application
We would like to set up multiple LTSP servers to balance load and provide
redundancy.
I could have sworn I saw some people doing this on the mailing list but I
cannot find it there on on the site.
Does anyone have any pointers/suggestions?

It's been quite some time since I monitored the LTSP discussion list.
In any case, I once hacked image scanner support (based on SANE) into
an older version of LTSP (based on redhat 6.2). It worked so well
(in addition to LTSP itself) that I've never upgraded my environment

Any user that has an account on the server can log into any terminal.
The "one terminal, one user" set up is on required if you are doing
something like auto-login or some other service that ties a username to
a physical machine.

I look at /etc/X11/gdm/gdm.conf, and I found nothind related to shutdown
except the command line to run the shutdown command ... :(
